FONDATION DE LA PLACE DES ARTS FUTURE STARS’ GRAND PREMIERE Tuesday, June 7, 2016 Partnership Plan Presenting Partner: 2015 Edition FONDATION DE LA PLACE DES ARTS FUTURE STARS’ GRAND PREMIERE Be a partner of the FUTURE STARS’ GRAND PREMIERE on June 7, 2016 The Fondation de la Place des Arts created this event in 2011 to raise the funds required to fulfill its mission and thereby promote public access to and awareness of the various performing arts—particularly among young audiences. The Fondation’s philanthropic efforts are founded on the conviction that art enriches young people’s outlook on life. Today’s youth are the future key members of tomorrow’s society. By exploring worlds based on creativity, imagination, sensitivity and aesthetics, they open themselves up to new languages that lead to new ways of addressing their own world and developing their own personality. To love art and make it part of your life, you must first be made aware of it. We are not innately predisposed to choose art. This is why, for the Fondation, access to the arts remains a high priority issue. And this is also why it has chosen to commit itself to supporting Place des Arts—the largest performing arts complexes in Canada and a leading symbol of Quebec’s artistic excellence and vitality—in its challenge to make the arts more accessible. Our objective is an ambitious one, but it is essential to the pursuit of our mission. Your generous support of this event will allow the Fondation to ensure the sustainability of access-to-the-arts programs and projects supporting arts creation that Place des Arts offers each year. Please take a look at the various ways you can be part of this unique event. An unforgettable evening is in store for you and your guests, in Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. We are counting on you being there! Its goal is to support the mission of Place des Arts by contributing to artistic projects and activities that promote access to the arts, audience development and increased awareness of the various performing arts. Ballet Divertimento – 2015 Edition THE SOCIÉTÉ DE LA PLACE DES ARTS plays a vital role on the Quebec and Montreal scene. Not only is it at the forefront of the development of local performing arts and of Quebec’s openness to the international artistic world, it is also one of the key players. As the largest performing arts complex in Canada and a public organization serving all Quebeckers, the Société de la Place des Arts is dedicated to presenting and increasing access to the performing arts. Programs for families and children THE ACCESS-TO-THE-PERFORMING-ARTS PROGRAM was created in 2002. It allows Place des Arts to offer various activities that promote audience awareness and development, and support artists endeavouring to create or present original works. Programs for teens The Fondation de la Place des Arts contributes to four components of Place des Arts’ Access to the Performing Arts Program: Free activities – Espace Culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme The Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme is a unique cultural space comprising a public area, a gallery and a mosaic of screens. Open to all, it welcomes more than 250 artists annually, who are involved in 160 free activities that engage and raise the awareness of tens of thousands of people every year, through performances, readings, exhibitions and digital works. Children’s programs, whether free of charge or affordably priced, reach a wide audience of more than 5,000 children through Place des Arts Junior, a multidisciplinary series for children and their families. The shows reflect the diversity of disciplines in the performing arts, from music to circus, theatre and dance, and are often accompanied by participatory awareness-raising activities. Every year, Place des Arts develops a cultural mediation project aimed specifically at teens. For the past two years, this activity has been preceded by a school visit, supported by a teaching guide. More than 1,000 students from lowincome neighbourhoods then attend a show at Théâtre Maisonneuve and take part in a discussion with the guest artist. This year’s program also includes an exhibition in the Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme, featuring photos of the artist, some taken with students during visits to the schools. Co-productions and artist residencies Place des Arts directly supports creative works through co-productions and residencies, which are closely linked. In so doing, it also supports research, experimentation and artistic creation—objectives that are shared by the Fondation de la Place des Arts. These projects, spearheaded by talented young artists, also serve to raise awareness among various clienteles, including those aged 18 to 30. Since it was established in 2006, the Fondation has contributed over $2,000,000 to various Place des Arts programs that support access to the arts and artistic creation. Miron Quartet: Denis Bernier-Martin (violin), Mathias Larivière (violin), Christophe Marois (viola) and Vincent Bergeron (cello) – 2015 Edition 3 2016 Edition of the FUTURE STARS’ GRAND PREMIERE The annual benefit event, the FUTURE STARS’ GRAND PREMIERE, was created by the Fondation to ensure the sustainability of the Société de la Place des Arts’ programs supporting access to the art and artistic creation. Since it was established, the event has allowed the Fondation to raise close to $1,400,000. The event brings together business people, philanthropists and arts lovers of all backgrounds. It gives talented young artists a chance to perform on a prestigious stage and also allows disadvantaged youths to attend the show at Place des Arts.
