EUROCAMP 2012
WELCOME …
WELCOME
Dear friends,
Welcome to RESPECT your Health Eurocamp
2012, a truly inspiring initiative that the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and
Education is proud to support!
Eurocamp 2012 provides a great opportunity
for young people from diverse social backgrounds across Europe to enjoy five days of
intercultural workshops, football, learning and
positive encounters in Wroclaw, Poland.
The Committee on Education and Culture
sees great potential in youth sports events,
which serve as a platform for people from
diverse cultures to come together and unite
behind their passion for sports. In addition to
the exchanges between all participants, the
hosts get a chance to present their own culture, hospitality and openness to the rest of
Europe.
The event will bring together organisations
from all over Europe working in the field of
Development through Football. These organisations use football as a tool to promote social
inclusion and gender equality, provide access
4
to education, encourage healthier lifestyles
and set up strategic partnerships for development.
Eurocamp 2012 is an excellent occasion to
bring together young people for an experience
which enables them to develop important life
skills and grasp the opportunity to shape their
own future.
The event will be a great experience for all
parties involved. I am confident that all participants will leave Eurocamp 2012 with positive
long-lasting memories.

Dear friends,
The RESPECT your Health Eurocamp 2012
will draw on the positive experiences of
uefa EURO 2012 and foster intercultural
exchanges between young people from all 53
UEFA member countries during five exciting
days full of new encounters, fair play, learning
and respect.
Together, we can make this event a huge success, reaching beyond the football pitch and
passing on positive and long-lasting values.
Have a great time!

WELCOME
UEFA believes strongly in the power of football
to unite individuals, groups and entire nations.
Football can be used as a bridge for communication between the many diverse European
cultures and societies.
These attributes were reflected throughout
UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine,
which were the first ever European Football
Championship finals to take place in Eastern
Europe.
UEFA also believes that such an event should
leave behind a long-lasting legacy and, to
this end, we are proud to have implemented
RESPECT your Health – Euroschools 2012,
the official community health education programme of UEFA EURO 2012, in which over
50,000 children and young people took part
in Poland and Ukraine. As another example
of our commitment to leaving a legacy that
extends beyond the football field, we are
happy to welcome you to Wroclaw for the
final highlight of UEFA EURO 2012:
the RESPECT your Health Eurocamp 2012!
EUROCAMP 2012
RESPECT YOUR HEALTH
RESPECT YOUR
HEALTH
RESPECT your Health - Euroschools 2012 is
the official community health education programme of this year’s UEFA EURO 2012. The
one-year project aimed to promote healthy
lifestyles, with a focus on smoking prevention,
responsible alcohol consumption, healthy diet
and physical activity among young people and
their families in Poland and Ukraine. Through
a train the trainers approach, local institutions
and NGOs in the eight UEFA EURO 2012 Host
Cities were empowered to activate their communities and promote healthy living.
During the past year, Polish and Ukrainian communities have established a pool of over 600
RESPECT your Health volunteers offering a
variety of healthy lifestyle activities for
children, young people and their families.
Regular workshops for teachers, coaches and
community workers, a specially developed
guidebook, an interactive website and a physical activity school programme called Muuvit
from Finland are just a few of the tools that
helped the project reach out to over 50,000
kids across Poland and Ukraine.
RESPECT your Health Eurocamp 2012
is the final highlight of UEFA EURO 2012 and
RESPECT your Health. The girls and boys
from the eight UEFA EURO 2012 Host Cities
will be joined by young people from around
50 UEFA nations at Eurocamp 2012 to celebrate Europe´s diversity, football and health.

excitement of Eurocamp 2012, and share it
with an international community of over 300

RESPECT your Health Eurocamp 2012
is far more than just a football event; it is a
celebration of the beautiful game and its
power to bring people from different backgrounds together. With financial support from
the European Commission and in association with UEFA and the City of Wroclaw,
Eurocamp 2012 brings together around 250
people from diverse social backgrounds invited from 53 nations for five days of intercultural
workshops, football, learning and fun.
Eurocamp 2012 in Poland will be a “global
village” experience with young people from
all over Europe coming together, speaking a
range of different languages and representing
many different cultures. Delegates will spend
the first few days in interactive workshops on
various topics such as fair play and youth social entrepreneurship, the EU’s role in youth
and sport development, as well as learning
more about social inclusion and cohesion
through various integrated activities. These
workshops provide an excellent opportunity
for the participants to demonstrate and develop leadership skills and build new friendships. These will be further strengthened by
a mixed-teams football tournament which will
conclude Eurocamp 2012.
Young Leader team
Eurocamp 2012 uses a very special approach
by actively engaging young leaders to support
the implementation of the event. A group of
32 young people from Development through
Football organisations from across Europe
were selected based on their active involvement, strong commitment and leadership
skills. During a preparatory meeting, they were
trained by KICKFAIR in Germany to prepare
for their role and learn how to mediate a
football3 tournament.

28 August – 2 September
Dear friends,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to
Eurocamp 2012, a unique event hosted
by streetfootballworld in association with
UEFA EURO 2012 and with the tremendous
support of the European Parliament and the
European Commission.
Bringing together young people from across
the continent, Eurocamp 2012 is more than
just a football tournament – it is a celebration
of diversity, dialogue and respect.
Welcome to Wrocław
for RESPECT your Health Eurocamp 2012!
With its multicultural heritage, Wrocław is a
city of tolerance and openness, reflecting the
richness of Central Europe’s culture.
As an official UEFA EURO 2012 Host City,
the European Capital of Culture in 2016 and
host to the World Games in 2017, we believe
that events such as Eurocamp 2012 can help
foster social change and promote integration,
strengthening a multicultural European identity and removing barriers.
We would therefore like to encourage all our
European neighbours to visit us and take
part in this great event of football, peace and
integration.
I hope that all participants take home long
lasting memories and the spirit of this unique
event in Wrocław, Poland.
We are especially pleased to continue our
cooperation with UEFA and the European
Commission, to collaborate with outstanding partners like Volunteers for Sport and the
City of Wroclaw, to be supported by some of
our most dedicated network member organisations and to work with all European Football
Associations and their partner organisations.
On behalf of everyone at streetfootballworld,
I thank you all for helping to make this event
possible and wish each and every participant
a wonderful festival in Wroclaw!

In 1982 the Orange Alternative, an
underground protest movement, opposed the
ruling communist regime through a rather
unorthodox means of peaceful protest:
by simply placing dwarfs and other
absurdand nonsensical items on the
streets of Wroclaw.
Today, more than
180 dwarfs can be found
throughout the city
of Wroclaw. Watch
your step and
avoid stumbling
over a dwarf.
It may bring

Workshops
for Delegation Leaders
An interesting set of workshops for the
Delegation Leaders will be offered by
Development through Football NGOs
Sport Against Racism Ireland,
Street League and Albion in the Community.
The participants can learn how sports,
particularly football, can be used in order
to develop multicultural integration,
health education and employability.
The Eurocamp 2012 football tournament
will be played at the UNESCO world
heritage Centennial Hall following the
football3 methodology. Using special rules,
football3 creates a platform for interactive
social learning which enables players to
experience what treating others fairly
– and being treated fairly – means.
football3 is a game of “three halves”
where the teams come together prior to
the match to discuss the rules,
then play and then come back again
to reflect upon the game.

streetfootballworld believes in the unique
power of football to change lives and bring
people together behind a common goal. The
streetfootballworld network unites over 90
community-based organisations in more than
60 countries worldwide which use football to
tackle issues ranging from HIV/AIDS education and gender equality to homelessness,
gang violence and landmines. By connecting network members with partners from the
worlds of sport, business, politics and philanthropy, streetfootballworld brings global
power to local initiatives. streetfootballworld
has successfully implemented social legacy
programmes during UEFA EURO 2008 and
2012, with RESPECT your Health Eurocamp

Supporting Partners
Street League is a streetfootballworld
network member delivering services throughout the UK from operational centres in
London, the North East of England and
Glasgow. The organisation uses a unique
programme of football and education to help
participants improve their health, extend their
social networks and gain a positive outlook.
At Eurocamp 2012 they will share their expertise in using football to help young people
find employment, education or training opportunities.
The European Youth Forum empowers
young people to participate actively in shaping Europe and the societies in which they
live. The European Youth Forum assisted in

particularly football, as a medium to combat
racism, sectarianism, homophobia and other
