Remove both sail panels and sail panel seat
belt retractors. There is a slight modification
that needs to be done to the retractors before
the Sharkbar can be installed. Remove the lap
belt anchor bolt in the rocker panel both left
and right side. Use T50 Torx.
Note: Removing the seats will make the
installation much easier and is recommended.
Instruction are identical for the right and left
Sail Panel Brackets (SPB) installation.
Modification to the seat belt retractors.
The retractor anchor tab will need to be bent up
and out so the Sharkbar sail panel bracket
(SPB) will fit between the sail panel anchor and
the retractor. The picture shows the amount the
retractor-anchoring tab will need to be bent. A
screwdriver and some pliers work well. If the
retractor-anchoring tab isn’t bent out enough
the sail panel bracket will not fit down far
enough to align with the sail panel anchor hole.
Note: If you decide not to reinstall the
retractors, than use the supplied ½ washers
when installing the sail panel anchor bolts.
Some late model C3 Vettes have excessive
mud that might need to removed to allow
enough room for the sail panel bracket (SPB)
to fit into position.
Before installing the SPB, you will need to hang
the belt retractors onto the SPB. Next align the
SPB assembly in place over the sail panel
anchor. While holding the SPB assembly in
place install the 12 mm factory bolt and tighten
snug enough so the SPB will not detach from
the retractor.
Note:
Make sure the tab anchor is positioned
through both the SPB & sail panel tab hole.

The sub bar (anti-submarine) belt
uses a quick disconnect clip that
attach to the eye-bolt on the bracket.
