Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge
Africa Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge Okavango Delta BOTSWANA A maze of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and overgrown islands teeming with wildlife, Botswana’s Okavango Delta lies like a sparkling jewel at the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Known as the river that never finds the sea, the Delta’s crystal-clear channels spread over the thirstlands of the Kalahari with their papyrus-fringed banks and fertile floating islands. Adapted for a life in and out of water, the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga are found in this watery wilderness. Lion, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog share the floodplains with large herds of elephant and buffalo. Hippo inhabit the deeper channels and lagoons, while honeybadgers can be seen in broad daylight. Tall termite mounds are homes for families of dwarf and banded mongoose. {Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge} &Beyond boasts four magnificent lodges in the Okavango Delta, each with its own individual charm and character: Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp, Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp and Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge. www.andBeyond.com Set in a cool forest canopy of wild palms and gnarled fig trees, &Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge looks out over spectacular Delta views. Situated on a private concession, Sandibe has exclusive traversing rights over 22 500 hectares (55 600 acres) of wildlife land adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. Behind the lodge, golden-grassed floodplains stretch into the distance, framed by lush palm islands and the spires of giant termite mounds. The beautiful organic architecture of the lodge blends seamlessly with one of Africa’s most breathtaking landscapes. Drawing its inspiration from nature, &Beyond Sandibe is serene and earthy. Eight elegant and intimate suites (another four will open in later in the year) are raised above the papyrus like the nests of golden weaver birds and feature magnificent Delta views, as well as private plunge pools, cosy fireplaces and secluded nooks. Inside, the rooms become cocoons at night, with fireplaces for winter use. Interiors celebrate Botswana craft with pieces that include copper-clad mekoro, basketware and sculpted wooden tables. An interactive kitchen celebrates succulent Botswana beef, artisanal breads and pizzas, while a beautifully situated massage sala offers a selection of relaxing massages in a spectacular natural setting. Our guide, tracker, butler and managers were awesome. The rooms were large and lovely! The food was spectacular, very flavourful! We saw lots of elephants, a few hippos, lions and a leopard here. We also went on a walking safari, which was exciting, and we had elephants as our guests during breakfast! I loved how open this camp was and how there was always an elephant nearby eating. The outdoor dinners were wonderful and the singers fantastic.” ~ Jen Robertson, &Beyond guest • S cheduled Air Botswana or SA Airlink flight to Maun or Kasane, followed by a light aircraft flight into the Okavango Delta and a game drive from the airstrip to camp ACCOLADES BOTSWANA’S LEADING SAFARI LODGE AT ANNUAL WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS 2014, 2013, 2012 & 2011 TRIPADVISOR CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE FOR CONSISTENT 5.0 RATING 2013 RESORTS MAGAZINE’S TOP 100 PLACES TO STAY 2012 {Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge} www.andBeyond.com TABLE OF FACTS NUMBER OF ROOMS 8, including a family suite (4 additional suites opening later this year) MAXIMUM GUESTS 16 FAMILY SUITE Yes, one CHILDREN POWER 220v AC Please note that the generator is generally switched off overnight; with prior notice we are able to provide 24-hour electricity for guests with special requirements Yes - children 5 years and younger cannot participate in game drives or nature walks; children aged 6 to 11 can participate in game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion; children aged 16 and over can participate in nature walks INTERNET ACCESS Yes, wifi in guest area only PRIVATE 4X4 SAFARI VEHICLE Available at an additional cost (from 1 November 2014) CREDIT CARDS Visa, MasterCard MASSAGE At the spa or in-room EXERCISE EQUIPMENT Gym at the spa CHILDMINDING Available at an additional cost WEATHER TRIPLES One (children 16 years and younger) TWIN BEDS All convertible to double Botswana has hot, wet summers from October to April.
