Dropbox
Dropbox is a free file storage and synchronization tool
that gives you access to your files from any computer
or device. Dropbox keeps your files safe, synced and
easy to share. An individual can receive up to 8GB of
free space when you invite friends to share your files.
At our campus, we use Dropbox for our lesson plans
and PLC notes. This enables staff members to have
access to shared files from anywhere.
Twitter
Twitter is a tool CISD uses to communicate with parents,
students, staff, and community. There is no need to have a
Twitter account to follow your child’s campus Twitter.
You can choose to receive the short messages through
texts and you can follow more than one campus at a time. I
use Twitter to send daily reminders, updates on weather,
information concerning school, or celebrations for grade
levels. Within our school account, we also have grade level
accounts where parents can receive information from
their child’s grade level.

Instructional Strategies

The lead4ward instructional resource is designed to provide teachers
with detailed descriptions of specific high-yield strategies. It is intended
to support educators in using an intentional planning process to include
these strategies in their efforts to deliver rigorous, engaging instruction
that incorporates various learning modalities, aligns to the TEKS, and
infuses the highly tested process standards.
Comprehension Tower
1. Groups of students are provided a set of wooden
blocks. One number is written on each block.
2. Students build a tower.
3. One student at a time removes a block from the
tower trying not to collapse the tower. Using a
provided list of numbered discussion prompts and/or
questions, each student removes a block and addresses
the corresponding prompt or question.
4. After the prompt or question has been addressed,
the block is placed on the top section of the tower.
Dice Game
1. Organize students into groups of 2, 3 or 4’s.
2. Students will solve a practice assessment item.
3. Each student will roll a dice.
4. If they roll:
1 - They decide if the problem looks like a sample their
teacher has used in class or if it looks different and
why.
2 - They describe the problem solving model/strategy
they used to solve.
3 - They identify one wrong answer and explain.
4 - They create a new problem similar to the one solved.
5 - They resolve by changing the process.
6 - They identify all academic vocabulary needed to solve
and then define in their journals.
Investigating the Question
(IQ) Slap Down
1. Organize students in groups of 3-4.
2. Each member should get a set of “ABCD” cards.
3. Round 1: At the teacher’s signal, students slap down
the answer choice that represents the worst answer
and then justify their response.
4. Round 2: At the teacher’s signal, students slap down
the answer choice that represents the best
wrong/incorrect answer and then justify why many
students may have mistakenly chosen that answer.
5. Round 3: At the teacher's signal students slap down
the answer that represents the correct answer and
then justify why this is the appropriate response.
