Richy Didge serve up a Valentine`s Day delight
Students and retiring staff celebrated Rye Park School held their Presentation Evening late last year- the hall was full to overflowing, the children were excited and keen to perform their items and the teachers were a little stressed! This night was very special for a number of reasons and at times a little sad as well. During the night we said goodbye and good luck to a number of different people and of course to our graduating Year Six students- Claire Southwell, Hannah Trotter, Katie Bonfield and Jordan Henderson. This also meant saying goodbye to Michelle and Andrew Southwell and Ruth and Tim Bonfield - both these families will be greatly missed but we hope they remember the P&C loves to have community members as well. After nearly 26 years Sylvia Pearsall retired as our school cleaner and after 29 years our school admin manager Lillian Southwell has also decided to take a rest. Miss Dashwood (now Mrs Sharp) left us after five years to accept her new position at Queanbeyan PS. There was also time to thank the many people for the support that they have shown to our wonderful little school (in no particular order) - Rye Park P&C, Scripture teachers, Bendigo Bank, Yass Rotary Club, Boorowa Teachers Association & Boorowa Council. AWARDS: Citizenship awarded to Adam Pearsall and Josh Flick, Improvement Awards went to Jordan Henderson and Kaleb Watson, Karen Philpott’s Creative Arts Memorial trophy was presented to Ilka Halgryn and Nimue Ford, Fahey Family trophy for Consistency went to Claire Southwell, Armour Family Sportsmanship was awarded to Hannah Trotter and Writing Encouragement went to Ryan Barton and Hannah Southwell. After the awards it was time to announce our new Prime Minister for 2014 which went to Ryan Barton and his trusty Deputy PM is Adam Pearsall. The night finished with two performances- the lower division children performed a play based on the story book Wombat Devine with some amazing costumes designed and made by Vicki Wright. The upper division class had the audience really laughing when they performed their play- Snow White and the Seven Used Car Salesmen. It must be said that all staff were very proud of all the students, who as usual were amazing on the night! -Rye Park Public School Miss Dashwood with the leaving Year six students Jordan Henderson, Claire Southwell, Katie Bonfield and Hannah Trotter.
