43rd ANNUAL ELKS RALLY
GOLDEN VILLAGE PALMS RV RESORT
HEMET, CA
OCTOBER 6-9, 2011
SOB Camping Club was well represented at the
Rally with 16 members including: Boatman/
Caswell, Callaway, Carr, Doke/Miller, Ernest,
Francis/Wilson, Greer, Hewitt, Johnson, Langley, Lent, McCrea, Schmoker, Seeley and
Wahner. Also attending were Lodge members;
Tom Brown, Bob Scopel, Steve & Diane
Dailey and Mike & Mary Glass. Marie Colacchio came for the day on Saturday.
What a difference just two weeks made in the
weather. There was some rain for those who
had to come early to set up, but by Thursday
when the event got started it was perfect. The
nights were chilly though—no midnight poker this
year. We had our usual empty site to set up our
canopies and tables for gathering.
The total attendance was down to 123 rigs this
year, but over $20,000 was raised for the Major
Project. Our contribution was $1134.
Next
year’s dates are October 11-14, 2012.
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF TRIAL BOSSES
ART & DONNA CARR
Art was born in Burbank, CA, one of four children,
he grew up in Pasadena. He has been in the automotive field since his teen years, as he always had
a curious mind taking things apart and putting them
back together. He semi-retired 13 years ago, but
went back into business in January 2001, opening
another transmission company in Huntington Beach.
He has three daughters, 6 grandchildren and 2
great-grandchildren.
Donna was born in Flint, MI, one of six children, and
moved to California when she was 2. She grew up
in Culver City, and moved to Huntington Beach
when she married her first husband. Donna has 2
daughters and 4 grandchildren.
Art and Donna met on a blind date in 1990 and
have been together ever since, marrying in 1999.

the clubhouse again.
Temecula’s popular wagons
are always a hit. The
blackjack table was sorely
missed. As was the Screw
Your Neighbor game.
Our lodge raised $354 from the
Wheel of Fortune.
We sold Jack Milks’ tri-tip sandwiches to raise another $509
We also ran the 50/50 on Thursday and made $271 for the kids

WEEKEND WINNERS!!
Jesse Boatman and Bobbie Caswell were the big winners of the
weekend. Not only did they win a door prize of a camp chair and
some flashlights, but they won the grand prize Big Bear Vacation.
Craig and Diane Johnson won some Glad storage containers
and kitchen towel and potholder.
Carl and LaVonne Lent won some Corelle dishes.
Mike and Kathie Seeley won a prize too, but managed to
allude the cameraman.
