INTELCENTER
IntelCenter is a privately owned company established in 1989. It has been providing counterterrorism intelligence
services for more than 20 years to the intelligence, military and law enforcement communities in the US and
around the world.
The sole focus of IntelCenter’s work is all terrorist and rebel groups around the world from FARC in Colombia to
the Maoists in Nepal to al-Qaeda and its affiliates. For IntelCenter the word terrorist represents an organizational
structure as a non-nation state actor which is actively involved bombings, shootings, kidnappings, etc. IntelCenter
does not track military forces, criminal organizations or political groups.
IntelCenter’s intelligence products on these groups are designed to support the analyst and operator community
with current intelligence on what has just happened today and what is likely to happen tomorrow. Its mission is to

The DIR provides you with a detailed look at all
terrorist, rebel group and other related activity from
around the world. Coverage includes, bombings,
assassinations, kidnappings, threats and
organizational changes within groups. Subscriptions
to the DIR also include all Significant Terrorist Event
Reports (STER), Kidnapping Reports (KR) and some
Analyst Notes (AN) produced by IntelCenter during
major terrorist events. The complete DIR archive is
integrated into the IntelCenter Database (ICD) and
core incident reporting is archived in the Terrorism
Incident Reference (TIR) series of books. Individual
subscriptions cost US$649 a year. Multi-user and

DIR Main Report: Breakout of all terrorist and
rebel incident activity around the world. Released
4-5 times a week. Ranges between 20-40 pages.
Items appear next to their country flag along with an

STERs: Significant Terrorist Event Reports are
released during major terrorist events such as 9-11,
the Mumbai attack, the Delta Christmas attack and
others around the world. Reporting begins within
minutes of an event and updated reports are released
continuously until the flow of information begins to
slow over the following days. Reports are emailed in
PDF form.
KRs: Kidnapping Reports are released whenever a
significant kidnapping occurs. They are updated
whenever new developments in that kidnapping
arise. Reports are emailed in PDF form.
ANs: Analyst Notes are short to long analytical
pieces on new trends, developments and key observations made by IntelCenter
analysts.

(TCM)
The TCM provides you with near real-time updates of the latest threats and
claims issued by terrorist, rebel and other threat actor groups. TCM bulletins
are sent out via email in PDF form throughout the day. The volume of message
traffic is dependent upon the level of activity by threat actor groups. Volume
typically averages between 3-15 releases a week. TCMs typically range in
length from 1-25 pages.
The TCM allows you to easily track claims of responsibility for attacks and
monitor threats for a change in tone, increase in frequency and other key
indicators. IntelCenter reviews all known terrorist and rebel messaging
released in audio, video and written form for consideration in the TCM feed.
Each TCM includes summary information, relevant contextual details,
photographs and when available the full text of the statement made by the
group in English. The flag of the primary country of focus appears along with
the logo of the group covered if available.
The full archive of TCM releases is available in the IntelCenter Database
(ICD).

One of IntelCenter's core competencies is the
collection, exploitation, analysis and dissemination
of terrorist and rebel group video materials. The
goal of our video program is to provide the highest
quality video and audio materials in a professional
format and timely manner to the analytical and
operator communities in the counterterrorism arena.
These video libraries are made available on DVD,
CD-ROM, special formats designed to support
technical exploitation and through Enterprise/
Workgroup Streaming Network Solutions.
IntelCenter’s video production facility is directly
integrated into its 24/7 Operations Center located in
the Washington, DC metropolitan area. By utilizing
sophisticated RAID, fibre channel, distributed
computing, render farms and the latest in high-end
video production and asset management software,
IntelCenter has the capability to pull in high-quality
terrorist video and within minutes output multiple
formats via FTP and fully produced DVDs. In
addition, the Operations Center has multiple
redundancies for power, cooling, Internet,
communications and other critical areas in order to
insure continued and uninterrupted operations.
IntelCenter has also incorporated a full HighDefinition workflow capability to take HD source
material in, process it and output HD materials on
DVD and for network use. This capability allows
IntelCenter to instantly exploit terrorist video shot in
HD as soon as it begins to appear.
All of our DVD titles contain video indexes and
translations of onscreen Arabic text. They are
designed to be used in analytical, briefing and

Reporting is heavily focused on incident type activity, such as bombings,
shootings, kidnappings, etc., with some coverage of arrests, threats and other
developments. The data contained in each item represents an analyst’s best
assessment of the most accurate information based upon available source
reporting at that point in time and their knowledge of the area and groups
involved. These items are not simply abstracts. All source information for
each item is listed below in brackets.
When researching patterns of activity or any type of quantitative or
frequency type analysis, the TIR is an excellent starting point but needs to be
augmented with additional resources. While every attempt is made to be as
comprehensive as possible, variations in source coverage, source availability,
volume of activity and resource levels all impact the depth of coverage over
time. Consequently, while it may appear that attacks have increased during
one period this may simply be the result of additional press reporting.

The Series Approach
These volumes work with three primary types of material. The two most
heavily weighted in the selection process are English language transcripts
produced by al-Qaeda and exact transcripts of the English subtitling in alQaeda’s videos. Wherever possible these two types are used. If they are not
available, then the best quality translation available of the spoken Arabic
was used. At the top of each statement the source material type is indicated
in the version section.
Due to the variety of source material, there are noticeable variations in
spellings, names and other areas from one statement to another. This was
unavoidable as we felt it was critical to preserve the exact copy of alQaeda’s actual English writings, to include grammatical and spelling errors.
This allows analysts and others to use these transcripts in a variety of
analytical efforts that would not be possible had everything been
standardized.

Victory". It features operational footage of
the group in Kurdistan, training exercises,
statements from the group and more.
Volume 1 contains a 54'42" video from the
group which is a tribute to Abu Anas alShami. The video contains appearances by
Abu Saif al-Shami, Sheikh Abu Azzam,
field commander Abu Khattab (Omar
Hadeed) and footage of Abu Anas al-Shami
before he died on 16 Sep. 2004 in what alTawhid and al-Jihad said was an operation
against Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. Audio
from brigade prince Abu Yasir, who was
said to be the last one with Abu Anas alShami before he died, and others are also
on the video.
Volume 2 contains the first produced video
by the group which runs an hour long. It is
entitled, "The Winds of Victory". The focus
of the video is on operational footage and
martyrdom videos. The majority of the
operational footage consists of vehicular

Volume 1 contains the Arabic Edition of
the al-Haramain Brigade's "Echo of the alHaramain Brigade" video. This 37-minute
video was produced by the group's
Information Section and released on 19
July 2004. The video includes messages
from Abdulaziz bin Ali al-Mudaihesh and
Fahd bin Abdullah al-Faraj who executed
the 21 April 2004 attack against the Saudi
Emergency Headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia. Video is also shown of the truck
bomb prior to the attack. Audio statements
are given by Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasir alDakheel and Sheikh Abu Qataada alFilistiinii.
Volume 1 contains a 37-minute video
released by the First Section of Sout alJihad in Iraq during the first week of Aug.
2004. The video contains extensive footage
of the modification of conventional
munitions and the making of improvised
rocket launchers. The video also contains
planning and operational footage. Among
the operations shown are an attack on
Saddam Airport, the al-Musha Airport and
other American bases.

Volume 2 contains a 43-minute video from
the al-Mujahideen Information Media
group called "The Second Issue". The
video features footage in Iraq from both alTawhid and al-Jihad and the Islamic Army
in Iraq (IAI). It shows training of new
jihadi fighters, operational planning, the
preparation of improvised explosive
devices (IEDs) and operational footage. We
believe the original video to be longer than
the 43 minutes included on this DVD. If we
are able to obtain the remaining footage we
will release a new version.

Fight Them
CALL OF JIHAD VIDEOS VOL. 1
Crushing the Cross
Volume 1 contains the Arabic Edition of
the GSPC's "Fight them, so there will be no
civil strife and all religion will be for God"
video, which was released in jihadi circles
on 25 Jul. 2004 by the Audio/Video Section
of the GSPC's Communications
Committee. It is unknown when the video
was originally produced. The 63-minute
video features operational footage of the
group and jihadi life in Algeria.
Volume 1 contains a 51’57” video released
by the Call of Jihad Center. It was released
on 20 May 2008 and is in Dari. Taliban
official Ustad al-Yasir appears in the video,
as does Maulana Mohammed Munib. The
video also shows footage of a downed
helicopter on a mountainside, training,
detailed planning for an attack and the
subsequent assault and an engagement with
US forces on a mountainside. The majority
of the operational footage shown in the
video is identified as being from Nuristan
Province.

Russian military aid convoy. Footage of the
placement and detonation of roadside
explosive devices and a battle in Vedeno
are also included. Commander Khattab and
Shamil Basayev also appear. All of the
English text and subtitles appearing on the
video are believed to be produced by the
Chechen Rebels or one of their front
organizations. The original Arabic version
of the video is believed to have been
released sometime in late 2000 or 2001.

IJU's Badr at-Tawheed. It was released on
or shortly before 15 Apr. 2008 and features
footage of Saad Abu Furkan (aka Cuneyt
Ciftci) conducting a VBIED attack on a
government compound in Khost Province,
Afghanistan on 3 Mar. 2008. IJU said it
was a joint operation with the Taliban. The
video shows the reconnaissance footage,
planning, preparation of the VBIED and
attack. The bug in the upper right corner of
the video is from a third-party and was not
on the original version of the video which

vehicles with roadside IEDs. The vehicles
profiled are the Buffalo, Cougar, RG-31
and Meerkat.
Volume 3 contains an 11’30” video from
the ISI's al-Furqan Media entitled, "The
Missing". It has English subtitles and was
released on 13 Sep. 2007. The video deals
with USAF F-16 Pilot Troy L. Gilbert and
includes images of his ID and apparent
body. Gilbert's F-16 crashed on 27 Nov.
2006, 20 miles NW of Baghdad. He was
initially listed as Duty Status Whereabouts
Unknown (DUSTWUN) but then listed as
deceased on 3 Dec. 2006 following DNA
tests on remains from the scene. The focus
of the video is a propaganda attack against
the US Air Force's operations in Iraq and
America's broader involvement in Iraq.

believed to be done by the group or one of
its front organizations. The video includes
the martyrdom message of 9-11 hijacker
Abdul-Aziz al-Omari (a.k.a. Abu al-Abbas
al-Janoobi) and footage of the 9-11
hijackers planning for their attack. Osama
bin Laden is featured discussing each of the
hijackers. It also has excerpts from other
bin Laden speeches and a poem read by his
11-year-old son.

Washington Battle Martyrs
Volume 4 contains an hour-long video
released by al-Qaeda's as-Sahab Media,
entitled "The Wills of the New York and
Washington Battle Martyrs". The Arabic
Edition was released in Apr. 2002. It is
unclear when the English Edition was
released. The video includes the martyrdom
message of 9-11 hijacker Ahmed alHaznawi al-Ghamdi and speaking
appearances by Osama bin Laden, Ayman
al-Zawahiri and Sulaiman Abu Ghaith. This
version is missing approximately 2’14” at
the end. The English Edition does contain
footage that did not appear in the Arabic
Edition. It appears during al-Haznawi's last
testament. The English speaking narrator is
believed to be Adam Gadahn (a.k.a. Azzam
al-Amriki).
American Hell in Afghanistan
and Iraq (English Subtitles)
Volume 2 contains the English Edition of
al-Qaeda's "American Hell in Afghanistan
and Iraq" video. This 45-minute video was
produced by al-Qaeda’s as-Sahab Media.
This edition contains English sub-titles and
English text. The Arabic version was
released in September 2003. The sub-titles
and graphics are believed to be done by the
group or one of its front organizations. The
video includes the martyrdom message of
9-11 hijacker Said al-Ghamdi and footage
of him training. Osama bin Laden gives a
speech and talks about al-Ghamdi. His
speech is laid over footage of him and
Ayman al-Zawahiri walking in a
mountainous area.

The audio recording that is included with
this video was first publicly aired on 18
Oct. 2003 by al-Jazeera. However, the
release date of this English subtitled video
is Aug. 2003. It contains the nearly 30minute audio recording by Osama bin
Laden with English subtitles and a brief

attack against the al-Muhaya housing
compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 8
Nov. 2003. It features training footage and

and Nasser al-Khalidi. A video address
from al-Qaeda field commander in Saudi
Arabia, Abdul Aziz al-Moqrin, appears on
the tape, as well as an audio address by

Volume 6 contains a nearly 40-minute
video from al-Qaeda's as-Sahab Media
entitled, "Martyrs of Confrontations on the

Chinooks on and around 28 Jun. 2005, a
purported American base in Kunar
Province, the roadside bombing of the
security chief of Kunar Province and more.
It is most commonly identified as showing
the ID of US Navy SEAL Petty Officer 2nd
Class Danny Dietz, who was killed on or
around 28 Jun. 2005. An interview with alMujahid al-No'man, who is identified as
one who participated in the fighting in

Volume 11 contains the al-Qaeda’s asSahab Media video released on 1 Sep. 2005
that includes the Ayman al-Zawahiri claim
of responsibility for the Jul. London
bombings and the martyrdom video of
London bomber Mohammed Sidique Khan.
In the video al-Zawahiri also threatens

Oppressed". It was released around the first
week of Aug. 2005. The full video is
reportedly two hours long and includes
statements in Arabic, English, French, Urdu
and Pashto. The video features operational
footage of al-Qaeda ops against US forces
in Afghanistan. Video statements from
Ramzi al-Makki, Khalid al-Sheikh (in
English), the emir of the front in
Afghanistan Abdel al-Hadi, Abu Zubaydah,

statement is an address to Muslims and
serves as a call for sacrifice in jihad. Nearly
half of al-Zawahiri's address is focused on

Volume 17 contains the 25'20" video
entitled "The Letter to the Americans: Why
Do We Fight and Resist You" by Ayman alZawahiri. It was released on 7 Jan. 2006 by
al-Qaeda's as-Sahab Media. On the video
Azzam al-Amriki reads al-Zawahiri's letter
in English while English subtitles are
shown on the screen. Al-Zawahiri's letter is
in the form of a reply to two questions. The
letter read by Azzam al-Amriki is nearly an
identical match to the letter released by alQaeda in Oct. 2002 and identified as a
letter from Osama bin Laden to the
American people.
Volume 18 contains the full 15'09" video
from al-Qaeda's Ayman al-Zawahiri of
which excerpts were aired on al-Jazeera on
17 Jun. 2005. The video contains no
graphics or title screens. On the video alZawahiri talks about the principles of
reform and praises fighters in Afghanistan,
Iraq and Jerusalem, including Abu Musab
al-Zarqawi and Taliban leader Mullah
Omar. He also talks about the need to

extremist groups in order to allow the
greatest training value. All of the footage
was shot by the groups in question. There
has been no editing beyond what was
necessary to isolate the relevant portions
and enhance their quality as much as

Volume 3 features operational and training
footage from Qaeda al-Jihad in the Land of
Two Rivers and its predecessors, the
Islamic Army in Iraq and other groups
operating in Iraq. All of the footage was
shot by the groups in question. Operational
footage shows roadside bombings,
ambushes, hostage taking, SAM attacks
and more. It also includes jihadi video of
the testing of blast effects from suicide
bomber belts. There has been no editing
beyond what was necessary to isolate the
relevant portions and enhance their quality
as much as possible.
