The Beauty of holding your event at Bowood
Events at Bowood benefit from a backdrop of one of England’s finest Georgian
Houses set in the heart of a 2,000 acre Grade 1 listed ‘Capability’ Brown park.
With acres of parking and quick/easy access in and out, this event venue is also
as functional as it is beautiful. Bowood has car parking capacity for 3,500 cars
and can host events for upto 20,000 attendees.
Bowood is a wonderful location for a range of large external events –

Grassed Areas
The grass at Bowood benefits from light, well-drained soil and is continually mown from March to November.
The large grassed area immediately in front of the House terraces (Front of House Field) is
12 acres of flat well maintained grass. There is a ‘hard standing’ road running along the
eastern boundary for vehicular access up to the terraces.
The Triangular Field is 7 acres of well maintained grass between the car parking area and
main event site. It is subdivided by hard standing roads for vehicular access.
The remaining grassed area from the hard standing to the lake is a further 10 acres of grass.
There is a slope on this area leading down to the lake.
Car Parks
The huge car parking area adjacent to the main event field plus the ability to provide
multiple entry and exit points are key to the success of the Bowood Event site.
The main car park has space for 3,500 cars with scope for more parking in other areas if required.
Access
Access for pre-event
contractor traffic, event
build-up and deliveries
is provided via a separate
entrance at the A3102 (see
separate detailed plan).
The gates at this entrance
are 3.4m wide.
There are two other main
entry points that event
visitors can be directed via
(again see separate detailed
plan) – Kennels Lodge or the
main Studley Gate entrance
(used by the public when
visiting Bowood House
and Gardens).
The Lake
The 34 acre lake is almost a mile long and has a ‘straight run’
of at least 840m. The depth of the lake varies from a few inches
in the shallows up to 16ft at its deepest.
Egress at the end of the
event can be via a choice
of 3 options depending on
volumes of traffic.

Other Facilities and Support Services
Hotel, Lodge and Conference Facilities.
The Bowood Estate also offers a high quality 43 bedroom hotel and separate 4 bedroom ‘exclusive use’ lodge.
The hotel has a fine dining restaurant and less formal Brasserie. There is also a Spa with swimming pool and
gymnasium plus an 18 hole championship golf course.
There is a large conference/banqueting suite that holds up to 240 theatre style and 160 for a banquet. The large
suite is supported by 3 further high quality meeting rooms holding up to 26 in a boardroom style.
This part of the Estate has its own entrance and separate parking.
Water
Mains water can be made available from stand pipes adjacent to the event site. A bowser
can also be provided for watering plants etc at specialist events and flower festivals.
Electricity
Event organisers will need to bring in generators to provide electricity which can be moved around
the site using the hard standing roads.
