CONYERS, GA – Shop the Rock, a local initiative that encourages
Conyers-Rockdale residents to shop and support local businesses and
services, recently unveiled the winner of its May 2014 $250 Shopping Spree
Contest. Tawana Barron, a parent of a student who attends C.J. Hicks
Elementary School, is the
May 2014 contest winner.
Barron chose a total of ten
$25 gift certificates from
the following participating
Conyers-Rockdale
businesses: Armspa
Massage, Awake Coffee,
Creamberry's, Don Tello's
Tex Mex Grill, Escentually
Yours, Hippie Chics, Los
Charros Mexican
Restaurant, Rockdale
Citizen, Sinfully Sweet

the teacher of Barron’s
son, won a $25 gift card
in conjunction with Barron’s contest win. Terry chose a $25 gift certificate to
Olympic Tire & Auto.
During the last two months of this school year, children in Rockdale county
elementary schools received coloring handout sheets to take home to their
parents. Then, the Shop the Rock handout encourages the parents to enter
online to win a $250 local shopping spree with their choice of gift certificates
from a list of participating businesses. As part of the contest, the businesses
sponsor contest prizes in return for advertising.
Shop the Rock Chairman Keith McGiboney asked Ms. Barron how she felt
about our new contest. She said, “It’s very exciting to win. I didn’t know
about some of the businesses that I chose, and I’m going to start using my
gift cards today!” Ms. Terry added that she was happy to be part of the shop
local campaign and was excited that she won a gift as well.
A public $500 contest began in May and a winner will be announced soon.
All you have to do is enter each month for a chance to win. The free
contest runs through December and certificates will be awarded to each
winner the following month. Residents must be 18 years of age or older to
