Wacker Neuson Group`s formulas for success
Image brochure 2015 Wacker Neuson Group’s formulas for success At a glance Wacker Neuson can trace its roots back to 1848, when Johann Christian Wacker founded a blacksmith’s shop in the city of Dresden. In 1930, we registered our first patent for an electric rammer designed to compact soil. Today, the Wacker Neuson Group has over 400 patents and utility models. Weidemann GmbH joined the Group in 2005, adding compact equipment for the agricultural industry to our portfolio. Following this, the Group became a German stock corporation (Aktiengesellschaft). Since May 2007, the company is listed on the stock exchange. In the same year, Wacker Construction Equipment AG merged with the Austrian company Neuson Kramer Baumaschinen AG, which was itself the result of a 2001 merger between Neuson Baumaschinen GmbH and Kramer-Werke GmbH. Sixty-seven percent of our SDAX-listed shares are owned by the Wacker and Neunteufel families. Hans Neunteufel is Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Cem Peksaglam is Chairman of the Executive Board. We are a leading manufacturer of light and compact equipment across the globe. Welcome to Wacker Neuson. Best regards, Cem Peksaglam 2 Eight-ton Wacker Neuson excavator. 3 Core market: agriculture Strong Group brands Rising global demand for food, fodder, biofuels and other renewable raw materials are increasing the degree of specialization among agricultural holdings. Farmyard work must be completed as efficiently as possible on holdings of all sizes. This efficiency trend is fueling demand for machinery and specifically for WEIDEMANN- and KRAMER-brand equipment. The Weidemann portfolio includes articulated and compact Hoftracs®, wheel loaders, telescopic handlers, all-wheel drive telescopic handlers and an extensive range of attachments. In central Europe, Weidemann is one of the leading manufacturers of equipment for agriculture. www.weidemann.de Our all-wheel drive wheel loaders, tele wheel loaders and telescopic handlers are developed specifically to meet the needs of users. Kramer equipment is in everyday use on many agricultural holdings. Wheel loaders and tele wheel loaders are used for a variety of tasks, including harvesting, storage, livestock feeding and much more. The standard hydraulic quick-hitch system makes these loaders an extremely flexible option. www.kramer.de Versatile deployment spectrum Property development Infrastructure (road and bridge construction) Stable management Renovation/redevelopment Light equipment weighing up to 3 tons and compact equipment weighing up to 14 tons: Our diverse portfolio and customer base enable us to maximize synergies across industries and product segments. Livestock management Cargo handling and port logistics Gardening and landscaping Demolition Maintenance/repairs Industry, e.g. recycling Residential construction Oil and gas (energy sector) Events Municipal services Selling everything from electric breakers to 14-ton excavators, more and more dealers around the world are signing exclusive distribution agreements for our products. The dynamic nature Today, our commitment to quality, expertise and flexibility is more important than of our business ever and will enable us to open up new demands stability opportunities for our sales affiliates and absorb fluctuations in different industries. These success factors give us a stable foundation for future growth. Wacker Neuson offers an exceptionally broad product portfolio of light and compact equipment, backed by a global service network. In recent years, we have achieved growth in all business segments. We capitalized even further on synergies, successfully harnessing our existing light equipment sales network to distribute our compact offering in Central Europe and beyond. The construction industry is subject to various cycles, which in turn are dependent on factors such as public spending. Stability hinges on diversification and the ability to spread risks across industries beyond construction. Today, a significant share of our revenue stems from industries other than construction – such as landscaping, gardening and agriculture. In a highly volatile landscape, our targeted diversification strategy and use of synergies across business segments have a stabilizing effect on the Wacker Neuson Group and – even more importantly – open up global growth opportunities. Our product philosophy: PROCESS KNOW-HOW By combining concrete, compaction and worksite products with compact equipment and end-to-end services, the Wacker Neuson Group supports and optimizes its customers’ daily work. The Group is market leader in many product areas. Example: The “one-man hole” – utility work in confined spaces* 1 The construction team starts work. First of all, a floor saw is used to make incisions in the asphalt or concrete surface. 2 The hard surface can then be broken up piece by piece using a breaker. 3 A powerful compact excavator breaks down the chunks of asphalt and stone further and removes them from the site. 9 The wheel loader ensures that the trench is evenly filled. 8 Rammers are also the perfect tool for densely compacting the subsequent layers of backfill material. 10 The sandy surface is thoroughly compacted and smoothed with a vibratory plate to prevent the earth from subsequently subsiding. 11 A skid steer loader transports hot asphalt to the site and distributes it evenly over the dense, sandy surface. * “One-man holes” may be the smallest sites in underground construction, but they are dug thousands of times each year. With an average size of around 1x2 meters, these trenches provide just enough space for one person to work below ground level on utility connections such as electricity and telephone lines or gas and water pipes. UP T 15 GR O OU PROD UCTS P ON A SI CONS NGLE TRUC T SITE ION 4 Now the real excavation work gets underway. A dumper removes the excavation material from the site. 5 A supply pipe has been damaged. The construction site is drained using an electric pump, driven by a generator if a power connection is not available. 7 Vibratory rammers are ideal for compacting material around the lower section of the repaired pipe, ensuring it is firmly positioned. 6 A telescopic handler lifts the damaged pipe from the trench, allowing it to be repaired. 12 The asphalt/vibratory plate is then deployed to compact and create a smooth surface. 13 As night falls, a powerful light tower allows construction work to continue. 14 A wheel loader equipped with a flexible broom attachment then clears the finished asphalt, leaving behind a clean surface. To fuel steady growth, we have identified further potential for synergies in our sales organization. Here our focus lies on increasing our presence in core markets, using our international sales channels more intensively for the compact equipment business and proactively leveraging cross-selling opportunities across our product segments. We tailor our products to the needs of various industries in order to diversify risks more effectively and absorb economic fluctuations in specific industries. We are ideally positioned to achieve these goals. Our Vision We have set ourselves ambitious goals for the coming years. We will focus above all on sustainable growth rather than short-term profit. Demand for light and compact equipment is rising, fueled primarily by global trends such as the world’s growing population, increased demand for food, and global infrastructure and urbanization projects. These developments offer enormous potential for us to expand our business in industrialized and emerging economies alike. With our “GIPI” vision, we will continue to focus on the four pillars of Growth, Internationalization, Professionalization and Integration in the future. 1. Growth 2. Customers experience these values directly through our products and services, in their dealings with us and through our corporate identity. Our corporate philosophy is built on our performance and character – in other words the very essence of our employees and organization as a whole. 1930: Wacker introduces the world’s first electric rammer. 1933: Kramer is the first company to switch to diesel motors in its tractors. 1984: Neuson launches the first hydraulic mini excavator. In all of our future undertakings, we will maintain our streamlined structures and efficient processes. These include direct customer contact, flat hierarchical structures and low administrative overhead. The real secret of our success, however, is our employees. Their commitment and ideas drive our growth. And they will enable us to make the most of our strengths in the future. And so part of our strategy includes expanding our global footprint. To do this, we have to offer products tailored to specific market requirements. In China, we significantly expanded our Value Line portfolio in recent years. These products appeal specifically to price-sensitive customers. Innovative drive is the hallmark of our products. Over 365 registered patents and utility models as well as numerous acclaimed international prizes for innovation underscore our strong position here. Wacker Neuson Value Line products in action in China. Over the coming years, the Wacker Neuson Group’s strategy will focus on establishing and expanding sales and service structures in Europe and North America, as well as in emerging geographies such as South America and Asia. This growth strategy is based on a strong foundation comprising our healthy financial position, innovative leadership and strong market position with a high level of brand awareness in our core markets. Strong company ethics as efficient basis for sustainable growth Only legally and ethically correct behavior ensures sustainable business success. The key to this sustainability lies in our corporate culture, which is characterized by our corporate values of innovation, quality, performance and character. The corporate value of character also includes the commitment to integrity and honesty as well as the commitment to consistent compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Both our employees as well as our business partners adhere to this standard.
