Advancing Reservoir Performance
It Starts Here.
Maximizing your production with reservoir-driven solutions
©2010 Baker Hughes Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. 29975
Real-world experience sets our reservoir analysis team apart from competitors. Others may know
how to talk the talk, but their “solutions” typically require using their proprietary software and
employing processes built around their capabilities instead of yours.
When our reservoir experts work with you, they bring years of practical operator experience and
hands-on business know-how. The result is a real understanding of your reservoir, its inherent
challenges, and new ways to maximize production including:
„ eliminating reservoir uncertainty through seismic-to-simulation modeling
„ improving mature-oilfield operations
„ managing sand production with maximum efficiency
„ optimizing wellbore placement and completion designs in shale reservoirs
Visit our website www.bakerhughes.com/rds and learn how our Reservoir Development
Services can help you increase your operational efficiency, reduce risks and maximize
your ultimate recovery.

In 2008 the previous PETEX Chairman, Jim Munns, wrote, ‘PETEX
2008 takes place at a time when the financial world is in turmoil.’ Now
in 2010, much of the turmoil may have subsided, but we are living
in the dark aftermath of those crises – yet despite the traumas that
the recession brings, the petroleum industry remains largely in good
shape as far as meeting the world’s energy demands. The growth
of unconventionals, particularly in North America, has played an
enormous part in meeting the US domestic market, and so easing the
situation elsewhere. Moreover, the role to be played by the petroleum
industry in the storage part of CCS becomes ever more apparent, and
as we move from pilot and demonstration projects into the ‘real thing’,
such activity will surely form a significant part of the industry’s future.
PETEX 2010 includes a taste of the possible new futures for our
industry, as well as bridging the demographic divide between today’s
and tomorrow’s practitioners through inclusion of the joint PESGB
and Geological Society London Collaboration Conference. Finally,
on behalf of the PETEX and PESGB committees, I wish to thank the
exhibitors and sponsors for their support.

A NEW CORRELATION TOOL
Biogenic Silica Particles
Globally, significant oil and gas
reserves occur in so-called
“barren red-beds”. A new
biostratigraphic technique, based
on biogenic silica particles,
solves key stratigraphic questions
in these “barren” sediments.
TNO is an independent research and
technology organization with around
4,600 researchers connecting people
and knowledge to create innovations

Redefining inteRpRetation to meet youR
challenges
Paradigm makes it possible to merge petrophysical interpretation into
conventional correlation, interpretation and modeling workflows.
Your team will concurrently characterize and interpret at different
scales, understanding the interaction of petrophysics with the
seismic signal. This really puts vital rock and fluid properties within
your reach.

RPS provides independent and flexible support across a number of industry sectors, helping our clients
achieve their technical and commercial goals. Upstream oil and gas projects remain a central part of our work,
but we are also world leaders in advice to offshore windfarm operators and are increasingly involved in other
forms of renewable energy. In the last 2 years we have developed a growing track record in undertaking highlevel downstream oil and gas work as well as strategic gas studies. Transferring skills across these sectors is a
core capability for RPS.
Each year we undertake over 2,000 projects, in more than 100 countries, for over 400 clients, including
governments, NOCs, IOCs, independents, financial institutions and utilities as well as other infrastructure and
asset owners. Our projects span operational support, technical & commercial studies and advisory work in
the spheres of geoscience, engineering, survey, HSE, petroleum economics, risk management and business
consultancy. Our clients value our independence, which ensures that we can provide proper quality control
and assurance for our clients operations, technical and commercial audit as well as evaluations for reporting

Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry (FTG) accurately maps subsurface density contrasts caused by
target geology, and simultaneously maps their geological setting. Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry
utilises military, state-of-the-art technology. The instrument is usually flown at around 80m and has
successfully imaged geology of less than 100m in size. The Bell Geospace gradiometer utilises
all tensor components to offer a shape, form and dimension to subsurface geology, which, when
combined with 12 years’ experience in processing and interpretation, makes Bell Geospace’s FTG
a key tool when unravelling complex geological puzzles. Forward modelling is provided free of
charge for those considering the technology.

its diverse analytical service portfolio. Our inorganic geochemical datasets characterise and
correlate sequences, and can model changes in facies, provenance, paleoclimate, diagenesis and
reservoir quality through our mineralogical service. Our established ‘lithotyping’ methodology allows
characterisation from core to be extrapolated into uncored intervals through ditch cutting analysis.
With worldwide experience, having worked on virtually every reservoir section from Precambrian
to Tertiary, our technique is used for reservoir to subregional scale stratigraphic correlations
and pre-drill feasibility studies. We integrate our datasets with routine stratigraphic tools giving a
comprehensive stratigraphic framework.

Geomage provides services based on our MultiFocusing technology. MF is a MacroModel
independent technology that provides an alternative to conventional seismic processing. MF
is based on a non-hyperbolic moveout correction that provides a better approximation of
true reflection time than the hyperbolic one. In addition, during the MF process new physical
parameters are extracted that allow clients to receive a new, more coherent, higher resolution
image. We offer MultiFocusing based 2D/3D processing, enhanced pre-stack gathers, diffraction
imaging, anisotropy and multiples attenuation. Geomage MultiFocusing is dealing efficiently with:
complex structure; poor signal/noise ratio data; and low fold data, legacy data and sparse data.

Our future lies in innovation.
Your future lies with us.
Transform your career for a better future. Join Saudi
Aramco now and be a part of one of the most
progressive oil companies in the world.
A Global Company
Saudi Aramco is a fully integrated, global petroleum enterprise and
world leader in exploration and producing, refining, distribution,
shipping and marketing, employing a multinational workforce of
more than 55,000 people.
The company manages the largest proven reserves of conventional
crude oil, 260 billion barrels, and manages the fourth-largest gas
reserves in the world, 263 trillion cubic feet. Being entrusted with
these resources carries responsibility and a firm belief that a
sustainable energy future requires investment in technology,
teamwork and talented people.
Exploration & Production
The likelihood of discovering additional reserves is high, with more
than half of Saudi Arabia’s potential hydrocarbon-bearing areas still
relatively unexplored. As our exploration activities expand, so does
our imaging and interpretation technology, and even more critical
than the deployment of new technology, is the development of the
people who will use these advanced tools.
We are setting new standards in oil production technology – that
is why we have been named the No. 1 oil company in the world
for the 20th year in a row by Petroleum Intelligence Weekly.
Shape Your Career
A career with Saudi Aramco means being at the forefront of
technological advances and meeting the challenges of a dynamic
global energy market. You will enjoy long-term job security,
unparalled career opportunities and amazing benefits from the
world’s leading energy provider.
Here at PETEX 2010 you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your career prospects within Saudi
Aramco. Visit us at stand F2 and have an informative chat with our recruitment representatives.
