Two exceptional volunteers were honored
this month for their exceptional service to the
Visitor & Information Center.
Neva Miller has made a large impact in a
short time. Only having been a volunteer for
two months, she has already identified and
completed several special projects including
the restoration and rejuvenation of the 4’ x
14’ “Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of
Commerce” sign attached to our building
that welcomes visitors from around the world! Neva always has a smile on her face, is quick
to learn and always enthusiastic. By her own
admission, Neva “doesn’t like to sit still.” This
trait is apparent as she quickly moves from
one task to another with joy in her heart.
Linda Ogden is being honored this month
as well. Linda is always the first to volunteer
for extra shifts when there is a vacancy to be
filled. She stays on top of the “to do” lists at the
VIC and never lets a task lapse. Linda always
provides excellent customer service to all who
visit the center. As a generous person, Linda
often brings gifts and goodies to share, goes
out of her way for guests and is very skilled
at making connections between people and
local services.
The Visitor & Information Center and
the town of Sequim are lucky to have such
amazing volunteers like Neva and Linda in our
midst. Congratulations and thank you, ladies!

The “Shining Star” member of the Sequim-Dungeness
Valley Chamber of Commerce in August is awarded to Dr.
Sharon Jensen and Blue Mountain Animal Clinic.
Jensen has been the owner of Blue Mountain Animal Clinic
since 2007 and has a unique approach to vet medicine. She
believes that all of the top-notch equipment doesn’t do any
good unless the staff has been educated on how to use it. The
staff works hard to create an environment that heals, nurtures
and calms. Jensen said, “Customer service is our No. 1 goal
because they understand that without the clients, they will be
out of a job.”
Jensen is generous to her staff with rewards, awards
and gifts. Every one of them is purchased from the local
community. When outsourcing for the clinic, she uses local
business. The IT experts are from Port Angeles; the website
is managed by a business in Sequim; the signage was created in Sequim; and the building addition was constructed by a Sequim contractor. The
landscaping was designed, added and is maintained by a Sequim business. Jensen has continued to keep the clinic privately owned, allowing staff
to tailor treatments to the client and their owner. On July 1, the practice was sold to another vet at the same clinic, Dr. Nicole Wagnon, keeping
it locally owned. For more information, visit www.bluemountainvet.com.
