LES VINS - La Garrigue
LES VINS The languedoc, with its back country, its garrigue and its coast embracing the Mediterranean sea, is the largest wine-growing region in the world. A land of tradition and the birthplace of viticulture, this region has now some of the newest vineyards in the world; it is here that the great wines of the third millennium are being produced. I have selected some of the most outstanding for your pleasure….and mine! LES VINS La Garrigue is delighted to present an outstanding and unique range of Mas de Daumas Gassac. Founded in 1971 by the Guibert family under the guidance of Emile Peynaud, it has been described by the eminent wine writer Hugh Johnson as the “Only Grand Cru of the Midi”, and by the venerable Robert Parker as “exceptional”. From Samuel Guibert, winemaker at Daumas Gassac: Dear friends of La Garrigue At Mas de Daumas Gassac, the Garrigue surrounds the estate, the vineyards and even our home. It is where you find what epitomises the best of our region – wild boars, aromatic herbs such as thyme, rosemary, lavender, sage, pine trees and the very typical Mediterranean oak and of course a few vines! The Guibert family has always had a very strong attachment to the Garrigue forest and meeting Jean-Michel Gauffre in Edinburgh a few years ago was like finding a little bit of our Mediterranean land with some Scottish flavours! How could we then not have immediately engaged a very strong and friendly relationship with La Garrigue restaurant, such a fantastic ambassador for our beautiful region and its products? Today, we are very proud to have the opportunity to bring you some of the very special tastes and wonderful scents of the Languedoc region through JeanMichel’s cuisine matched with some extremely rare Mas de Daumas Gassac vintage wines. We hope that you enjoy your Mediterranean experience and we look forward to welcoming you very soon in our “magic” Gassac valley….
