intimate setting of our Leonore Peyton Salon.
Saturday, November 14, 2015 • 7:30PM
an evening with jimmy baldwin
Featuring Jimmy Baldwin and Friends
Place des Arts guitar teacher Jimmy Baldwin is a versatile and modern
guitarist and “gregarious country crooner.” Flowing smoothly between
funky up-tempo grooves, exciting displays of musicianship and a few softer
ballads, Jimmy and his band of accomplished professionals will deliver a
lively, often foot-stomping performance. From the funky, country/soul
sounds of his debut album Changing Time to rockier and more R&Binfluenced new material, Jimmy’s sound is at once familiar and original.
Saturday, November 28, 2015 • 7:30PM
A souvenir for christmas
Featuring Dina Kholina and Friends
Faculty member Dina Kholina and her guests Irina Faletski (piano)
and Olga Kholina (soprano) present an evening of sparkling classical
melodies. Enjoy the music of Handel, Tchaikovsky and Milhaud, among
others, as well as a few dazzling Christmas duets and songs to get you
into the holiday spirit!

A Celebration of Robbie Burns
Scottish-Inspired Supper: 6:00PM
Rosie Carver and Blackthorn Concert 7:30PM
Back by popular demand for the fourth year, fiddler and
faculty member Rosie Carver with Celtic band Blackthorn
and a guest piper invite you to celebrate Scotland’s
national bard, Robbie Burns! Blackthorn will feature the
musical traditions of Scotland with a special focus on
Burns’ songs.
Come for the concert at 7:30pm or come early at 6pm to
enjoy a delicious Scottish-inspired supper and stay on for
the concert. From lively jigs and reels to heart-wrenching
airs and ballads, you will savour Blackthorn’s rendition of
Scottish melodies and the intricately woven harmonies
that bring this music to life in a new way, amply flavoured with humour and above all else, fun! At the end
of the first set, the guest piper will pipe in the haggis and recite the Address to a Haggis. (Yes, we promise
to share a wee sampling of this traditional delicacy with you!)
Robert Burns, born January 25, 1759, poet and lyricist known affectionately as “Rabbie” Burns, is the focus
of world-wide celebrations by Scots and their admirers nearly 250 years later. It is Burns’ genius that the
sound and rhythm of his words, whether set to music or recited, create an emotional bond that is ageless
. . . an immortal memory of everyday life as relevant today as yesterday.

Saturday, February 20, 2016 • 7:30PM
Harp through the ages
Featuring Rebecca Blair and Friends
This concert will feature music both old and new inspired by the harp.
From songs that harken from the middle ages to tunes written just
yesterday, faculty member Rebecca Blair with guests Judy Henry (harp
and flute) and Michelle Carlisle (flute and vocals) will take you on a
delightful musical journey through history.
Featuring Roger Mangas and Monica Pfau
Spend the evening enjoying familiar classic treasures and exploring a
few newer works. Violinist Roger Mangas and pianist Monica Pfau will
take you on a journey of reminiscence with a Beethoven Sonata and
entice your curiosity with a Romanian Rhapsody by George Enescu.
Additional works include four pieces by Erich Korngold written as
incidental music for Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.
