A recent graduate of the prestigious Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Ms Cantin won magnificent critical acclaim last season at Lyric as Berta/Il barbiere di Siviglia, has appeared with the company in Elektra, Rigoletto, Parsifal, and most recently in the title role of Donizetti’s demanding Anna Bolena, in which she replaced ailing super-star soprano Sondra Radvanovsky. Her operatic repertoire includes Mimì/La Bohème, Donna Anna/Don Giovanni, Governess/Turn of the Screw, Amelia/Simon Boccanegra, Rosalinde/Die Fledermaus, Desdemona/Otello, Eva/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Rusalka/Rusalka, and Alice Ford/Falstaff. An avid concert performer, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 introduced her to Australian audiences, singing alongside Bryn Terfel, under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Ms Cantin has been heard as the soprano soloist in Bernstein’s Songfest, Handel’s Messiah, Schubert’s Mass in Ab, Mozart’s Requiem, has shared the stage with internationally renowned artists including Renée Fleming, Stephanie Blythe, Christine Goerke, Joyce DiDonato, Susan Graham, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Eric Owens, Johan Botha and Ana Maria Martìnez, and has recently made debuts with the Ravinia Festival, Grant Park Festival, Oregon Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Ms Cantin has had the privilege of working with some of today’s most respected conductors and directors, including numerous engagements with Sir Andrew Davis (Beethoven 9, La Bohème, Le Nozze di Figaro), as well as Riccardo Muti (La Traviata), Michele Mariotti (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Vlad Iftinca (Turn of the Screw), Bertrand de Billy (Otello), Sir David McVicar (Elektra, Rusalka), John Caird (Parsifal), and Elijah Moshinsky (Simon Boccanegra). Ms Cantin holds degrees from McGill University, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Alberta. Among Ms Cantin’s numerous awards are a 2014 Sullivan Foundation Award, a 2014 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Award, first place in Canada’s prestigious Lois Marshall Memorial Competition (2010), and is a 2016 Semi-Finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council.
