Jonathan Bennett and Josh Kahlon will be the front court
that anchors the defense and control the boards. Troy
Thompson, Jason Smith, Donnie Wilder, Mitchell Rubio,
and Jason Smith round out this year’s squad. Gabe Bealer,
a player on the 2013–14 team, hurt his knee in the preseason and will medical redshirt allowing him to play three
years for the University of Utah.
Prior to becoming head coach of the CCSF men’s basketball
program, Labagh assisted the Rams for three years under
coaches Harry Pantazopoulos and Patrick Springer.
In 2000–2001, he completed an internship under then
Texas Tech head coach, Bobby Knight. Labagh played
college basketball at the University of California, Berkeley,
where he was coached by Todd Bozeman and Ben Braun,
and made two NCAA tournament appearances, including
reaching the Sweet Sixteen in 1997. Former players Labagh
played with at Cal were: Shareef Abdur-Rahim of the Sacramento Kings, Sean Marks of the New Orleans Hornets,
Francesco Elson of the Denver Nuggets, Michael (Yogi)
Stewart of the Atlanta Hawks, Ed Gray of the Atlanta Hawks,
Tremaine Folks of the Indiana Pacers, Sean Lampley of the
Miami Heat and Tony Gonzalez of the Atlanta Falcons.
Justin Labagh just completed his eleventh season at the
helm of the City College of San Francisco Men’s Basketball
Program. In his tenure at CCSF, Labagh led the Rams to a
State Championship, State Runner-up, nine Coast Conference Championships, three Final Fours, two Final Eight’s
and three Sweet Sixteen’s. Labagh’s winning percentage
here at CCSF is a whopping .875 with an overall record of
309–44. The Rams have gone undefeated in conference
play for the last 4 years and have also finished the season
in the state coach’s poll as #1 four years in a row. Labagh
has been voted California JC Coach of the year four times
and the program has graduated 36 players to Division I
and 23 players to Division II and NAIA schools. Last year
CCSF sent off 8 players on full scholarships.
Labagh is excited about the 2014–15 season. The team will
be made up of eleven newcomers and one returner. Vincent Golsen is considered one of the best point guards in
the state and his leadership will be counted on as the Rams
start from scratch. Transfers Julian Harrell, Carlos Mancasola, and Blair Menday will give the rams a solid back court
with some experience they need. Jerrod Nodar,

D’Acquisto’s duties include recruiting, scouting, skill development, fundraising, and academic coordinator. Adam
also serves as the City College of San Francisco basketball
camp director. D’Acquisto played at City College during
the 1999–2000 season and helped the team win a Coast
Conference Championship.
D’Acquisto then became the Junior Varsity Coach at Saint
Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, where, in
2000–2002, he led the J.V. team to two consecutive West
Catholic Athletic League championships. He then served
for one year as an assistant on the varsity under legendary
California high school coach Don Lippi. Adam earned his
B.S. in Managerial Economics from UC Davis in 1999 and
completed his M.A. in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco in 2003. Prior to teaching at CCSF,
Adam started and ran the youth basketball program at the
Olympic Club in San Francisco. Adam lives in San Francisco
with his wife, Kimmie, and their 2 sons Anthony and Max.
Tom McNichol
ASSISTANT COACH
The 37 year-old Labagh resides in his hometown of San
Francisco with his wife Layla, and their three kids, Steele (7),
and Soheila “Soli” (5) and Aidan (1).
Adam D’Acquisto
Nima Shaahinfar
ASSISTANT COACH
Nima Shaahinfar enters his third season as assistant coach
for the City College of San Francisco Men’s Basketball
Program, where he provides the team and players further
insight through basketball analytics. From 2009–2011, Nima
charted games and researched statistics for the Oklahoma
City Thunder as they rose to be one of the NBA’s best teams.
Nima received his Masters in Sports Management from the
University of San Francisco in 2010, where he focused on basketball analytics research. He presented his research at the
2010 Northern California Symposium on Statistics and Operations Research in Sports and published later findings on his
basketball analytics blog. In a November 2012 article, ESPN
The Magazine featured Nima’s research and quoted him as
to how it applied to the NBA. Nima is an attorney, having
earned his law degree in 2004 from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. He received his Bachelors of
Science in Physics from UCLA in 2001. Nima is a San Francisco
resident where he lives with his wife Elizabeth.
ASSISTANT COACH
Adam D’Acquisto is entering his twelfth season as an
Assistant Coach to the Men’s Basketball Program and has
been an instrumental part of the program’s success. Coach
Coach McNichol graduated from Bucknell University and
captained the basketball team in 1978. He received his
Master of Arts in English from San Francisco State in 1984.
McNichol has been working with the Rams basketball team
since 1999 and oversees the athletic progress of the players
and conducts study hall. In his spare time, McNichol enjoys
helping Bay Area high school students prepare for the SAT
test to qualify for Division I scholarships. Some of the past
tutees include Dior Lowhorn (Texas Tech/USF), Eli Holman
(Indiana) and Quentin Thomas (North Carolina). McNichol has been an English instructor at CCSF since 1984. His
wife, Julia, also teaches at CCSF in the Transitional Studies
Department. Tom and Julia live in Oakland and have three
daughters, Kelsey, Devyn, and Cristina.

Wellness Center
City College’s Wellness Center creates a first-ever front
door for the campus on busy Ocean Avenue. Stepping up its hillside site, it welcomes thousands of students a day who arrive from the Balboa BART station,
ushering them into the activity-filled building or up
the grand lobby staircase and out onto the campus.
The building’s LED® equivalent design fits 156,000
square feet of program space into a very small footprint utilizing clever vertical stacking.
The Wellness Center houses physical education, martial arts, dance, conditioning, team sports, and City
College’s first aquatics center. It also fulfills a civic role
by integrating cleanly into the urban fabric and providing a physical anchor for the corner of the campus
and the east end of Ocean Avenue. The community
is thrilled to have an affordable resource for healthy
living housed in such a spectacular setting.

Outreach Program
City College of San Francisco
Men’s Basketball
Outreach Activities:
Besides going undefeated in the Coast Conference
North Division the past four years, The City College
Men’s Basketball team has also given back to the
community and participated in outreach activities
to benefit children and as well as adults.
The team visited Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary
to talk about Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success
with the 2nd–5th graders. The kids were divided into
small groups so each player could talk with the kids
about one of the blocks. Giving the kids the opportunity to talk with the athletes in a smaller group
setting has worked really well. As one of the teachers
shared, “I think it was a GREAT idea to break the kids
up into small groups; they were very engaged and
psyched to be talking with the players.”
The team also visited the Janet Pomeroy Center and
spent an entire afternoon playing basketball and

interacting with the folks there. The Pomeroy team
gave the Rams their first loss of the season, but both
sides were all smiles at the end. The half-time show
with both teams dancing together was a highlight to
be remembered and cherished. Although the members of the Pomeroy Center certainly took away some
fond memories, the Rams players benefited even
more from the experience.

CCSF RAMS BASKETBALL CAMP
FUN BASKETBALL & LIFE SKILLS
The City College of San Francisco Rams Basketball Camp has
enjoyed ten years of success, teaching hundreds of children
life skills through fundamental basketball principles. The
camps are designed to provide a fun and exciting basketball
camp experience for each camper while teaching the
fundamentals of the game. This goal is achieved by teaching
fundamentals and skills through station work. Character and
sportsmanship are addressed at the beginnning and end of
each day at camp. Each camper receives a camp shirt when
they walk in the gym, a camp ball on the last day, and life skills
handouts at the end of each camp day.
