Cedar Post Caps
Terratec post caps are great for hiding any irregular or out of
square post ends. Our post caps also help to prevent moisture
from rotting the tops of your posts and provide the perfect
finishing design touch. To install, simply apply exterior caulk to
the inside of the cap before placing on post or use galvanized
finish nails. As with any outdoor wood product, we recommend
coating with a good quality exterior wood finish (use as directed).
Solar Post Caps
Terratec solar post caps lights utilize LED (light emitting
diode) technology to provide light. LED bulbs are a highly
efficient source of light compared to other types of bulbs and
they rarely need to be replaced. On average, an LED will last
approximately 100,000 hours or more.
Choosing the right location
1. Install in a location that gets a full day of direct sunlight. Do
not install in a shady area.
2. The fixture should receive a minimum of 8 hours of sunlight
per day for optimal performance at night.
3. Be sure the location is not near nighttime light sources such
as streetlights or porch lights. If bright enough, these light
sources may cause the photocell to turn the fixture off.
4. Solar post caps work independently of each other. No wiring
necessary. They may be installed as far apart as needed.
Assembly and installation
1. Remove post cap and screws from the box.
2. You’ll find a thin protective film over the solar panel on the
top of the post cap. Gently peel off this protective film.
3. Each fixture has a PULL-TAB that must be removed to
activate the battery. It can be found inside the fixture on the
bottom of the cap hanging out of the battery compartment.
Before installing your post cap, remove the top portion of
the post cap (the section with the solar panel) by holding the
bottom and rotating the top counter- clockwise. Then pull the
tab out completely. This will activate the battery.
4. Reattach the top of the post cap to the bottom.
5. Place the post cap on top of your 4x4 post and secure with
the screws included in the box.
