Business Portfolio - Alpine Adventures
Business Portfolio
Alpine Adventures began in 1997 as a snowmobile tour operator & was the first in New
Hampshire to hold a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service to conduct guided tours by
snowmobile. In 2004 Alpine Adventures chose to use the 6-wheel drive Pinzgauer for their
driveability and small footprint to create a year-round off road adventure tour in the White
Mountains. The off-road tours were an instant hit and were conducted with Alpine
Adventure's usual commitment to the highest level of customer service, safety and
entertainment. The unique tours set them apart from other attractions while creating a new
level of recreational experience.
In 2005, construction began on the first zipline canopy tour on the east coast. Since then, two
additional zipline courses have been built, the SkyRider & SUPER SkyRider Tours, on 300
private acres in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. The Thrillsville Aerial Adventure Park &
the BigAirBag Stuntzone were added to the Main Street headquarters in Lincoln. This constant
and continued evolution is a product of limitless vision and Yankee can-do attitude.

Safety practices
Alpine Adventures inspects its zipline courses and trucks daily. The facility is inspected by
ACCT certified personnel annually. Cables are ½" aircraft grade steel that will hold 23,000 lbs,
attached to trees and poles that are guy-wired and cemented to the ground, "where they will
turn into fossils in 3000 years," one engineer stated, attesting to its strength and durability.
Guests glide through the air using a pulley, climbing harness, and dual lanyards, conforming
and exceeding ACCT standards for load capacity.

The "Rides"
Pinzgauer
The Pinzgauer, named after the Austrian farm horses of sturdy build, high
endurance and excellent mountain climbing ability, was developed by SteyrDaimler-Puch of Austria in 1971 as a multi-purpose, military vehicle for on
and off-road use to operate in some of the most difficult terrain, and has
proven itself in the toughest environmental conditions throughout the world.
Approach and departure angles for off-road driving are 43 degrees allowing
easy maneuvering up and down steep slopes. It can travel in up to 30 inches of
water. The engine is air-cooled so it is not susceptible to freezing in the cold
climates.
In 2004, Alpine Adventures researched and chose to use the 6-wheel drive
Pinzgauer for their drivability and small footprint to create a year-round off
road adventure tour in the White Mountains. Alpine Adventures in the White
Mountains of New Hampshire was one of a handful of Pinzgauer owners in the
United States in 2004. Our Pinzgauers are also used to shuttle guests to the top
of the zipline canopy tours. We thought they were so unique and formidable
that they brought 2 Pinzgauers to their Jamaica location.
Off-Road Adventure Tour
The Off-Road Tour traverses up and over Barron Mountain in our Pinzgauer
military vehicles with stops at "Treewalk Village", the first zipline bridges and
platforms of SkyRider, as well as a summit clearing area with panoramic views
of the White Mountain region. The Pinzgauers have modified bucket seating
to accommodate 11 guests. The Pinzgauers include lap belts as well as padded
overhead cages for passenger safety. The Off-Road Adventure Tour generally
lasts an hour to 1 ½ hours. All participants must be at least three years of age
and all passengers must be less than 300lbs.
Treetop Canopy Tour
The Treetop Tour starts with a gentle ground take-off to put you in the
trees. It is a great introduction to ziplining, or for those looking to
explore the forest canopy up close and personal. The ziplines range
from 250’ to 1,000’ long. There are ziplines from tree to tree on 10'
platforms reaching heights of 80' off the forest floor, and ziplines that
transverse ground to ground. The Treetop Tour boasts a final zip, “Zip
Six”, that has a 10’ free-fall. The Treetop Tour has six ziplines and one
suspension bridge. The tour takes about 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete
with a full group of 13, including a shuttle from our office on Main
Street and an exciting off-road ride up to the start of the course. All
participants must be at least 50 lbs. and no more than 240 lbs. and no
taller than 6’5”.
SkyRider Tour
The SkyRider Tour is recommended for guests who have ziplined
before or enthusiastic first timers. SkyRider begins from "Treewalk
Village", 50' off the ground in two platforms as the first zipline is a dual
racing line. The tour includes 5 separate ziplines including 2 side-byside ziplines, with 5 suspended bridges and multiple tree platforms.
The longest zipline is 1600' long and 200' off the ground, crossing valley
after valley. "White Knuckle Pine", SkyRider’s final zipline, is a free-fall
zip reaching speeds up to 50mph. This course takes 2½ hours to
complete with a group of 13, including a shuttle from our office on
Main Street and exciting Off-Road ride up to the start of the course. All
participants must be at least 70 lbs. and no more than 240 lbs. and no
taller than
6’5”.
Super SkyRider Tour
SUPER SkyRider Tour is slightly more challenging. The tour includes
faster, longer and higher ziplines, a 30’ ladder climb to a zipline
platform and 6 suspension bridges. This is generally recommended for
experienced zipliners. There are 2 "zap-lines", a twist on the traditional
zipline, where the participant must get their momentum up to reach the
next zipline platform. The highest point is about 250' above the ground
and the free-fall zip can reach speeds over 60 mph. This tour is
considered to be more “extreme” due to the physical ability required to
climb and hike farther than the Treetop or SkyRider tours. All
participants must be at least 70 lbs. and no more than 220 lbs. and no
taller than 6’5”.

Snowshoe Tour
The guided snowshoe excursion lasts approximately two hours, including
a 1 hour off-road tour in our 6 wheel drive Pinzgauer, and a 30 to 45
minute snowshoeing tour. The off-road aspect of the tour allows for
panoramic views of the White Mountains while the snowshoe tour allows
for learning of the local wildlife and logging history of northern New
Hampshire amidst the snow-covered trails.
The tour is approximately one mile, with multiple routes to choose from
based on difficulty, weaving under ziplines overhead from the three
courses on site. The Treehouse, built in 2015, is an added stop where
guests can overlook the south facing mountain ranges. Guests are
provided with the necessary equipment needed to trek through the snow;
Snowshoes, trekking poles and helmets.
Snowshoe tours are offered for general group bookings as well as private
bookings. The general tour can accommodate up to 11 people and go out
on a scheduled basis. Private tours can be arranged for special occasions
or just for a more private tour.
Thrillsville Aerial Adventure Park
The Thrillsville Aerial Park is a self-guided course and participants are
shown how to "clip" and "un-clip" using their smart belay system. The
course consists of bridges, cargo nets, ladders, 2 ziplines, a treehouse, a
climbing tower with different levels of difficulty as well as a Powerfan©
free-fall device. In 2012, the BigAirBag© Stuntzone was added to the park
along with the Colossus Stunt Ramp.
All activities are split into three different levels. Level One consists of two
suspension bridges, the treehouse and two ziplines. Level Two has
miscellaneous obstacles participants have to maneuver around. Level
Three includes a lily pad walkway, cargo net climb across and the
Powerfan©free-fall. The participant can have three attempts to climb up
the climbing tower and is followed by three slides down into the
BigAirBag© Stuntzone via a snow tube.
The BigAirBag© Stuntzone can also be purchased separate from
Thrillsville Aerial Park. Participants must be at least 50lbs. and at least 6
years old to participate in levels one and two and must be at least 12 years
old to participate in all levels.
