Most people are staying at Henry’s Guest House with some taking their Caravans and staying at the Quirindi

Both accommodation locations are in a short walking distance to the Terminus Hotel where I have booked us in

accommodation is almost booked out.

Stroud Run – Saturday 5th July 2014
We left Hexham McDonalds at 8:10am proceeding up the highway towards Stroud turning left onto Buckets Way
we arrived in Stroud, where some cars lined up for the “Out of Africa” street parade, while others went down to
the showground and set up our club house. It was a fantastic parade our cars looked good as always.
Collene sat in Percy’s dickie seat waving to the crowd. (check the photos)
The showground was buzzing with activities. It might be a small country town, but Stroud is famous across the
world for a very unique reason they hold the annual rolling pin & brick throwing competition as well as wood
chopping competition, you could have grabbed yourself a Pluto Pup, Hot Chips, Nacho’s etc there was plenty of
food and heaps of market stalls and displays for everyone to browse through.
There was also a great show of cars on display from different clubs including NRVC cars.
It also happened to be Neville Maxwell’s Birthday so Debbie had made him a cake and we sang Happy Birthday
to him.
Everyone enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, when bricks fly and rolling pins are hurled through the air in Stroud it’s
time to celebrate, with more than 2500 people turning up for the historic event.
It all started in 1961, the contest traditionally pits the Upper Hunter town against the worlds three other Stroud’s,
in Canada, England and the United States.

Mulla Villa Run – Sunday 6th July 2014
Oh my, it was a cold morning, with everyone rugging up to try and stay warm, scarfs, gloves, hats, jackets etc.
NRVC left Edgeworth McDonalds and made our way up to Chainmen’s Hollow through some beautiful scenery
where we had Morning Tea.
We meet up with another 5 cars at Chainmen’s Hollow. Sandra Rumbel even feed the ducks.
We left there with 18 cars and 2 Motorbikes. It was great to see a big convoy of NRVC vehicles on such a
beautiful chilly Sunday morning with not a cloud in the sky.
Wow, we arrived at Mulla Villa it is tucked away in the Wollombi Valley, and is a beautifully restored guesthouse
which was built by the convicts back in 1840’s.
We all had a look around inside and out, it even had convict holding cells.
The outside grounds were also very nice.
We enjoyed lunch in the sunshine, while talking and laughing. The rare and valuable NRVC Certificates were
awarded to Doris Holmes, Frank Kowalski & Zira Scarr. There were 40 members, 5 visitors & 2 puppy dogs.
Glenn T spoke about our weekend out to Quirindi to be held on the 15th & 16th of Nov.
A few of us finished the day by having a drink back at the Wollombi Tavern. It was a good day!

Maitland Gaol Mid Week Run – Thursday 17th July 2014
NRVC left Edgeworth MacDonalds at 9:00am and we joined the convoy at Seahampton at 9.30am. and
proceeded on to Maitland Gaol. After morning tea, we were met by Peter – an ex-con come chaperone and
story-teller extraordinaire who conducted the guided tour of the gaol.
We heard stories of inmates of some renown – their habits both good and bad – along with some of the
punishments handed out by other inmates. These people seem to be a law unto themselves. We saw sections
where inmates who were in there for sex crimes were segregated from the rest and the cell where Ivan Milat
spent time Cell (No.14) was pointed out.
After leaving the gaol we headed to Morpeth. It was a nice sunny day but with extremely strong winds – certainly
not picnic weather! Some members took refuge behind a brick building in the park to eat their lunch, while others
chose the Pub. A large group met later for coffee at East Maitland Bowling Club.
In all, it was a great day with great company. There were a total of 23 in attendance and the Certificate for the
Run was awarded to Bill & Collene Kalb.
Happy Classic Motoring,
Reporters: Richard and Lorraine Laney
Tom & June Lloyd’s Run - Sunday 20th July 2014
Despite a cold start to the morning a large group of NRVC members and visitors gathered at McDonalds
Edgewoth. AS we were not expected at Tom & June place till 10:00am we took the scenic route via Morriset and
Wyee. On arrival a scrumptious morning tea prepared by Debbie Maxwell and Doris Holmes awaited us, I was
told that they spent all of Saturday cooking and preparing. What an effort Well Done Girls!
Downdstairs in the garages’s we were amazed by just how much memorabillia one can display in a limited
space, just when we thought we had seen everything it was “oh look at that over there” on the walls or the ceiling.
Rudy and I even had a dance to the Juke Box. It was many years of collecting on Tom and June’s past.
The manniquin of Marilyn Monroe was a hit I saw many of the men with their heads up her skirt checking out her
undies. The competition for highest score on the pin ball machine was feirce Daniel Paoletti’s score of 129,000
was beat by Brian Jackson with 142,000 only to be upset by George Vella with an impressive 246,000.
Bill and Collene Kalb was introduced to friends of June and Rudy, they were Bill and Colleen Williams.
As the weather was chilly and windy to go to Croudace Bay for lunch a decision was made to go our own way
after Tom and June’s place.
The rare and valuable NRVC certificate was awarded to Tom and June.
Thank you Tom and June Lloyd for opening your house up for our club.
