In August, we don't conduct a formal meeting; instead we host a "fun" meeting that is
open to members and non-members. This year, we've chosen to create art projects at the
Purple Glaze Studio in Brookside (3303 S Peoria Ave, Tulsa). We're getting a discounted
studio fee of $3 per person; the only other cost will be the cost of the project that you
choose. Projects range from about $5 to $80 (there are some larger items that are
$100+), with the average being $8-$12 each
After completing our projects, we'll head downtown to El Guapo's Cantina (332 E 1st St,
Tulsa) for dinner. If you've never been there, the view from the upstairs patio is
spectacular! For our community service project, we have adopted McKinley Elementary School (6703 E King St, Tulsa) and we'll collect assorted school supplies for donation to the Kindergarten program. Donate as many items as you'd like and
help some needy Tulsa children. A formal list of suggested supplies will be provided
closer to the event, and you may donate even if you can't participate in the other activities.
You won’t want to miss the chance to have a great time and help some needy children in
the process. Space is limited, so RSVP to Marie Ellenburg ([email protected]) as
soon as possible so that our reservation can be finalized.

To raise awareness of IAIP and generate interest in the organization at all levels, IAIP recently rolled out a
brand new membership recruitment campaign called Go All In. It features newly designed marketing materials
and a membership recruitment toolkit (see www.internationalinsuranceprofessionals.org) designed to highlight the career-enhancing benefits offered by IAIP and encourage current members to invite friends and colleagues to join. As an incentive, IAIP will award either a complimentary one-year international membership for
the next renewal period or a complimentary registration to the 2016 National Convention to the individual who
recruits the greatest number of new members from March 15 to December 31, 2015. Associations can also
win in two categories…those with 20 or more members and those with less than 20 members. The association
in each category who recruits the most total new members from March 15 to December 31, 2015 will win an
educational course of the association’s choice from CLP, Career Development, or I CAN! A Step Above. IAIP will
cover travel costs and one night’s lodging for an approved certified instructor to present the session and will
provide downloadable course materials for all attendees at no cost. Additional details are available online at
the IAIP website.
As current members, you are the backbone of our association. Since you already know the benefits of membership, you are our voice in sharing the Go All In message with potential new members. Make sure your voice
is heard!

July 2015 marked the beginning of a new year for IPT, and I am looking forward to working with each
and every one of you this year. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any

We wrapped up our annual Golf Tournament earlier this month, and I want to thank everyone who
helped to make this fundraiser a success. Kudos to our Golf Tournament Co-Chairs, Jordan Johns, Becky
Johns, and Trish Nipper, on a job well done!
We are in the process of finalizing our 2015/2016 Calendar of Events, and an updated document will be
available shortly. Our Oklahoma Meeting is tentatively scheduled for October 2015, and I encourage everyone to attend if possible as it is a great opportunity to meet members from other Oklahoma associations, to network, to attend educational classes, and to have lots of fun!
As in past years, we won’t have a formal dinner meeting in August. Instead, we will host a “fun” meeting

This year, we are excited to announce a change to our newsletter. In the past, we released it early in the
month as a way to notify members of upcoming meetings, events, and activities. Since we now have a
website and various social media accounts, we plan to use the newsletter to recap the month’s activities.
It will be released later in the month, and you will see more content as well as photos whenever possible.
A new committee, Publications/Social Media Marketing, will be in charge of creating the newsletter,
posting information on our social media sites, and taking photos and video of our meetings and events.
The board is very excited about this proposed change and hope that everyone will like the new format.
Finally, we still need Chairpersons for the following committees:

Audit
Nominating
If you would like to volunteer for one of these positions, please let me know.
Any of these opportunities would be a great way for new members to become
involved and learn more about our association. Don’t be afraid to take on a
new role…you will have lots of help!

July’s Program
In July, we welcomed Mark Woodward, Public Information/
Education Officer for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics as
our guest speaker. Since joining the Oklahoma Bureau of
Narcotics in 1995, Mark has been in more than fifty meth labs
and performed more than five hundred meth lab safety
schools. In addition, he has presented four thousand drug
identification classes to both law enforcement and the general public. In 2004, Mark was named as the Regional Narcotics Officer of the Year.
Mark’s presentation focused on the methamphetamine problem in Oklahoma; he also touched on prescription drug
abuse, how to safeguard home medication and how to dispose of it when needed, as well as the impact of the marijuana legalization movement on our state.
