R A D IO A D JU STM EN TS
U se the follow ing steps to m ake the final adjustm ents on your car.
1. Turn the transm itter on.
2. M ake sure the m otor is disconnected.
3. C onnect your battery pack (if R TR ) and/or
turn the ESC s pow er sw itch on (if included).
4. M ove the steering controlon the transm itter
to the rightand left.D o the w heels m ove in the
correct direction? If not, you m ust reverse the
steering servo direction on your transm itter
(see radio m anual.)
5.Adjustyour steering trim (see radio m anual)
until the #9659 steering rack is centered under the top plate. Then, using the tw o steering
turnbuckles, adjust the front w heels so they
are pointing straight ahead.
6. Adjust the ESC (electronic speed control)
according to the speed controlm anufacturer’s
instructions. S om e m anufacturers have the
m otor connected during adjustm entand som e
do not.N ow turn the pow er sw itch off.
7. C onnectthe m otor.Place yourcaron a block
or car stand so that all four w heels are elevated.Turn the pow ersw itch on again.C heck

Ifyou are notusing a stick battery pack, here is
how to assem ble your battery pack.Solder individual cell connections as show n.
Team racers prefer battery bars for sturdier connections. Insulated w ire w ill not allow
the pack to fitin the battery slot.

To getthe m ostfrom your m otor, proper gearing is im portant. The gear ratios listed in the
chart are recom m ended starting gear ratios.
R atios can vary from track to track, but you
should not change the pinion size m ore than
one tooth from the recom m ended ratio.
MAINTENANCE
C A U TIO N ! Increasing the
pinion size by m ore than one
tooth can dam age your m otor
from excess heat.

Betw een runs, inspect the brushes to ensure
they are m oving freely in the brush holder. This
is done by carefully rem oving the spring and
sliding the brush in and out of the holder. If
there is any resistance or rough spots, rem ove
the brush and carefully w ipe the brush clean.
This w ill clean off any buildup so the brush
slides sm oothly in the brush holder.
Afterevery 3 to 5 runs, rem ove the brushes
from the holders and inspect the tips for w ear
and/or burning.Ifthere is a noticeable am ount
of w ear, replace the brush w ith a new pair. If
the tip is a burnt blue color, then the lubricant
in the brush has been burned aw ay and new
brushes should be installed.
Afterevery otherbattery charge you should
carefully clean the m otor. O ne recom m ended

Adjust the differential(“diff”) as noted on page
6. Adjusting the diffis notm eantto be a tuning
option. Ifyou can hearthe diffm aking a “barking” or “chirping” sound on jum p landings, either your diff is set too loose or your slipper
clutch is set too tight. First check your slipper
setting, then re-setthe diffaccording to the instructions on step C -9.
The assem bly instructions give you a base

You should periodically check all the m oving
parts: front and rear end, suspension arm s,
steering blocks, steering linkage, shocks, and
so on. If any of these should get dirty or bind
then your car’s perform ance w illsuffer.

m ethod is to spray m otor cleaner directly on
the brush and com m utator area. R un the m otor for approxim ately 15 seconds. D isconnect
the m otor and spray it again, m aking sure the
runoff is clear and clean. If the runoff is still
dirty, repeat the spraying action untilclean. After com pleting the cleaning, apply a sm all

bearing for lubrication. Be carefulnot to apply

Another popular w ay to set the clutch is
to hold both rear tires firm ly in place and
apply short bursts of throttle. If the clutch is
properly set, the front tires should lift slightly
up offthe surface.

STEER IN G B LO C K S
C hanging the length of the cam ber link is
considered a bigger step than adjusting the
ballend height on the tow er. Shortening the
cam ber link (or low ering the ballend) w ill
give the front end less rolland quicken
steering response. Lengthening the cam ber
link (or raising the ballend) w illgive the front
m ore roll and slow er steering response.
Longer cam ber links are typically used
on high grip tracks and shorter links tend to
w ork better on m ed-grip loose tracks.
The included trailing steering blocks (# 9581)
should be used in m ost cases. The Team especially recom m ends the trailing blocks on
high-grip or “blue-groove”.
C hanging to the optional inline steering
blocks (#9577) w illgive the car an overallaggressive feeling. Steering entering and exiting
the corners is increased, but straight line stability is slightly reduced.

The supplied 25° caster blocks (#9580)
are recom m ended in m ost cases. For m ore
corner entry steering and less exit steering, try
the optional 30° blocks (#9593).

Toe-in describes the angle of the front tires
w hen view ed from the top.W ith toe-in,the front
of the tires point inw ard.
Zero degree toe-in (tires pointing straight
forw ard) is the setting that should be used in
alm ost all track conditions. O ccasionally you
can increase turn in by adding a little toe-out
(frontoftires pointslightly out). Fronttoe-in is
not a typical tuning adjustm ent used by the
Team .
R ide heightis the distance from the ground to
the bottom of the chassis.
The standard front ride height setting is
w ith the front arm s level(referred to as “arm s
level”). C heck the ride height by lifting up the
entire car about8-12 inches offthe bench and
drop it.Afterthe suspension “settles”into place,
add or rem ove pre-load clips so thatthe left&
right arm s appear to be flat as seen in the
follow ing picture.

A N TI-SQ U AT
Anti-squat denotes the angle of the rear arm s
relative to the ground. Zero anti-squat m eans
that the rear arm s are flat, parallel w ith the
ground. The kit setting is 2°, and can be adjusted by installing or rem oving the included
shim s underneath the arm m ount.
The shim w ith 2 tabs is for 2° and the
shim w ith 1 tab is for 1°. You can use any
com bination ofshim s to get0,1,2,or 3° antisquat. Adding anti-squat tends to m ake the
car “rotate” m ore in corners, but doesn’t
handle as w ell through the bum ps.

You have three options for rear hub spacing,
Forw ard, M iddle, & Back. The kit setting provides the m ost rear traction, and w ill be used

M iddle or Back position. This can also m ake

The optional #9635 B4 rear anti-roll bar kit
(also called the “sw aybar”) allow s you to add
roll resistance to the rear end w ith m inim al

an especially helpful tuning item on high-grip
tracks (try the gold bar). The silver and black
anti-roll bars are typically used on m edium grip loose tracks.
R ide height is the distance from the ground to
the bottom of the chassis.
The rear ride height setting you should
use m ost often is w ith the outdrive, driveshaft,
and axles allon the sam e im aginary horizontal line (referred to as “bones level”). C heck
