Through the intersection of photography, sculpture, performance and collaboration, Peter Happel Christian explores
the natural landscape as a primary place of human action
and reflection. This expanded practice allows him to examine
photography as a fluid method of description and invention.
Peter Happel Christian received his BFA from the University
of Iowa in 1999 and his MFA from the University of Oregon in
2003.
His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout
the United States including a solo exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute
of Arts in 2011. His work is in the collections of the Center for Creative
Photography, Tucson, Arizona, the Tucson Museum of Art and The
Midwest Photographer’s Project at the Museum of Contemporary
Photography in Chicago. Peter Happel Christian lives and works in Saint
Cloud, Minnesota where he is an Associate Professor in the Department
of Art at Saint Cloud State University.
