Spring Hill neighborhood last month when a sink hole swallowed
an en re house. The kind of damage that destroyed that house is
rare, but the reality is most sink holes cause cracks in walls and
founda ons. Pasco and Hernando coun es account for most of
the sink hole ac vity in Florida.

Mike Manley and Rodger Benne don’t look like financial
clairvoyants. But their knack for sensing economic disaster
— and naviga ng around it — has turned out to be uncanny.
The pair started RAB Founda on Repair LLC, a sinkhole
repair company headquartered in Odessa, just when the
housing crisis began to decimate the construc on sector.
Despite the unfortunate economic condi ons and new
insurance legisla on threatening to sink their business, RAB
has found a way to rise above it. Seeing the first signs of the
decline of the housing market, Manley, president of RAB,
knew he was in trouble. He was then the owner of a
mortgage brokerage. “I started to sense something was
coming,” he says, “and then the calls stopped coming in.”

Benne , RAB’s vice president, worked on

RAB Foundation Repair is repairing and rehabilitating a seawall located at a rest area of Sunshine
Skyway Bridge. The FDOT Contract was awarded to Estep Construction Inc., Apopka, FL and RAB
was hired as their sub-contractor. RAB Foundation Repair will help stop the undermining of the
seawall on the north side leading to the Sunshine Skyway bridge by applying compaction grouting
on the inside edge to seal the seawall joints.
With over 40,000 people (cars and pedestrians) utilizing the bridge daily this high profile project
must be executed with the highest sensitivity and best crews available. In addition to being a
popular tourist attraction the Sunshine Skyway Bridge carries not only interstate I-275 and US 19 it
connects St. Petersburg in Pinellas County and Terra Ceia in Manatee County, Florida, passing
through Hillsborough County waters but it multiplexes US Highway 19.

recently opened and operate with very little or no experience. Be very cautious of this.
Are you licensed in the State of Florida and insured?

Yes. You can occupy the property during the repair process with no interruption. Our team is extremely professional and will respect your privacy.

RAB will fix or replace any item broken by our team. Most items are covered by your insurance company in the cosmetic phase of your claim. We are

Can I choose my own cosmetic contractor after the sinkhole repair is complete?

Yes. You need to deliver a copy of your engineer’s report to the Property Appraisers Office as soon as possible. This will help lower your property
taxes by proving sinkhole activity at your property.
Does the insurance company offer a warranty?
The State of Florida requires that your insurance company provide a specific time frame for statute of limitations. Contact your insurance company

Compaction grouting is the most
common remediation method for
sinkhole repair today.
Underpinning is a means of
transfering foundation loads to
deeper, dense soils or bedrock and
limestone
Chemical Grout is injected as liquid
polyurethane solution under much
less pressure than compaction
grouting.
When a properly designed grout is
injected into loose soils, grout bulbs
are formed that displace, densify
and “compact” the surrounding soil.
As with other remediation efforts,
the geotechnical engineer will issue
a comprehensive report and plan of
action to fix the problem.
Basically it is the process of
modifying an existing foundation
system by extending it to or into
subsurface strata that is deeper
and more stable than the near
surface soil that supports the
existing foundation system.
The report will estimate the depth
and quantities of aggregate grout
and quide the contractor in pumping

CHEMICAL GROUT
CHEMICAL GROUT is used to repair shallow sinkholes and voids most
commonly within 15 feet of the surface. Chemical grout is a polyurethane
foam liquid that is injected at low pressure.
Chemical grout expands slowly and hardens quickly thus allowing the cracks
and voids under the surface to fill in and stabilize the founda on.
Chemical Grou ng is o en used in situa ons where high pressure
compac on grou ng would be too risky for nearby structures. Frequently
Chemical grout is recommended for use around pools, sidewalks and drive
ways.
