ABOUT
S AY I T W I T H C L AY
Say It With Clay has a mission is to provide
affordable art therapy programs for special needs
individuals of all ages using the unique potential of
clay to enhance and advance the psychotherapeutic
process. Facilitated work with clay engages sensory,
perceptual, emotional, and cognitive channels that
allow individuals to reach a deeper understanding
of personal experiences. The creative process and
the final work of art provide powerful means of
communication and propel emotional healing at a
quicker pace than verbal therapy alone.
Therapeutic programs target the specific needs
(e.g., grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, Alzheimer’s
and dementia, cancer and other emotionally
debilitating conditions) of both individuals and
their families. However, art making is a health and
wellness enhancing practice that positively impacts
everyone. It is for this reason that SIWC also offers
open enrollment art creation sessions for individuals
or with family and other group members.
SIWC’s founder and CEO, Abbie Kasoff,
has degrees in art therapy and ceramics from
the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, and
25 years of experience working in the fields of
social work and art therapy. Abbie has used her
extensive network of relationships with the special
needs community, school districts, human services
organizations, and healthcare providers to grow
SIWC’s clientele, focusing on economically and
developmentally disadvantaged individuals.
Throughout Abbie’s many years of experience,
she has witnessed countless occasions of where
clay has assisted so many amazing people with
unexpected powerful positive outcomes. Abbie is
extremely passionate about the work she does and
is absolutely motivated by outcomes she believes
are achieved through the power of hands on clay .

Two best friends...
I wanted to accentuate features
that many people are ashamed
of.
The Lovely Lady is a lovely girl
who suffers through difficult moments in life, but no matter what
her beauty is alive and never
fades away.
Whoever has this mask will have
great luck and beauty.
For over 50 years the Occupational
Training Center in Burlington County
has provided vocational training,
rehabilitation services, life-skills
training, and support for adults with
disabilities in New Jersey.
A friendly gray feline!
Creativity is so important. This
experience sparks so much
creativity in everyone, and it was
so much fun!
A representation of a jazz/blues
musician.
Smiles are contagious, and so I
pass this one along...
Here for your entertainment.
You will be happy to have
this smiling sun bursting with
brightness.
This mask was created from a
free flow of ideas as an honest
release of emotion. It speaks to
resilience, fear and ultimately
strength.
Life.

From the primordial soup to

and it’s a bowl.
11 years old
Surrealism and the uncanny
inspired this mask to twist
and turn in unusual directions.
This mask was created
without intention - and formed
throughout the process.
This button face can be
interpreted in a variety of ways.
Body Piercer
Stoneware Glaze. I primarily use
nature, specifically plants and
ocean life, as a reference for
most of my work. Reminiscent
of ocean life, adding imagery of
coral, sea stars and barnacles.
I was inspired by masks in
Venice. I use the leaf shape often
in my fabric art, so I decided
to incorporate the shape in my
mask.
I am an elementary art teacher
who loves to draw. I try to bring
joy and kindness to all my work.
I chose to make a whimsical
mask. When I design with my
clients it can be so intense,
I wanted to show a less
structured side of me.

My mask is a life-long living
tree and I made my mask with
the comfort of my new friends.
They are Abbie and her gang.
Batreesma is a cutout part of a

and I love her.

While I was making my mask,
I was able to really clear my
mind and let it wander. I was
extremely surprised when I saw
where it went.
