Tour Summary
Introduction. Although we fell well short of the
hoped for 1000 total, recording 917 species, we did most
importantly have a wonderful birding adventure, quite
literally across the length and breadth of Colombia. From
the high Paramos of the eastern Andes to the sweltering
jungles of Mitu and from the arid semi-desert of the Guajira
peninsula to the humid cloud forest covered slopes of the
western Andes, it was quite a ride. We managed to record a
huge number of endemics and specialties and simply a
wealth of great birds with everything from the bold and
flashy such as Guianan-cock-of-the-Rock, Red-ruffed
Fruitcrow and Northern Screamer – to the small and
Spotted Puffbird by Trevor Ellery
dainty such as Tody Motmot, Rusty-breasted Antpitta
and Booted Rackettail. Everywhere we went there were birds – and often lots of them. Combine that
with some wonderful scenery and some wonderful mammal experiences, which included a soaking wet
Brown-throated Sloth at Paujil, a wonderful troop of Venezuelan Red Howlers in the Santa Marta
foothills and a Spiny-Speckled Tree Rat facing off with a large Boa
on the Caribbean coast and you have the perfect recipe for what
turned out to be a sensational trip.
Day 1: Chingaza NP and Siecha Gravel Pits. We started
with an early morning, birding the windswept Paramos above
Bogota. Despite the biting winds we were soon picking up a nice
selection of high Andean birds including fine views of Plushcap,
Plumbeous Sierra Finch and Pale-naped Brush Finch. We also
enjoyed extended views of the near endemic Bronze-tailed
Thornbill, which perched up and allowed itself to be scoped. Other
hummers included Shining Sunbeam, Glowing Puffleg, Great
Sapphirewing, Black-tailed Trainbearer and several Purplebacked Thornbills.
The day soon warmed up and, in the, at times, hot and
cloudy conditions, things became tough but we persevered and soon
added Andean Pygmy Owl, Rufous Wren, Golden-fronted
Whitestart, Hooded, Scarlet-bellied and Black-chested
Green-backed Trogon by Trevor
Mountain Tanagers, White-banded, White-throated and BlackEllery
capped Tyrannulets and the near endemic Rufous-browed

Conebill. Dropping further down we found Andean Guan, Pearled Treerunner, both Rufousbreasted and Brown-backed Chat Tyrants, Blue-backed Conebill and a fantastic group of Whitecapped Tanagers, which made several close fly pasts. By mid-afternoon we were thinking of heading
on to our next site but not before adding our third Chat Tyrant, Crowned and a couple of skulking
Silvery-throated Spinetails.
In the mid-afternoon we made a trip to the Siecha
Gravel pits where we added Noble and Wilson’s Snipe,
Andean Teal, Spot-flanked Gallinule, Grassland Yellow
Finch, White-tailed Kite and on dusk an obliging Bogota
Rail.
Day 2: Parque La Florida and Urania
Community Mitu. An early start found us standing next to
the reed beds at La Florida in the morning gloom. The
recent very clear weather meant that there was something
akin to a light frost – an occurrence almost unheard of in
Colombia, even in the cool highlands. We were soon
Yellow-crowned Manakin by Trevor Ellery
scoping a female Merlin that was clearly looking for its
breakfast and we also added a fly by Black-crowned
Night Heron and plenty of fly over Bare-faced Ibis. After a short wait we found an Apolinar’s Wren
which showed well. The population here may be down to just one individual. The walk back to the van
produced Andean Ruddy Duck, Pied-billed Grebe, Purple and Common Gallinules, Yellowhooded Blackbird and a vagrant group of 4 Lesser Scaup. We then managed a quick look at the
endemic Silvery-throated Spinetail, before heading to the airport having packed all this in before
7.15am.
We departed to Mitu where we arrived around mid-day and during the wait to receive our
luggage, added Yellow-browed Sparrow, Cobalt-winged Parakeet, Plumebous Kite and five high
soaring Anhingas.
A quick look at the river near the hotel produced
Drab Water Tyrant and Little Blue Heron and then we
headed off to the Urania community. Here, we quickly found
Black-chinned Antbird, Cherries Antwren, Amazonian
Inezia, Spotted Puffbird, American Pygmy, Green and
Amazon Kingfishers and Green-backed Trogon. Walking
on up through the community produced a whole plethora of
new species including Epualet Oriole, Greater Yellowheaded Vulture, Scaled Pigeon, Black Caracara, Blueground Dove, Grey-rumped, Short-tailed and Neotropical
Palm Swifts, Swallow-winged Puffbird, Yellow-tufted
Woodpecker,
Maroon-tailed
Parakeet,

Oropendola, Silver-beaked and Swallow Tanagers, Yellow-bellied Dacnis and Chestnut-bellied
Seedeater. We also found our main target and obliging group of Azure-naped Jays.
We finished the day back at our jeeps, where a couple of Bronzy Jacamars were an added
bonus.
Day 3: Mitu Cachivera and the Pipeline Trail. This
morning we headed out on the Mitu Cachivera Trail. The
birding was great right from the start as we added Blackishgrey Ansthrike, Yellow-crowned Manakin, Coraya Wren,
Speckled Chachalaca, Rusty-fronted and Yellow-browed
Tody Tyrants, Chestnut-crowned Becard, Mealy Amazon
and Black-capped Parrot before we had even left the
community.
We were soon into the Whitesand forest and steady birding
produced Versicolored Emerald, Scarlet Macaw,
Amazonian Antshrike, Spot-backed Antwren, Imeri
Warbling Antbird, Slender-footed Tyrannulet, Whiteeyed Tody Tyrant, Dusky-chested Flycatcher and DwarfTyrant, Blue-crowned and Black Manakins. As the day
warmed up and the activity dropped, the high temperatures
that the drought-like conditions had produced (it hadn’t
Black-faced Antbird by Trevor Ellery
rained in Mitu for weeks) began to take their toll and we
opted to return to the hotel for a break.
We headed out again in the afternoon, birding the pipeline trail. This produced Chestnutbellied Seed Finch Yellow-throated Flycatcher, White-breasted Wood Wren, Yellow-billed
Jacamar, Yellow-green Grosbeak and both Purple and Red-legged Honeycreepers.
Day 4: Ceima Cachiver and Mitu area. We started the morning at the Ceima Cachivera
community, where we quickly found Blackthroated, Black-faced, Grey and Dusky
Antbirds, Black-faced Dacnis,
Great
Jacamar, Ivory-billed and Many Banded
Aracaris, Chestnut Woodpecker, Greycrowned Flatbill, Slate-colored Grosbeak
and a singing Lawrence’s Thrush.
We then found a fruiting tree which was quite
literally full of Manakins holding Westernstriped, Blue-crowned,
White-bearded,
White-crowned
and
Golden-headed
Manakins. It also attracted several species of
Tanager including Flame-crested, Paradise

and Yellow-bellied while we managed to find Turquoise, Green-and-gold and Opal-crowned
Tanagers during the morning’s walk.
We then continued on to the Cock-of the Rock lek where, after
a wait, we saw several fine male Guianan Cock-of-the-rock. Further
birding in the forest produced Reddish Hermit, Fork-tailed
Woodnymph, Amazonian Motmot, Fasciated Antshrike, Pygmy
Antwren, Yellow-browed Antbird and a great mixed flock which
held Speckled Spinetail, Dusky-throated and Spot-winged
Antshrikes and Grey Antwren.
It was already past our lunch time and with the intense heat
building up, we headed back to our Jeeps, adding an obliging pair of
Rufous-capped Antthrushes en route.
The group once again opted to take a long afternoon break due
to the heat and we made a short late afternoon excursion to several
sites on the outskirts of the town to look for Point-tailed Palmcreeper
and Amazonian Umbrellabird – neither of these could be found but
we did add Red-throated Caracara, Green Oropendola, Striped
Woodcreeper and Crimson-crested Woodpecker.
Day 5: Bocatoma Trail and Mitu area. We spent the morning birding along the Pipeline trail –
this produced Grey-bellied Antbird, White-browed Purpletuft, King Vulture, Amazonian Trogon,
Spangled Cotinga, Citron-bellied Attila, Dot-backed Antbird, Helmeted Pygmy Tyrant, Saffroncrested Tyrant Manakin, Screaming Piha and Red-rumped Cacique.
Most of the guests then opted to take the afternoon off with some short birding around Mitu
adding Red-bellied Macaw.
Day 6: MCH and Pueblo Nuevo. This morning we headed out very early and made a fairly
long drive to the MCH road. This proved well worth it as we were in position, at dawn, to enjoy a
spectacular display of several male Fiery Topaz over a quiet black water stream. We followed this
with a Tawny Tufted Toucanet and then also found Ruddy Spinetail, White-fronted Nunbird, Redstained and Scaly-breasted Woodpeckers, Wedgebilled
Woodcreeper,
Cinereous
Antshrike,
Common Scale-backed Antbird and Red-crowned
Ant Tanager.
While some headed back to the hotel, others
continued birding through the afternoon, picking up
Paradise Jacamar, Pied Puffbird and Yellowthroated Woodpecker as well as Negro Stipplethroated, Rufous-tailed Plain-throated and Longwinged Antwrens, Black-bellied Cuckoo, Tawnycrowned Greenlet, Curve-billed Scythebill and
Amazonian Trogon by Trevor

spent birding near the town which added Silvered Antbird,
Amazonian Streaked Antwren, Green Ibis, Plain-breasted
Ground Dove. Orange-cheeked Parrot, Mouse-colored
Antshrike, Blue Dacnis and Golden-bellied Euphonia. We
also enjoyed further views of both Bronzy and Paradise
Jacamars, Spotted Puffbird and our first views of a perched
Scarlet Macaw.
Day 8: Cerro Guadaloupe and road to San Vicente.
This morning we visited Cerro Guadaloupe high above Bogota
where we found Black-headed Hemispingus, Paramo
Seedeater, Streak-throated Bush Tyrant, Rufous Antpitta,
Blackish and Ash Colored Tapaculos, Agile Tit Tyrant,
Coppery-bellied Puffleg, Red-crested Cotinga, Andean
Siskin, Grey-browed Brush Finch and White-rumped Hawk
.We also enjoyed our best views of Silvery-throated Spinetail.
We then took a flight to Bucaramanga in the central north of Black-bellied Cuckoo by Trevor Ellery
Colombia. We had a fairly long drive to the Cerulean Warbler
Reserve but a well-timed birding stop added Jet Antbird, Great Antshrike, Longtailed Tyrant,
Spectacled Parrotlet, Yellow-tufted Dacnis and a host of commoner lowland species.
We arrived at the Reserve at dusk and add a very obliging Tropical Screech Owl in the garden
after dinner.
Day 9: Cerulean Warbler Road, Coffee Zone. We spent
most of the day in the garden and coffee plantations around the
Cerulean Warbler Reserve. We quickly found Turquoise Dacnis
and Indigo-capped Hummingbird in the garden. We then dropped
down to lower elevations, where a pair of Niceforos Wrens showed
well. A third site produced good looks at White-mantled Barbet.
Other species seen in the coffee zone included Ruddy Pigeon,
Striped Cuckoo, Beautiful (a surprise) and Red-rumped
Woodpeckers, Orange-chinned Parakeet, Pale-breasted and
Slaty Spinetail, Strong-billed and Streak-headed Woodcreepers,

afternoon we returned to the feeders where a Gorgeted
Wood Quail showed well and we also added Northern
White-crowned Tapaculo, Slaty Antwren and Plain
Antvireo.
Day 11: Cerulean Warbler Reserve too El
Paujil. We spent the morning birding the lower Coffee zone

Antshrike, White-headed Marsh Tyrant and Panamanian Flycatcher.
Day 12: El Paujil Reserve. We spent the
day birding around the Lodge. First up was a
splendid male Blue-billed Curassow which has
become somewhat habituated and showed well
near the main buildings. We followed this with
Black-headed Tody Flycatcher, Fulvousvented Euphonia and Black Antshrike as well
as Black-tailed, White-tailed and Gartered
Trogons,
Rufous
Motmot,

Brown-capped Tyrannulet, Southern Bentbill,
One-colored Becard, Golden-hooded and
Yellow-backed Tanagers and our first BlackBlack-billed Flycatcher by Trevor Ellery
chested Jays.
In the late afternoon we birded on the other side of the river which produced Black-billed
Flycatcher and Broad-billed Motmot.
We then returned to the feeders in time for dusk where we found Shining-green and Bluechested Hummingbirds and Long-billed Starthroat among the commoner species. The walk back to
the Lodge allowed us to spotlight a Common Potoo and after dinner we had fantastic views of a
Choco Screech Owl.
We also added our first real mammals of the trip with some brief Crab-eating Foxes, at dawn,
and good looks at the ubiquitous White-faced Capuchins.
Day 13: Paujil to Rio Claro. A quick jeep drive allowed us to bird the upper road at
dawn where we enjoyed great looks at Blue-andyellow Macaw and several species of fly over
Parrots. We also found Black-crowned
Antshrike, Bicoloured Antbird both Blackmandibled and Citron-throated Toucans,
Black-Hawk
Eagle,
Purple-throated
Fruitcrow, Lesser Greenlet, Black-bellied
Wren and White-shouldered Tanager. While a
Sloth, which had clearly taken a soaking from
the overnight deluge, put on a fine display.
After an early lunch we drove over to Rio
Claro adding Capped and Cocoi Herons, Black
Skimmer and Pied Water Tyrant on the drive.
We then did some birding near our hotel which

Flycatcher, Grey-headed, Tawny-crested and Scarletbrowed Tanagers and a single Silvery-brown Tamarin.
In the afternoon we hiked down to an Oilbird cave
where we enjoyed great looks at the Oilbirds and also added
Brownish Twistwing and Checker-throated Antwren.
Day 15: Rio Claro to the Piha
Reserve. We had a final early morning at Rio Claro before
Lancoelated Monklet by Trevor Ellery
the long drive to the Piha Reserve. We managed to find
Magdalena Antbird, Stripe-throated Hermit, Barred Puffbird and Dusky-faced Tanager.
In the late afternoon, a couple of stops produced Tody Motmot, Black-headed Brushfinch,
White-bibbed Manakin, Bronze-winged Parrot and Speckled Tanager and we arrived in time for a
quick look at the hummingbird feeders which added Purplethroated Woodstar.
Day 16: Chestnut-capped Piha Reserve. We spent the
early morning birding around the lodge where we quickly enjoyed
good views of Sooty-headed Wren. We then spent most of the
day in the forest where we managed to find Chestnut-capped

Collared Trogon, Rufous-rumped Antwren, Golden-winged Manakin and Yellow-throated Vireo
before making the long drive to Las Tangaras Reserve. As we left the Piha Reserve we had good views
of a circling White-tailed Hawk and we also made a short stop for a couple of Black-capped
Donacobious. Our lunch stop had some fruit feeders which attracted Grey-throated Tocuanet, Acorn
Woodpecker and Flame-rumped Tanager.
Day 18: Las Tangaras Reserve. An early
start allowed some pre-dawn owling which
produced very good views of Colombian Screech
Owl. We then spent the whole day in the Tangaras
reserve which produced its usual avalanche of
birds. Highlights included White-headed Wren,
Beautiful Jay, both Golden-headed and Crested
Quetzal, Pacific Tuftedcheek, Scaly-throated and
Lineated Foliage-gleaner, Uniform Treehunter,
Yellow-breasted
Antwren,
Yellow-breastd
Antpitta, Alto Pisones and Narino Tapaculos,

Brushfinch and Grey-hooded Bush Tanager.
In the afternoon we returned to Las Tangaras
Reserve where we added Crested Ant Tanager,
Toucan Barbet, Chestnut-breasted Wren, Sicklewinged Guan, Western Emerald and Lemonbrowed Flycatcher.
Day 20. Cauca Valley and Rio Blanco. An early start

found us in the Cauca Valley at dawn. Here we soon found Apical Flycatcher, Greyish Piculet and
Antioquia Wren. We also added Greenish Elaenia, Golden-crowned Warbler and Mouse-colored
Tyrannulet.
A quick breakfast (!) ice-cream stop added Clay-colored
Thrush and then we made the reasonably short drive to Rio Blanco.
Arriving just after lunch we spent some time watching
hummingbirds which included Bronzy Inca, Wedge-billed
Hummingbird, Long-tailed Sylph and White-bellied Woodstar.
We also added White-capped Dipper before dropping our gear off
at the rooms and heading out. We quickly found a mixed flock
which
held
Yellow-vented
Woodpecker,
White-tailed
Tyrannulet, Rufous-breasted Flycatcher, Rufous-crowned Tody
Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Siskin, Black-capped Hemispingus
and Capped Conebill.
We also enjoyed a flock of Golden-plumed Parakeets, a
skulking Blackish Tapaculo, Mountain Wren and, as we returned
to the lodge, a Black-billed Mountain Toucan.
Day 21: Rio Blanco. Today was Antpitta day and we Black-billed Mountain Toucan by
Adam Riley
headed out from the lodge with local guide Albeirro. He has the
Antpittas well-trained and over the next couple of hours we were to enjoy point blank views of
Chestnut-crowned, Brown-banded, Slaty and Bicolored Antpittas – in some cases being hand fed.
While the Antpittas may be the highlight, Rio Blanco is about so much more and during a long birding
day we added quality species such as Black-collared Jay, Dusky Piha, Barred Fruiteater, Crimsonmantled Woodpecker, Streak-headed Antbird, Red-Hooded Tanager, Ocellated Tapaculo,
Flavescent Flycatcher, Smoky Bush Tyrant and Oleaginous and Black-eared Hemispinguses.
We stayed out late into the evening enjoying good looks at Rufous-bellied Nighthawk but only
hearing White-throated Screech Owl.
Day 22: Nevado del Ruiz and Otun Quimbaya.
Today we climbed to the highest point of the tour –
4000m – on the cloudy and windswept Paramos of the
Ruiz Volcano. Despite the often poor conditions we
quickly located a host of target species including Buffy
Helmetcrest, Stout-billed Cinclodes, Viridian
Metaltail, Tawny Antpitta (at our feet), Andean Tit
Spinetail and Black-chested Biuzzard Eagle. We then
dropped down to some lower elevation elfin forest
where we found Black-backed Bush and GoldenTawny Antpitta by Adam Riley
crowned Tanagers, Golden-breasted Puffleg and a
particularly obliging Rainbow-bearded Thornbill.

After this, we visited some hummingbird feeders which added Black-thighed Puffleg, Mountain
Velvetbreast and Buff-winged Starfrontlet.
Some final searching added Paramo Tapaculo
and Many-striped Canastero before it was time to drop
down to some balmier elevations.
We made the fairly short drive to Periera where
we arrived at Otun Quimbaya in the late afternoon. As we
drove in, we picked up Torrent Tyrannulet and a
surprise Blackish Rail along the river. We then made a
short walk near the lodge which quickly produced a
couple of Red-ruffed Fruitcrows, a pair of Cauca
Guans, Chestnut-collared Swift and Fawn-breasted
Tanager.
Paramo Tapaculo by Adam Riley
Day 23: Otun Quimbaya. We set out early and
soon enjoyed one of the most memorable moments of the trip when we had a pair of hip-swiveling
Hooded Antpittas dancing around almost overhead. They arrived silently, put on a performance that
would have made Beyoncé blush and then silently melted away. Views were great but it was a bit too
early for photography. Rather than bother them more we decided that it had been so special we should
leave them to their world so we headed out into the sunny morning. A return to the lodge produced a
minor disaster when it became apparent that some bureaucratic nonsense meant we could no longer use
the trail that I had walked for many years. We had to switch plans and bird along the road which
produced fine views of a Streak-capped Treehunter and Black-banded Woodcreeper. We then
headed for the airport with a couple of brief stops which produced a fine male Torrent Duck.
We took an early afternoon flight to Bogota, had lunch in the airport and then took a connecting
flight to Barranquilla. Arriving on the last night of Carnival (Barranquilla’s is the world’s second
biggest after Rio) had filled us with some trepidation but judging by some of the tired looking souls we
passed in the airport, the party was clearly over and we slipped across a virtually deserted city to arrive
at our hotel reasonably early.
Day 24: Isla de Salamanca to Minca. A
crack of dawn start had us looking at the silhouettes
of early rising endemic Chestnut-winged
Chachalacas. We munched on our packed breakfast
as the light improved and once satisfied, we headed
off to some marshes. Here we quickly enjoyed local
specialties such as Stripe-backed Wren and
Caribbena Hornero, while also taking in the rather
bizarre site of a Peregrine dismembering a Purple
Gallinule while perched on a communication mast.
The marshes here are very birdy and we added a

steady stream of new birds including Fulvous and White-headed Whistling Ducks, Ferruginous
Pygmy Owl, Bronze-brown Cowbird (often a
tough bird but plenty this morning), Rufescent
Tiger Heron, Black-collared Hawk, Snail Kite
and best of all several Dwarf Cuckoos. The
building heat saw us retreat to the bus and head
for the shadier mangroves where we found
Chestnut
Piculet,
Bicolored
Conebill,
Sapphire-throated
Hummingbird
and
Common Black Hawk. But perhaps most
interesting was the behavior of a Speckled Tree
Rat at a regular stakeout – seemingly oblivious
to us, it was bobbing on its haunches and
Bicolored Conebill by Adam Riley
making a hissing noise – that is when we
realized that less than a meter away in an
overhanging bush was a reasonably sized Boa Constrictor which was clearly taking an unhealthy
interest in the rat. We didn’t want to intervene and they were still locked in that dance of death when
we left some time later. One has to wonder why the rat simply didn’t turn tail and run which seemed to
us the best option under the circumstances.
We then drove along through the marshes adding a selection of waders and terns and took lunch
at our usual spot where three Bare-throated Tiger Heron’s showed well.
After this, we headed for our hotel in the Santa Marta foothills but a not without a late afternoon
stop, which added Black-backed Antshrike, Whooping Motmot and our best views yet of BlackHawk-eagle and Blue-headed Parrot. We arrived at the hotel with time to enjoy the hummingbird
feeders which held an attendant Pale-bellied Hermit among the commoner species.
Day 25: Minca to El Dorado. We spent the morning birding above Minca where we quickly
found Rufous-breasted and Rufous and White Wrens, Scaled Piculet and Golden-winged Sparrow.
Rosy-thrush Tanager proved much tougher but
most eventually secured views of one individual.
We then began climbing up to El Dorado lodge
birding en route which added Specious and
Coopmans
Tyrannulets,
Grey-throated
Leaftosser, Streak-capped Spinetail, Goldenbreasted Fruiteater and White-lored Warbler. A
lunch stop gave great views of Blossomcrown and
Groove-billed Toucanet.
We arrived at the lodge in the late afternoon
with time to add White-tailed Starfrontlet, Santa
Marta and Sierra Nevada Bushfinches, Santa
Marta Toucanet and Band-tailed Guan. A short

owling session produced fine views of Santa Marta Screech Owl.
Day 26: El Dorado Lodge. An early starts found us on
the San Lorenzo ridge at dawn, where we quickly located
Yellow-crowned Whitestart, Santa Marta Warbler,
Santa Marta Mountain Tanager and Rusty-headed
Spinetail. We followed this with Santa Marta Bush
Tyrant and the only just split Hermit Wood Wren,
Colombia’s newest endemic.
Some of the group then opted to return to the
lodge but others continued birding their way down,
adding Brown-rumped Tapaculo, Santa Marta
Parakeet and White-tipped Quetzal. The late afternoon
Santa Marta Warbler by Adam Riley
was spent staking out the feeders near the lodge with
Black-fronted Wood Quail eventually showing up at
dusk.
Day 27: El Dorado to the Guajira. This morning was spent birding down from the lodge – our
frequent stops produced Rusty-breasted Antpitta, Santa Marta Foliage-gleaner, Santa Marta
Antbird, a showy Santa Marta Tapaculo (which even ran along a rubber water pipe) and Blackheaded Tanager.
We transferred back into the van and headed north east
along the Caribbean coast, enjoying the stunning scenery as we
went. A mid-afternoon stop was very productive with Ruby Topaz,
White-chinned Sapphire, White-bellied Antbird and Chestnutsided Warbler.
We had time for a quick desert stop which produced Whitewhiskered Spinetail and Orinoco Saltator. We finished the day at
a lagoon which held White and Scarlet Ibis, Reddish Egret,
American Flamingo and a selection of waders, gulls and terns.
Day 28: Los Flamencos NP and Chicaque. The last day
started at a Rufous-vented Chachalaca stakeout where we quickly
enjoyed views of these shy birds. We also added Grey-lined and
Crane Hawk. We then headed to the desert where we quickly
found Vermilion Cardinal, Tocuyo Sparrow, Grey Pileated
White-tipped Quetzal by Adam Riley Finch, Black-faced Grassquit and Slender-billed Inezia. A group
of Crested Bobwhite we also much appreciated. We lost our driver
for a short period but once refound we checked another area where we added Green-rumped
Parrotlet and Pearly-vented Tody Tyrant. All too soon it was time to head for the airport – but that
was not the end of our birding. We were out of the airport in Bogota by 2pm and headed off to
Chicaque Park, where despite the Sunday crowds, we added the near Endemic Golden-breasted
Starfrontlet at the feeders and several White-throated Toucanets as our last birds of the trip.
