VillaSport Complex at Villafranca Lunigiana
From the last week in June to early
September the “VillaSport” comunerun sports complex at Villafranca is
open from 10.30am to 7.30pm. The
complex is set in lovely wooded
surroundings on the edge of the town
and includes both swimming pools and
tennis courts. There is also a substantial
area of fenced parkland which families
use for picnicking, games and general
leisure activities. Overcrowding isn’t
usually a problem (even during school
holidays), and before lunch the pools
are often deserted.
Access
Villasport is less than 20mins drive from Lusignana. Go down to the main valley road (the SS62)
and follow the signs for Villafranca. On entering the Northern outskirts of the town take the second
left. After a very short distance the road curves round in front of the main entrance where parking is
available at 1eu per day (obtain ticket from nearby machine). Free, tree shaded roadside parking is
available along the road to the right of the complex.
Facilities
The complex was originally constructed in 1975 and was refurbished in 2005/6. It includes:
Beautiful Olympic-sized swimming pool set in lovely wooded surroundings.
High diving board, springboard, toddler pool, whirlpool.
Pizzeria/snack bar and barbecue facilities, volleyball court (free).
Tennis courts (clay) – one indoor and one outdoor.
Changing rooms, lockers, showers.
Comprehensive lifeguard supervision.
Cost (all day)
Adults: Entrance fee (weekdays): 10.30-12.30 & 2.30-4.30: 5eu, 12.30-2.30 & 4.30-6.00: 2.5eu.
Children: Complicated fee structure with large number of concessions inc monthly seasons.
Furniture: Poolside umbrella 3eu. Poolside lounger 3.5eu. Table and four chairs for park 6eu.
