Join the Friends of Belmont as we travel south to experience the art and history of Winston-Salem, NC. We will be spending
the night at Brookstown Inn which is in a former cotton mill built in 1837. Preserving the original structure of the building,
the Inn's interior is decorated to enhance the grand ceilings, original wooden beams, exposed brick and newly refinished
historic pine wood floors in the lobby.
Tuesday, October 20
We will arrive at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem in the afternoon to eat lunch and shop. We will then go to the Reynolda House
Museum of American Art and the historic home of R.J Reynolds. During our visit we will enjoy The Artist’s Garden: American Impressionism and the Garden Movement which will feature some of Gari Melchers’ paintings. The exhibition will tell the story of American
Impressionist artists and the growing popularity of gardening as a leisure pursuit at the turn of the 20th century. We will then check-in
to Brookstown Inn and travelers will be free to explore dining options. Downtown Winston-Salem and Historic Town of Salem are both
less than a mile from the hotel.
Wednesday, October 21
We will start off our day with complimentary breakfast and then head to MESDA (Museum of Early Southern Decorative Art) for a 45
minute guided tour. Travelers will then be able to explore Old Salem Museums and Gardens. While strolling around the village you
will witness historic trades performed by talented craftsmen and glimpse into the everyday lives of those who lived there during the
18th and 19th centuries.
Our trip cost includes transportation by deluxe motor coach, museum admissions, accommodations, complimentary wine and
cheese reception in the evening, cookies and milk before bed, and breakfast.
