Good evening, and welcome to Sweet Pea Cottage’s tenth annual
auction. Our Once Upon a Time theme illuminates the magic that
happens each day here at Sweet Pea and the wonder and hope our
littles will carry with them into their future.
We hold dear our wonderful community of dedicated teachers,
administrative staff, Board members, talented artists, committed
cultural ambassadors, alumni, and of course, our wonderful littles and
their families. I am proud and honored to be a part of this evening as
we continue to support Sweet Pea’s mission. We are all here
celebrating dreams, possibilities and bright futures – all of which are
fostered through the arts.
Thank you to all who have worked so hard on this year’s event –
especially our Team Leaders: Becky Pelletier, Carol George, Kat Lin,
Linda Sherran, Maya Lang, Michele Janes, Nicole Doyle, Pamela
Jaynes, and Tracy Martinez. Thank you also to our dedicated Board
President, Laura Boyd, our past Board President, Sara Eaton, and the
rest of our wonderful Board of Directors for supporting us in leading
the way every day. Most of all, our sincere thanks to the Sweet Pea
administrators and teachers – because of you, our littles are truly able
to discover, create, and celebrate their imaginative world!

Dear Family and Friends,
Welcome to the tenth annual auction, Once Upon a Time. We are here
to celebrate and support our children, the talented and dedicated
teachers and staff and the mission of Sweet Pea Cottage Preschool of
the Arts. Thank you for joining us!
Your presence here and generosity of time and money allows Sweet Pea
to provide the innovative arts program our "littles" enjoy each day. Our
early child education enhances every student's understanding of
themselves and the world and gives each child an amazing start to
years of learning and discovery.
Have fun and enjoy visiting with new and old friends. There are so

EVENING HIGHLIGHTS...
DINNER AND DRINKS
We will enjoy catering by the Renaissance Seattle Hotel, with delectable
dishes for vegetarian and non-vegetarian alike. Each guest will receive a
drink ticket good for domestic beer or wine. Additional drink tickets are
available for $8. A no-host full bar service will be available throughout the
evening.
SILENT AUCTION
Registration entitles you to a bidder number. Your bidder number is located
on both your bidder card and nametag. It allows you to bid on all items in the
Silent and Live Auctions. There are three Silent Auction sections this
evening, each with separate closings. To place a bid on a Silent Auction item,
print your name and bidder number clearly on the bid sheet next to the
amount you would like to bid. Remember, you may skip lines if you wish! All
bids must be written prior to the closing of the section. The silent auctions will
close at various intervals throughout the evening. Closing times will be
announced 5 minutes and 1 minute before closing, and counted down from 30
seconds, and the winning bidders will be confirmed. The first bidder to sign for
the “Guaranteed Bid” price becomes the final purchaser, and bidding on that
item is concluded.
LIVE AUCTION
We have over 25 Live Auction items this year! Raise your bidder card to bid
on amazing trips, events, parties, and experiences. Each item goes to the
highest bidder.
GIFT CERTIFICATE FRENZY
Get ready for action during this year’s Gift Certificate Frenzy! The fastest
hand will take home a great gift card at face value. Listen to the Auctioneer
during the Live Auction for full details on how the game is played.
WIN THE WINE CELLAR
Remember the amazing wine collections that went home with our lucky
winners last year? Well, this year we are offering two Wine Cellars, each with
over 50 bottles valued at over $1,500! Your chance to bid for first choice of the
available Wine Cellars will come during the Live Auction. Don’t want to be in
a bidding war but still want a chance to win? We are also featuring a Wine
Cellar in this year’s raffle opportunities. Simply purchase raffle tickets ($25
each) for your change to win. The lucky winners will be announced at the
conclusion of the Live Auction; must be present to win. Good luck!

DESSERT DASH
Back by popular demand, and the highlight of the evening! Our very talented
Sweet Pea bakers have created a variety of mouth-watering desserts. At your
place setting, you will find a Dessert Dash bid card to fill out. The table with
the highest overall dessert bid will be announced toward the start of the Live
Auction. When your table number is called, the designated runner for your
table will dash across the room and claim your dessert. Your chosen dessert
will then be cut and prepared as necessary by the Renaissance catering staff
and delivered to your table for you to enjoy!
FUND-AN-ITEM
Don’t miss this important part of the Live Auction! This fund is used to
purchase items that are essential for the day-to-day operations of our school.
When the amount you would like to contribute is announced, raise your bidder
card high in the air. Our goal for Fund-an-Item is to raise $15,000 this year,
and we have all the confidence in the world our Sweet Pea friends and families

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Christy Duffy, mother of two incredible Sweet Pea graduates, was a beloved
member of our community who is deeply missed. To honor her memory, Sweet
Pea established this very special scholarship that is granted to families who
would otherwise be unable to afford to send their children to our school. Raise
your bid cards to contribute to this very important fund.
DVD OF SWEET PEA LITTLES
Sit back and prepare to be amazed as you watch this video of your littles in
action! Special thanks to Beth Davis Craig, Wayne Rawley, Alyssa Bostwick,
and Birdhouse Creative for creating this work of art. This year’s DVD will be
available to purchase for $10.

correctness of any description shown in this catalog or made orally. The
values listed are estimates only and are not warranted for tax purposes or fair
market value. Items have not been appraised unless noted. The Auction
Committee reserves the right to withdraw or add items from the auction
without prior notice.
• Sweet Pea Cottage Preschool of the Arts is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)3
organization. Items purchased above the estimated market value, the
amount listed by the donor as the actual cost, may be tax-deductible.
Consult your tax advisor.
• All purchases are final. There are no refunds or exchanges.
• A final bid acknowledged by the Auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase
the item.
• Unless otherwise noted, all items and services must be used no later than
March 2, 2014.
• Reservations for trips and vacations must be mutually arranged with the

ABSENTEE BIDDING
Need to send your regrets to the auction, but still want to bid on some of our
fabulous items? You may have a friend or family member bid on your behalf if
you aren’t able to attend. In order to do so, we need you to complete the
Absentee Bidding forms in the Sweet Pea office prior to the event.
CHECK-OUT
Guests will have the option to Express Pay by swiping a credit card at
registration, thus eliminating the need to see the cashier at the end of the
event. Non-Express Pay bidders with sales can swipe a credit card or pay by
check at the end of the event. We highly encourage participants to participate
in Express Pay to expedite the check-out process at the end of the evening.
Silent auction item pick up will be available beginning at approximately 8:45
pm, and live items shortly after they are sold.
