Youth Leader`s Packet - Horizon Community Church
Dear Youth Pastor/Leader,
I would like to invite you to Summer Camp 2016 at Twin Rocks Friends Camp
(twinrocks.org) in Rockaway Beach, Oregon, August 1-5. There are a lot of good
camps for you and your students this summer, but I believe this camp will be
unique.
It starts with the facilities. Twin Rocks Friends Camp in Rockaway Beach, Oregon
is one of the great camp facilities in the state. It’s located right on the beach as
well as having lakefront access. Your students will actually want to eat the food
served family style here. And they’ll have plenty to do between basketball,
volleyball, octo-ball, ping-pong, billiards, disc "Frisbee" golf, miniature golf,
swimming, canoeing, and blobbing and so much more!
In addition to the facilities, our featured speaker Donnie Moore
(DonnieMooreMinistries.org), will inspire and challenge your students to take the
next step in their faith. Donnie is the chaplain for the Oakland Athletics and has
spoken to many professional athletes including the Portland Trailblazers, New
York Yankees, the US Men’s National Soccer Team, and more. For over 25 years,
he has brought hope to over 5 million students in public schools, and has
reached over 30,000 students in his camps through the years.
Our services are the most important part of camp. You’ll enjoy the high-energy
music and worship where the presence of the Lord is experienced. We are
praying the Lord will break the chains in our student’s lives at the altars and
during our small group times following every service. This camp will be a lot of
fun, but without the presence of God, it’s just another activity and that’s not why
we’re doing this.
If you’re planning to bring a group please send a non-refundable $50 deposit for
each student as soon as possible. This will ensure your spot at camp, as we are
unable to reserve space without this deposit. Group deposits will be charged the
registration price of $349.
All final registration lists must be submitted by Friday, July 15. This will ensure we
have your correct camper information and will make for an easier registration
once at camp. This packet is also available online at horizoncommunity.church/
connect/summercamp2016/
Please review the information in this packet and contact us if you have any
questions or if we can help you in any way. We are honored to partner with you
and serve your students at camp this summer and are expecting God to do great
things in the lives of your students.

Dress Code/Safety
Please encourage your students to dress modestly at camp. Share our camp dress code with your
students as it may be different than what they’re used to, or what your group normally follows.
We realize that clothing, modesty, and styles are very subjective. Our goal is not to be legalistic or offend
anyone, but to thoughtfully apply Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 8.
Girls: Shirts should be “lasagna straps” and not “spaghetti straps.” Strapless, and midriff-reveals are not
acceptable. Tops should be cut appropriately and not tight fitting or low cut. Swimsuits must be onepiece. Students wearing two-pieces, or deemed inappropriate will be asked to wear a dark colored t-shirt
over the swimsuit.
Guys: Shorts/pants must be worn at hips without sagging or excessive bagginess. Shirts should not have
inappropriate/offensive language. Shirts must be worn except in swimming areas during designated
times. Oh, and no speedos, please.
Medications
All medications (with the possible exceptions of inhalers and insulin if they are self-managed by a
responsible student), must be given to a leader prior to departure. Medications should all be labeled with
the proper dosage and placed in a large ziplock or lunch bag with the student’s name on it. Medications
will be turned in to the camp doctor/nurse and will be administered to the student throughout camp. This
ensures students receive their medications and that they are not tampered with or accessed by others.
