Dear Tae Kwon Do Grand Masters, Masters, Instructors, and Friends: It is our pleasure to invite you and your students to the which will be held on Sunday, October 26th at Abby Kelly Foster Charter High School Gym, 6 New Bond St., Worcester, MA. This tournament is our way of bringing young tae kwon do students together in a friendly environment where they can challenge themselves and enjoy the sport aspect of Tae Kwon Do. This year our championship will focus on Forms and Breaking for children ages 13 and under. Medals will be awarded to First, Second, and Third place winners. All other competitors will receive participation medals. Trophies will be awarded in the Black Belt Divisions for Grand Champion Forms and Grand Champion Breaking and a Special Trophy for the school that brings the most competitors. We know how important it is to instructors and parents that these types of events run smoothly. Although this is our first event we hope to be able to exceed your expectations. Our goal is to make this an annual competition here in Worcester and in the future open it up to students of all ages. Enclosed you will find the championship entry forms and important information regarding registration and rules for this event. Please be early to be sure that you are ready when your division is called. Medals will be awarded for the First, Second, and third place winners in each Division. Heart of Massachusetts Tae Kwon Do Championship 2014 Individual Divisions Girls & Boys Poomsae & Breaking Divisions Ages 5 & under White/Yellow Green/Blue Red Black Ages 6 – 7 White/Yellow Green/Blue Red Black Ages 8 – 9 White/Yellow Green/Blue Red Black Ages 10 – 11 White/Yellow Green/Blue Red Black Ages 12 – 13 White/Yellow Green/Blue Red Black Poomsae (Forms) Any Tae Kwon Do form (WTF & ITF) All Competitors must perform a Poomsae in accordance to their level of rank. Scoring Scoring will be based on concentration, Power, balance, focus, stance, and correct orderly execution of movements. Three judges will score. In the event of a tie, the highest score will be dropped and two remaining scores will be added to determine a winner. If there is still tie competitors will perform the poomsae again and winner will be chosen by a show of hands from the judges. Grand Champion The Black Belt winners in each age group will compete against each other for the Grand Poomsae (Forms) Championship Poomsae Trophy. Five judges will score. All other scoring methods will be the same as above. Kyukpa (Breaking) (Wood Only) Breaking Boards will be sold at the tournament to ensure equality in performance. Free Style breaking, No More Than Three Stations. Each competitor will be given (1) minute to set up and complete his or her routine. Scoring Scores will be based on level of difficulty of techniques, power, accuracy, creativity, and ability to complete all breaks. Three judges will score. In event of a tie, the highest score will be dropped and two remaining scores will be added to determine a winner. Grand Champion The Black Belt winners in each age group will perform their winning breaking routine Kyukpa (Breaking) against each other for the Grand Championship Breaking Trophy.
