Welcome to the 2008 WICA National Convention Auction.
With 168 lots and over 100 body styles, this auction is certain
to have something for everyone. The variety and quality
promise something for every auction attendee. The Saturday
evening auction is the highlight of the weekend for many. It is
WICA’s major fundraiser with proceeds going to support
education. Many thanks to the following 25 WICA members
whose consignments and donations have made this auction
possible.

sales tax on auction purchases. Buyers who have a valid sales
tax license issued for an antiques business in the State of
Pennsylvania or their home state should have filed with WICA
a State of Pennsylvania Exemption Certificate prior to the
auction. Forms will be available at Auction Check-Out.
Terms of Sale. Condition of each item to be sold—the
description in this catalog—was provided by the consignors
and donors. While many photos were received from the
consignors and donors, some were taken from the WICA photo
archives based upon the information received from the
consignors and donors. WICA, Inc., and its auctioneer assume
no responsibility for accuracy; however, the information should
be a useful guide for bidding. A sold item bearing damage
which was not described in the catalog or which was not
marked at check-in with a blue dot may be returned if not
more than three additional lots have crossed the auction block.
Anything stated the day of the sale takes precedence over
anything written. Before bidding, please be sure that you
CAREFULLY look over any items in which you are interested.
Time of Payment. All purchases must be paid for in full
before leaving the premises on the day of the sale. Individuals
who have consigned merchandise to the sale may NOT deduct
purchases from proceeds from consigned lots.
Manner of Payment. All purchases must be paid to the
WICA cashier in cash, personal check, or traveler’s check.
Dispute Between Bidders. If any dispute arises between
two or more bidders, the auctioneer will decide how to handle
the resale of the item. The decision of the auctioneer will be
final and absolute.
Claims. No claims will be allowed after the goods are
removed from the premises.
Personal and Property Risk. Persons attending during
exhibition, removal or sale of goods, assume all risk of
damage of or loss to person and property and specifically
release the auctioneer and WICA from liability thereof.
Records of Sale kept by the auctioneer and WICA will be
taken as final in the event of a dispute.
Additional Terms and Conditions shall be announced
prior to the auction.
The UPS Store will be outside the Majestic Ballroom between
8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and between 8:30
a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, for those individuals
requiring a packing and shipping service. Packaging materials
will also be available for purchase.
A Look to the Future. With the passing of WICA’s 2008
National Convention Auction, it’s time to start preparing for the
2009 event. Any WICA member may consign or donate items
to next year’s auction. WICA’s 501(c)(3) public charity status
as an educational organization will permit donations to WICA,
on a deductible basis, to further WICA’s educational purposes.
So, pick up that extra piece or two of white ironstone as you
travel or look through your own collection for items to consign
or donate. There is no limit as to the number of items which
may be consigned.
Have a Great Year!

Auctioneeer Dennis Jackson will call WICA’s 2008
Auction. Dennis is a 30-year veteran of art and antiques
auctions and owner of Jackson’s Auction & Real Estate
Company of Anderson, Indiana.
Dennis comes highly
recommended from the Flow Blue International Collectors’ Club
for which he has been calling auctions for the past six years.
Auction Check-In will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Majestic
Ballroom. Consignors are to come to the auction check-in at
their pre-assigned time and should have the labels affixed to
the items. During check-in any damage not noted in the
auction catalog will be marked with a blue dot.
Auction Preview will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Majestic
Ballroom. A cash bar will be available during the preview.
Auction will begin at 7 p.m. in the Majestic Ballroom.
Bidder Numbers have been included in the registration
packets.
Consignment Fee Structure. WICA will retain 10% of the
selling price for all items selling for less than $500 and 5% of
the selling price for all items selling for $500 or more. Items
which do not have a reserve shall be sold to the highest bidder
at the auction. Consignors will be paid within four weeks from
the date of the auction.
Reserve Selling Price Option: Consignors paid a fee of
$10 for each item on which they have placed a reserve selling
price of $100 or more. These items are to be sold to the
highest bidder who submits a bid equal to or greater than the
reserve.
If the reserve selling price of the consigned item is not met and
the consignor has so agreed prior to the auction, the auctioneer
will announce the reserve selling price and offer the item at
that price, first to the high bidder and, if declined, to the entire
floor. The bidding will be reopened if two or more bidders,
but not the high bidder, offer to buy the item at the reserve
selling price.
If there is no interest in purchasing the item at the reserve
selling price and the consignor has so agreed prior to the
auction, the auctioneer will ask the consignor from the floor if
he/she is willing to accept the high bid if it is 80% or more of
the reserve selling price. The consignor may either accept or
reject the high bid.
