DOUBLE ROMAN Clean, classic and traditional Firmly rooted in ancient Roman architectural and engineering prowess, this classic tile has the innate ability to withstand remarkable pressures. With its accentuated arch, the innovative Double Roman tile combines the traditional with the contemporary. Moreland Green Green PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Coverland concrete roof tiles adhere to SANS Tiling Standards and are produced by a high pressure extrusion and compression process which impart the following properties: • Strength • Impact Strength • Dimensional Tolerance • Insulation • Frost Resistant • UV Resistant • Maintenance-free • Durability • Thermal Properties • Fire Resistant • Water Impermeability In terms of overall strength, Coverland concrete roof tiles comply with the strength requirements and dimensional tolerances of SANS 542/1990 and can withstand the impact of a 45mm hailstone. These tiles also have excellent insulating and thermal properties and are unaffected by frost and ultraviolet radiation. They provide superior summer-winter insulation properties and are also highly effective sound insulators. Coverland tiles undergo stringent testing and are certified impermeable and non-combustible (BS 476 Part 4: 1984). When laid according to the BRAAS MONIER Roofing and SANS Tiling Standards, Coverland concrete tiles will provide a weatherfast and maintenance-free roof for many years. NO CRACKS NO LEAKS NO MAINTENANCE Dry Ridge System – dry and ventilating ridge and hip solution Fix the ridges and hip-lines with this method for optimum circulation from the eaves to the ridge. The easy installation replaces traditional mortar applications and allows for the thermal expansion and contraction of the roof structure. Ridge Tile Ridge Roll Ridge Runner Roof Tile Batten Ridge Tree Installed with Coverland Ridge Tree with timber runner Sketch of laying, in this case with a profiled roof tile at the ridge Easy roll and clip installation on ridge and hip-lines for optimum air circulation Compact Roll Ridge Tree Ridge Clips Kro Clips Dry – Fix roof ridging roll that allows the hot air to escape through the ridge & hip-line. Ridge & hip fixing device which allows optimal alignment of the ridge & hip battens. Facilitates the efficient and rapid fixing of ridge tiles. Cut tiles are fixed durably to the hip structure without drilling. FIXING GUIDE CATEGORY A – UNEXPOSED AREAS All inland regions other than certain specified areas. Mechanically fix two courses of tiles at the eaves, ridge and verges for the full overhang, whichever is greater. Cut tiles at hips, valleys and abutments to be secured with Kro Clips or Coverfill. It is recommended that closed soffits be fitted on all verge and eave overhangs. The exposure category of the required roof may be assessed using the following table: Height to Ridge not exceeding M Regional Basic Design Wind Speed ms-I Exposure Category 5 40 and below 41 to 49 inclusive 50 and above A B C 10 43 and below 44 to 49 inclusive 50 and above A B C 15 42 and below 43 to 47 inclusive 48 and above A B C ROOF PITCHES 17° to < 26° undertile membrane mandatory 26° to < 45° undertile membrane recommended 45° to < 55° undertile membrane recommended, each tile to be nailed 55° to vertical undertile membrane mandatory, each tile to be nailed and clipped CATEGORY B – SEMI-EXPOSED AREAS CATEGORY A Monier Coverland reserves the right to change the contents of this document without any prior notice. February 2016. Coastal regions and certain inland areas. Mechanically fix a band of tiles (x) equal to a fifth of the number of courses on the rafter lengths at the eaves and ridges, and also at chimneys and abutments. Mechanically fix a band of tiles equal to (x) along (y), as calculated above, at each verge (or the full overhang, whichever is the greater.) Tiles at hips, valleys and abutments to be secured with Kro Clips to every third tile on the roof. Closed soffits must be fitted to all verge and eave overhangs. ROOF PITCHES CATEGORY B 17° to < 26° undertile membrane mandatory 26° to < 45° undertile membrane recommended (mandatory at the coast) 45° to vertical undertile membrane mandatory, each tile to be nailed and clipped CATEGORY C – EXPOSED AREAS Critical coastal areas and certain inland areas. ROOF PITCHES 17° to < 26° undertile membrane mandatory, each tile to be clipped 26° to < 45° undertile membrane mandatory, each tile to be nailed or clipped 45° to vertical undertile membrane mandatory, each tile to be nailed and clipped CATEGORY C Closed soffits to be fitted at all verge and eave overhangs.
