Covenant Corner - How We Can Create A Strong Community
A hive of bees is a perfect example of a
community working together in harmony
and for the common good of all its members.
After all, a bee living alone can barely
survive, let alone prosper. But in a hive made
up of hundreds of other bees, each taking
responsibility for the various jobs necessary
for the survival of the community, the lone
bee not only survives, it contributes mightily
to the success of the hive.
The secret of the bee’s success in living
together in a close-knit community is
that each bee not only understands the
interrelationships that exist between it and
the rest of the members of its community, but
is willing to accept some of the responsibility
for the hive’s prosperity by expanding their
role in the community whenever necessary.
As homeowners, we too can choose to
recognize the interrelationships that exist
between ourselves and our neighbors and
how those interrelationships have a direct
impact on our quality of life. We can also
choose to take some of the responsibility
upon ourselves to contribute to improving
those relationships and in the process
improve our community. In order for our
community association to continue to protect,
preserve and enhance our community assets
and our property values, each member of our
community has to acknowledge their role
in our community and, at times, be willing
to expand their role to take on some added
responsibility.
Although we don’t have to participate in
the election process, choosing to do so
contributes to the success of our community.
Our role as a rule abiding member expands
to include that of a voting member. We also
have the opportunity to attend our Advisory
Committee meetings in order to better
understand the business decisions made by
the Board. When we choose to attend those
meetings, our role as a rule abiding, voting
member now expands to include that of a
participating member.
For example: We all must obey our
governing documents, we agreed to do that
when we purchased our homes. By obeying
community rules and regulations, we
contribute to our community and accept the
role of a rule abiding member.
And when we choose to serve on community
committees or the Advisory Committee,
we accept another role and become a
rule abiding, voting, participating and
contributing member.
Each year we conduct an Annual Meeting
at which time we elect our Board of
Directors Homeowner Representatives and
Homeowner Advisory Committee Members.
So, let’s all work at recognizing what roles
we can choose to accept in our community
and, like the bee, work together at making
our community the best place to live that it
can be.

Preparing for Spring Break
Spring Break will be here before you know it. As you prepare to take off for some family
fun, please remember to prepare your home before you leave. Make sure you leave some
lights on in the home on timers. Another deterrent is to leave some music playing. Keep
your property well lit. Tell a trusted neighbor that you will be gone and make sure they have
your contact information. Set your alarm system and secure your cars. Place a vacation
hold on mail and newspapers and ask the neighbor to pull any door hangers and unexpected
flyers or papers.
For those planning on staying home to get some work done, remember when you are outdoors, to lock your doors and secure your garage. Thefts can occur when you are out of
sight.
Parents please watch your children while they play. Don’t assume that the neighbor down
the street is watching your child. Please do not block the roadway for children to play. This
is against the law. Any child under 18 must wear a protective helmet when riding a bike.
The Fort Worth Curfew is in effect 365 days a year. Any child under 17 years must be off
the streets after 11pm. Sunday – Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
If you have visitors over Spring Break, please remind them to take all the valuables out of
their vehicles and “Lock” their car doors. Please “Don’t Reveal to Those Who Steal”.
If you would like to learn more about the FWPD Citizen’s on Patrol program, please contact
Brenda Fitts the North Division Coordinator at [email protected].

Raspberry-White Chocolate Cheesecake Bars
Ingredients
1 9-oz. box chocolate wafer cookies
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 cup frozen raspberries, thawed
1/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
2 8-oz. packages cream cheese, room temperature
2 large eggs plus 2 large yolks
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces white chocolate, melted and cooled
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a food processor, blend wafer cookies
until completely crushed. Transfer to a bowl, pour in melted butter
and mix until crumbs are evenly moistened. Pour crumbs into a 9-inch
square baking pan, and use your fingers to press into an even layer
over bottom and about 1/2 inch up sides of pan. Bake for 8 minutes,
until firm. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely. Reduce
oven temperature to 250ºF.
2. Combine raspberries and 1 Tbsp. sugar in a food processor and
blend until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl;
discard solids. Using an electric mixer at medium speed, beat cream
cheese and remaining 1/4 cup plus 1 Tbsp. sugar until smooth. Add
eggs and yolks one at a time, beating briefly after each addition. Add
flour and vanilla and mix just until combined. Fold in white chocolate.
3. Pour cheesecake mixture over cooled crust, spreading evenly.
Drop spoonfuls of raspberry puree on top and, using a toothpick,
drag raspberry puree through cheesecake to create a marbled effect,
taking care not to drag in crust. Bake until edges are pale golden and
cheesecake is just set in center, 1 hour and 15 to 20 minutes. Let
cool completely on a wire rack, then cover and refrigerate until fully
chilled, at least 2 hours. Cut and serve.

neighbors of things such as missing pets, items for sale and barter,
small groups and events, and so much more.

Homeowner’s Association
The purpose of a homeowners association (HOA) is to maintain, enhance and
protect the common areas and interests of the subdivision or neighborhood. Individual homeowners, as members of the association, pay periodic assessments
support & utilize neighborhood amenities (pond, pools, parks, tennis courts, etc.).
The assessments pay for community expenses such as entrance monuments, landscaping, amenities like clubhouses, tennis courts, or walking trails, insurance for
commonly-owned structures and areas, an on-site management company, or any
other item delineated in the governing documents or agreed to by the homeowners’ association.
Currently, the Advisory Committee, which is comprised of elected residents, is
the intermediate group between the residents and the Board of Directors and Centurion American (VOWS developer). This will continue until full development
of VOWS is completed. The sub-committees report to the Advisory Committee.
All residents are invited to attend Advisory Committee meetings which are normally held the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Amenity Center on
Timberland.

Apollo Dog
of the Month!
Phoenix was part of a animal
cruelty case. When the Shelter received the call Phoenix
was tied to a tree with no
access to food or water, it was
obvious he had been this way
for many weeks. He was no
longer strong enough to stand
and was carried to safety.
What was the excuse? They claimed he was aggressive. Phoenix is not aggressive at all. He plays with other dogs and children. We will never know
the truth and why he had to suffer like he did but we do know he will never
have to suffer again. Phoenix is very loving. He knows what we have done
for him and he appreciates it. Phoenix needs a family to call his own that will
love him no matter what. He is very smart and ready to please. He needs
someone to work with him and show him how to love, show him a normal life
a life he should of had in the first place. He needs a second chance!
If interested in meeting Phoenix, please email:
[email protected]
and ask for Phoenix!
