Bring your experience and skill to the Farmer To Farmer Program
Foods Resource Bank is one of 5 organizations partnering with Catholic Relief
Services in their new Farmer to Farmer Program (F2F) through a grant from USAID.
Please consider volunteering your time and expertise with F2F and smallholder
farmers around the world.
CRS' Farmer to Farmer Program will promote sustainable economic growth, food
security and agricultural development in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania by
sending U.S. volunteers with agricultural expertise to share thier skills and help
build capacity for African farmers through short-term training and technical assistance projects.
As a new implementer of the 28-year-old Farmer to Farmer Program, CRS will send US volunteers to 500
project assignments over the 5-year life of the grant. The goal is to increase the productivity and marketing of
key priority value chains, including livestock, grains (rice, corn, wheat), beans and produce. The program will
benefit at least 350 host organizations, and train over 19,000 people, more than half of whom will be women.
For more information and to submit your application please visit the CRS Farmer to Farmer website
(farmertofarmer.crs.org) or call (708) 505-4034 for more information.
How can I use the John Deere Foundation Grant?
Since 2005, Foods Resource Bank has been receiving a grant from the John Deere
Foundation (JDF). This grant provides support to three of FRB’s focus areas: growing
project development, program-to-program learning, and leadership development
for young people.
Growing Project Development: The grant can be used to start a new, expand an existing growing project or to
match a donation from a John Deere dealership.
Program-to-Program Learning: The grant provides for program to program visits between local program
staff and participants. These visits allow program leaders to travel and learn about new approaches and
technologies, which increase their programs’ ability to learn, develop and grow.
Leadership Development: The grant has allowed FRB to engage more young people on a deeper level than
was previously possible. The matching grant covers half the cost for young people traveling with FRB and has
become a platform for engagement of people who might otherwise be prohibited by cost.
If your growing project could benefit from a JDF grant to get started or expand, please call (888)276-4372
or e-mail [email protected] for a copy of the application.
