HISTORY
Viking Services is a fully integrated service company that provides services to the oil and gas and geothermal
industries with the goal of becoming the most trusted and reliable service company in Turkish, Middle Eastern, North
African and European markets.
Viking International and Viking Geophysical were originally formed as wholly owned subsidiaries of TransAtlantic
Petroleum Corporation (TSX: TNP & AMEX: TAT) in 2008, with the primary objective of servicing the exploration
and development needs of TransAtlantic. To facilitate TransAtlantic’s need for services, Viking established seismic
acquisition, location construction, drilling, cased-hole wireline, fracture stimulation, cementing, acidizing, mudlogging,
underbalanced drilling, trucking, well testing, workover and rental services. As a result, Viking Services is now
recognized as the only industry standard non-NOC oilfield service provider in Turkey.
In 2012, as the growing demand for oilfield services was permeating Turkish, Middle Eastern, North African and
European regions, TransAtlantic decided it was time to make Viking Services an independent company to realize
growth potential and segregation of business focus. As a result, in June 2012, Viking International, Viking Oilfield
Services and Viking Geophysical were acquired by Viking Services BV. Viking Services is a partnership between The
Mitchell Group, Abraaj Capital, and BXR.
The acquisition strengthens Viking Services’ position as a fully integrated oilfield service group focused on providing
services in the conventional and unconventional resource plays in Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Kurdistan and
other key Eastern European and Middle Eastern countries. The combined group boasts a strong portfolio of services
across the well life, with a fleet of modern, technologically advanced equipment. With strong backing from its owners,
Viking Services intends to continue investing capital to expand its presence and service base across Turkey, the
Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe.
Mitchell Group founder, N. Malone Mitchell 3rd, has a longstanding history in the oilfield services sector. Mr. Mitchell
founded Riata Energy, Inc. in 1985, and within the first five years of business began acquiring small energy producers.
By the mid 1990s Riata began acquiring its own drilling rigs through its drilling subsidiary, Lariat Services (see www.
lariatservices.com, www.sandridgeenergy.com). In 2006, Riata was re-named SandRidge Energy, Inc. (NYSE: SD).
At the time of the acquisition, Riata had built a fleet of forty-six drilling rigs, an extensive fleet of workover units and
related service equipment. Riata and its subsidiary, Lariat Services, were drilling one well per day, becoming one
of the largest privately held energy companies and the largest privately held land driller in the United States. The
Mitchell Group is reflective of the Mitchell family investments worldwide in oil and gas, consumer goods, and real
estate sectors.

HEALTH / SAFETY / SECURITY /
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
To manage health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) issues of oil and gas activities is a matter of managing
risks. Reducing these risks is the key to efficient and sustainable production, employees going home safely at the end
of the day, and a cleaner environment. Viking Services is committed to the health, safety, and security of its personnel,
clients, and others with whom it interacts. Our partners have particularly wide variations in environmental risk exposure and

all product lines, acting as the key focal point for any customer seeking technical support and a diverse range of

smaller oil producers and completed its first successful well. In the early 1990’s, Riata expanded geographically through the purchase of
assets in the Piceance Basin of Colorado and the Permian Basin of West Texas. The company implemented a vertically integrated strategy,
which increased Riata’s focus on oilfield services and midstream to increase flexibility and reduce costs. Through asset purchases from
several major oil and gas companies in 1991, Pakenham field was established. After drilling or re-entering 34 wells, Riata sold Pakenham
field to Chevron for $97.5MM in 1994. In 1995, Riata acquired 200,000 acres of prospective acreage in the Pinon Field and Ouachita
Overthrust of West Texas. Soon after, Riata became the sole operator in the area through a purchase from FINA.
Riata began oilfield service operations in 1987. In 1997, Riata purchased its first drilling rig through Lariat Services. Over the subsequent
few years, Riata expanded its rig fleet to increase exploration and development. Additionally, Riata acquired and built-out gathering
systems and treating plants through its midstream services subsidiary, ROC Gas Company. In 2003, Riata purchased an initial interest in
PetroSource, an integrated CO2 Company. In 2005, Riata began development of its Piceance Basin acreage. In July 2006, Tom L. Ward,
co-founder of Chesapeake Energy (NYSE: CHK) acquired a controlling stake in Riata Energy for $500 million, and became the largest
shareholder. Mr. Mitchell sold the majority of his remaining share holding subsequently in 2008 and 2013.
In November 2006, Riata Energy purchased National Energy Group for $1.5 billion from an entity controlled by Carl Icahn. National
Energy Group’s core assets overlapped with Riata’s core properties. Soon after, Riata Energy was re-named SandRidge Energy
(NYSE: SD).
In December 2006, Mr. Mitchell resigned from daily management at Riata/SandRidge. From 1985-2006, Mr. Mitchell built Riata Energy
into one of the largest privately-held energy companies in the United States. Riata’s key milestones included:

(3) Operated for Exxon, Chevron, Conoco, BP, Occidental, amongst others
(4) Largest privately-held drilling company in the U.S. and during 2006, Riata completed approximately one well per day
(5) At one point, Riata Energy owned and operated the second largest under-balanced drilling company in the world
(6) Executed the largest North American farm out agreement in Exxon’s history, which committed Riata to drilling 25 wells per year

UNDERBALANCED DRILLING SERVICES
A Full Circle of Service from the UBD Regional Leader
It’s no accident that the Viking Services’ name is synonymous with Underbalanced Drilling (UBD) technology and
air drilling. We saw the necessity for UBD technologies and services back in the mid 1980’s while drilling in the
West Texas Overthrust. Viking dedicated the resources, realized our vision, and are now leaders with hundreds of
successful UBD wells to our credit.
What is Underbalanced Drilling and Why Use It?
Underbalanced drilling is the intentional reduction of drilling fluid density to lower hydrostatic pressure in a wellbore
so that it is lower than formation pore pressure. In underbalanced reservoir drilling (UBD), the emphasis is on
protecting the formation, particularly in low-pressure, depleted reservoirs. Encouraging the reservoir to flow while
it is being drilled avoids creation of wellbore buildup and its associated negative impact on well productivity and
reservoir recovery. Lower pressure in the wellbore also increases ROP, prolongs bit life, and prevents fluid loss
into the formation, making differential sticking unlikely. These benefits allow for enhanced production and reservoir
recovery which increases the economic viability, resulting in quicker payout for wells.
Or, more simply put, underbalanced drilling maintains hydrostatic wellbore pressure below formation pressure
while drilling.
Numerous Geological and
Pay Identification Benefits
Drilling Benefits
• Lower pressure in the wellbore
encourages
oil/gas

Completion Benefits
• No Drilling Mud to Clean up
From Formation or Fractures
• Allows for Zones to be
Quickly Tested
• Less Cleanup Time During
Flowback / Swab Testing
• Lower pressure means less
fluid loss when drilling,
resulting in reduced drilling
fluid costs, a decrease in lost
circulation time, and less nonproductive time.
Production Benefits
• Ability to jet in a well
• Replaces the need to
swab out a well
• Immensely reduces fluid loss
• Decreased Rig / Testing Costs

VS-BRO-02/17/2015
For decades, our operations in West Texas relied on air drilling to get through hard fractured limestone formations
quickly and without costly fluid losses. Air drilling uses mist or foam as the drilling fluid, increasing ROP and lengthening
bit life and ,although air drilling is an “old” technology in the U.S., it holds bright promise in the Eastern Hemisphere.
Viking Services consists of a team of management and drilling personal that have drilled hundreds of underbalanced
wells and have an excess of over 100 years of experience collectively in Underbalanced Drilling. We are well
positioned to provide expertise, in conjunction with our equipment and services, to operators looking for value and
experience from their partners.

CEMENTING SERVICES
When Reliability and Precision Matters
Viking Services’ mixing and pumping systems have been designed and engineered specifically to bring value and
dependability to our customers. Our technology stays on the cutting edge and is backed by performance, safety, and service.
Cementing
Our pressure pumping services consist of cementing services used in the completion of new oil and natural gas wells
in addition to remedial work on existing wells. Viking Services’ cementing services consist of blending high-grade
cement and water with various solid and liquid additives to create a cement slurry that is pumped into a well between
the casing and the wellbore. We contract with central, regional, and district laboratory testing facilities to evaluate
cement slurry properties, which can vary by cement supplier and local water sources. The principal application for
cementing services used in oilfield operations is primary cementing, or cementing between the casing string and the
wellbore during the drilling and completion phase of a well.
