nematodes. It contains no filter and is pre-calibrated to apply 20 gallons of
spray using one Nemoglobe. One application covers 3000 sq. ft. Just add
the contents of the nematode package and fill with water to the maximum
fill level. Choose the flat spray setting and apply to the coverage area for at
least 5 minutes in a side-to side spraying motion. Continue agitating sprayer
throughout the application.

Beneficial Insects
Beneficial organisms attack pests, not people, plants or pets. Beneficials are not pesticides; they need some lead time to work. They should be used
as part of an integrated system of pest management which also includes fertilizing, hygienic cultural practices, planting pest-resistant varieties,
intercropping, proper irrigation, monitoring, trapping, etc. For maximum effectiveness, beneficial releases should begin when pest densities are at
low to medium levels. If your pest problem is already severe, it may be better to apply a safe, short-residual pesticide to kill a portion of the pests and
then introduce the beneficials. Our Pest Control Solutions Chart on page 28 gives a brief outline for the uses of these beneficials. It is not meant

Releasing the nematodes as soon as you receive them into warm, moist
soil between 55˚ and 90˚ F will give you the best results. Complete

Parasitic nematodes can be stored in a refrigerator for up to two weeks.
You may store unused portions in a large shallow container, filled with
about ½" of water. This is to ensure that they do not dry out and that the
maximum area is exposed to the air so they can breathe. These may be
stored for up to two months.

Get a good book, join your local beekeepers’
association, and set-up two hives!
• Why two? Comparable observation is the best tool for
beginning beekeepers.
• Paint the outside (only the outside) of your hives with
a clear varnish (try PolyWhey, GO3000) or paint to
increase the durability of your hive.
• Bees can distinguish between colors. If you’re getting
more than one hive, consider painting them different
colors so the bees can easily identify their home &
colony.
Where Do I Get Bees?
• There are hundreds of apiaries or bee yards nationwide. Many sell packaged bees and some can mail bees
through the postal service.
• We recommend one three pound package of bees with
a queen per hive.
• You may also be able to collect an unwanted swarm of
bees from a neighbor. Contact your local beekeepers’
association to find out if there’s a swarm catching crew
and whether you can assist.

We’re proud of the quality of materials used to construct our beehive.
With the exception of the cedar hive stand, the hive is constructed from hand selected
Ponderosa pine from the Northwest. To prevent warping, each board is moisture metered
before it is precision milled. Uniform interlocking joints add strength and holes are predrilled before nailing to prevent splitting during assembly. You’ll receive a fully assembled
hive and we want you to know we’ve done our best sourcing our materials.
What’s in a frame? A beehive with top bar frames allows you to remove and inspect
the comb for brood development, pest monitoring, and honey production. Our frames
come pre-assembled with a plasticell foundation coated in beeswax. Bees can more quickly
draw their honey comb when given a foundation to work off of and this is most common in
commercial apiaries. Given a little extra time, honey bees can draw their own comb within
an empty frame.
What’s in the Beehive Kit:
Copper Roof This hive cover protects the hive from the weather and invaders with style.
Inner cover constructed of wood frame & sturdy masonite is strong, durable & will not
shrink thanks to mortise and tenon construction. Helps insulate hive from heat and cold.
Two 6 5/8” Tall Honey Supers with taper cut handholds made from ponderosa pine.
This is where the bees will store their extra honey which may be harvested by the beekeeper.
Add the first super after both brood boxes have at least 12 frames full of comb. Add the
second super after the first super is half way full of honey.

Metal Queen Excluder Precisely spaced welded wires and bound metal edges will keep
your queen in the brood boxes and prevent her from laying eggs in the honey supers.

This is where the bees make their home, where the queen lays eggs, and the bees store
enough honey and pollen for the hive to survive during winter. The beekeeper should not
“harvest” honey from the two brood boxes. Start with one brood box. When 6 frames are
full of comb, add the second brood box.
Sixteen 9 1/4” Top Bar Frames with plasticell foundation (which is easily removable).
Solid Bottom Board & wooden entrance reducer made from ponderosa pine. Seal up
the bottom of your hive with a bottom board. Use the entrance reducer to keep critters out
and to help the guard bees keep other insects out of their hive.
Rustic Cedar Hive Stand Keep your hive dry and off the ground with rot-resistant
cedar. Either the solid bottom board (included) or a screened bottom board (see online) will
fit atop this stand.
Boardman Entrance Feeder When pollen supplies are low, you may need to feed your
bees. This feeder makes refilling easy without opening the hive. Simply put a sugar syrup in
a standard mason jar (not included), screw on the perforated metal cap (included), and set it
in the boardman stand. Fits very snugly at the entrance of the hive.

two step process. First, the flies enter the trap in an effort to access an odorous bait.

Flea beetles are tiny beetles
(1/4 to 1/16 in long) that
jump when disturbed. They
overwinter as adults in soil, in
leaves, and in brushy or woody
areas. They emerge in early
spring when temperatures

of plants. Eggs hatch in 1
or 2 weeks. Larvae feed on plants until fully grown, then pupate

Codling Moth Virus
CYD-X Infects and kills the larvae of codling moths
Each virus particle is naturally microencapsulated within a protein occlusion body
(OB) that protects it to some degree from
degradation. Lab studies have determined
that a dose of 1 to 2 OBs is all that is required
to cause a lethal infection in half of the
codling moth larvae tested. A single ounce of
CYD-X biological insecticide contains nearly
one trillion OBs. CydX should be applied
at least twice during each larval generation.
For homeowners: One teaspoon of CYD-X
mixed with 5 gallons of water may be sprayed
into the canopy of your apple trees to control
codling moths. Commercial growers use 1-6
oz/acre per application. Must be refrigerated.

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) • Bacillus thuringiensis, Bt, is a naturally occurring bacteria with many
powerful insect-specific strains. Like other biologicals, Bts biodegrade in
sunlight and may require reapplication. Biological Insecticides • “Biologicals” are naturally-occurring insecticidal organisms, usually
bacteria, which attack only specific pests.
• Highly effective, insect-specific, biodegradable and nontoxic to humans,
animals, beneficial insects and the environment. Botanical Insecticides/Fungicides • Made from plants which are shown to have pesticidal qualities.
• Safer to the user and the environment than chemical pest controls, yet
very strong and should be used as a last resort.
Neem Extracts • This botanical insecticide is extracted from the seed of the tropical neem tree.
• Used for centuries against aphids, whiteflies, thrips, hornworms,
leafminers, gypsy moths, weevils, webworms, loopers, sawflies and more.
• Can harm beneficial insects.
Neem Oil: Broad Spectrum Insecticide/Miticide • Broad-spectrum pesticide which acts as an insecticide, fungicide, and
miticide.
• Works by coating plant surfaces, therefore preventing fungal spore
germination and killing external fungi on leaf surfaces.
• Suffocates insects and mites on contact and is especially effective on
whiteflies, aphids and other soft bodied insects.
• Can also kill bees if they are exposed to direct treatment so we recommend
applying this product when they are not visiting your plants.
Oil products • Can be used as dormant oils, growing-season sprays, or spray adjuvants
for smothering such pests as overwintering scales, mites, aphids, and
peach twig borer.
Pyrethrins • Broad-spectrum, contact-kill insecticide is an extract of the crushed, dried
flowers of Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium
• Has at least 6 active insecticidal qualities.
• Quickly broken down in the sunlight, so it has a short residual in the
field. For this reason it may require repeated applications.
Spinosad
• A nerve and stomach poison derived via fermentation from the naturally
occurring bacterium Saccharopolyspora spinosa.
• Low mammalian toxicity and helps conserve beneficials.

Debug Turbo Broad Spectrum Insecticide Debug Turbo is a broad-spectrum
insecticide that controls many insects,
nematodes, mites and fungal diseases
in vegetables plants, fruits, trees, roses
and ornamentals. It is the only neem
product that has a combination of Neem
oil Margosa, several triterpenoids, and
Azadirachtin, at a high concentration of
66.5%, and a synergist. It is about 5 times
more potent than its predecessor product
Agroneem Plus and is cheaper per acre. As

The National Organic Program
The Federal Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 standardized US organic
farming practices so consumers could expect consistent use of the word organic.
Certified organic farmers must follow NOP specifications to determine which
materials (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) they can use. When manufacturers give us
a letter of compliance with the National Organic Program, we mark the product
with the Meets NOP logo.
Organic Materials Review Institute
The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) evaluates the acceptability of
products for organic use. Its evaluation process now takes NOP specifications
into consideration. Many organic certifiers have long relied on OMRI’s lists to
simplify the process of determining allowable materials. For more information

Washington State Dept. of Agriculture
The Washington State Department of Agriculture also has an
organic program that looks at the acceptability of products for organic use,

Biological Fungicides

poly, shade cloth...etc.), live plants, nursery stock, bargain items, broken bags and
beneficial insects are not returnable or refundable under any circumstances.
• It is also important to note that PVF&GS does not offer a satisfaction
guarantee. Accordingly, we do not accept returns of items that were used as we
can’t resell them as new and/or return them to vendors simply because they didn’t
meet your expectation.
• Our return policy for food processing items is different from our standard
return policy due to hygiene concerns. Even if an item has not been used, if the
box has been opened, we will assess a 15% restocking fee as we must re-sell the
item as an ”open box” at a discount.
• Within 30 days of purchase or delivery, whichever the latter, you can return

Drop ship orders will often be delivered within two weeks of ordering, but in
some cases these orders can take longer due to product availability and weather
delays. Once an order has shipped, your order cannot be cancelled.
Shipping to Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, Puerto Rico and the US
Virgin Islands Items generally ship to these locations via USPS Priority
Mail. USPS does not guarantee transit time and Parcel Post can take up to
several weeks to AK, HI, and PR. FedEx Service is available but is generally
quite a bit more expensive. Boat and Barge shipments for palletized orders are
available. Call for a quote. Perishable items and beneficial insects cannot ship
to these locations.

3-Day Return Policy for Perishable Merchandise We guarantee
the perishable merchandise we sell (including but not limited to, garlic bulbs,
flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion transplants...etc.) to be in good, viable
condition when we sell them. However, because these items will deteriorate
over time, we expect you to inspect them carefully upon receipt and
plant them without any delay. Should there be any quality problem, you
must notify us within 3 (three) days of your purchase, or delivery, whichever
the latter, to request an exchange or a refund. Beyond 3 days from the date
of purchase, or delivery, whichever the latter, perishable merchandise is not
returnable nor refundable under any circumstances.
Dormant Tree Limited Replacement Guarantee If your dormant
bare-root fruit or nut tree (incl. potted fig or pomegranate) does not leaf
out in Spring, contact our Customer Service by June 1st and return the
dead tree to us for inspection. We will issue you a credit for the price you
paid for that tree (excluding shipping), provided it does not show damage
(from rodent, mechanical . . . etc.) or root rot. This credit is redeemable
toward the purchase of any other bare-root tree of your choice the following
season. We reserve the right to not re-issue credit for replacement of
already replaced trees. This guarantee excludes pecan trees (quite tricky to
transplant), and does not apply to dormant nursery stock (i.e. asparagus,
artichoke, horseradish, rhubarb, blueberry, strawberry, cane berry and grape),
flower bulbs, (evergreen) avocado, citrus & olive trees, onion & leek
transplants, garlic & shallots, seed potatoes and common nursery stock.
Limitation of Remedy We warrant to the extent of the purchase price
only, that the items, seeds or plants sold hereunder are as described on the
catalog, website or label within recognized tolerances. No other warranty is
given, expressed or implied of (1) the merchantability or fitness of the items,
seeds or plants for any particular purpose, or (2) against loss due to any cause.
We cannot accept any responsibility for the many uncontrollable growing
and climatic conditions (soil preparation, fertilization, weed and pest control,
temperature control, irrigation…etc.) that must be met to ensure the success of
your crop(s) or plants.
About Shippable Nursery Stock Orders Seasonal products (perishable
plants) are stocked for a limited duration (harvest and weather dependent).
Orders are filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Due to these factors and
limited storage space, we are unable to accommodate any delay ship dates,
beyond our set shipping schedule. We strongly recommend that you place your
order as early as possible after receiving your catalog.
Turnaround Time and Back Orders Orders where all items are in-stock
typically ship within 1–2 business days, but turnaround time does vary by
season. Expedited shipping options are available upon request.
Tracking Your Order If shipping by FedEx, a tracking number will be
e-mailed to you the day after your order ships. Please contact us immediately if
you think your shipment is lost or if your shipment arrives damaged.
Receiving Your Order When your order arrives, open the package
immediately and inspect the content against the packing slip; it is especially
important to check viability on living plants. Notify us immediately of any
shortages or damage, do not discard any damaged items or shipping cartons.
The shipping company may require an inspection prior to approving any claim.
For Truck Shipments Do not sign for the shipment until you have
confirmed the shipment is complete and has no apparent and/or concealed
damage. If there is a shortage or damage it must be noted on the proof of
delivery, or we cannot accept any responsibility.

brand vegetable seeds from packs are guaranteed to germinate within the year
they are packed for, as indicated on the seed pack, and grow true to name and
color. Once the seeds have sprouted, please understand that Peaceful Valley
cannot be held responsible for the many uncontrollable growing and climatic
conditions that must be met to insure the success of your crop(s).
