the cape, these are the feathers tyers
want for long featherwings on streamers and for palmered hackles on wooly
buggers.

Indian Hen Backs
Indian Hen Backs have excellent feathers for tying small collars, soft hackles
and matuka flies. The feathers are rich
in natural pattern and mottling to create realistic looking tails, fins and legs
on minnows and nymphs.
Assorted Mottled Neck Hackles have large wide feathers
that make them an ideal choice for
tails on dry flies, streamer wings, bass
flies, and saltwater patterns. The hackles are strung together for convenience in selecting the right feather.

and a right side feather and tied in together to create a classic wet fly wing.

Cul de Canard, or CDC, as it is commonly referred to, is a finely-fibered
duck feather with unique floating capabilities. French for “Duck Bottom”,
CDC is buoyant due to its natural oils
and does not require additional
floatants. CDC is often used for tying
emergers and dry fly patterns. It can
be stacked and tied in as a wing; tied in by the tips and palmered, used as a soft hackle feather; spun into dubbing
loops or used as a dubbing material.

Rabbit fur on the hide is one of the
best materials to use on streamers and
sub-surface flies due to its exceptional
life-like movement in the water. Rabbit
Super Strips are cut in 3/8” widths for
larger flies. Zonker Strips are 1/4” wide.
Cross Cut Rabbit Strips are 1/4” wide
and are cut perpendicular to the grain
of the hair, making them great for creating palmered rabbit

the perfect substitute for natural seal.
It is the most reflective fiber we have
found. It can be used as a dubbing enhancer when mixed with natural dubbings. Imi Seal is not quite as stiff as
natural seal, making it easier to dub.

Petitjean Magic Heads
Petitjean Magic Heads are another
great innovation from Swiss fly tyer
Marc Petitjean. They will “change the
way you fish and change the way fish
react to your flies”. The Magic Head is
a soft, silicone-like cup that is tied on
the hook shank during the initial tying
steps. Folded back, the fly moves like a
regular streamer. Flip the head forward and it changes to an
effective, side-to-side, realistic, fish-catching movement.

UNI-Thread is made of continuous, slightly bonded polyester filaments. Ties flat on the hook and comes pre-waxed.
UNI-thread is available in 3/0, 6/0 and 8/0 diameters.
3/0 UNI-Thread (266 denier) is a lightly bonded thread ideal
for spinning deer hair, tying pike flies and saltwater flies.
UNI-Thread 3/0 is available on 50 and 100 yard spools.
6/0 UNI-Thread (135 denier) is an all-purpose fly tying thread.
The 6/0 diameter is perfect for tying flies in the #04 to #12
hook size range. This thread is extremely strong for its diameter and can be used for spinning deer hair. UNI-Thread 6/0
is available on 50 and 200 yard spools.
8/0 UNI-Thread (72 denier) is noted for being exceedingly
strong for its thin diameter. The thread is ideal for tying
small fly patterns down to size #18 and is strong enough
for larger flies as well. The small diameter does not build up
thread bulk and allows for greater control of fly head size.

DANVILLE Acetate Floss
Acetate Floss is an excellent material for tying the ultimate
in durable fly bodies. Acetate Floss is often mistaken for
regular floss and can be used with a bobbin to avoid some
frustration. Once wrapped onto the hook shank, the floss
can look stringy but after being dipped in or brushed with
acetone, the body becomes hard and somewhat translucent, allowing materials and colors tied underneath to show
through.

These solid brass Bead Heads feature color-coated enamel and
a wide-tapered opening on one side to help the bead slide
over the hook barb and around the hook shank. The other side
is small enough not to slide over the hook eye. Bead Heads can

When working with deer, elk and moose hair, a hair stacker
tool is essential for evening the hair tips. Fly patterns such as
bass bugs, elk hair caddis and stimulators all benefit from
using the hair stacker to give flies a professional finish. Use
a small hair stacker for deer hair and a large stacker for elk
and bucktail. Just clip the hair from the patch, remove any
underfur and insert the hair, tip first, into the hair stacker.
Knock the hair stacker on a hard surface a few times to even
out the hairs. Hold the hair stacker horizontally and twist
apart to reveal the evened hair.
