door-to-door coach holidays
2015
DOOR-TO-DOOR COACH HOLIDAYS
ANOTHER year (2015 will be our 26th)
and another selection of holidays and
short breaks throughout England,
Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Continental
Europe. Our aim is to provide you with
well organised tours to beautiful and
interesting places that offer excellent
value-for-money. We never use feeder
coaches so you will not be driven
halfway round the south of England
before you even start your holiday –
just two or three local pick ups and you will be on your way
to your destination. What’s more, nearly all our tours include
door-to-door service and porterage for your luggage.
The key to a successful and enjoyable coach holiday is,
without doubt, the driver. At Roadmark we think we have
some of the best, most of who have been with the company
for many years. Professional, caring and dedicated to ensuring
that you have the best holiday possible. High quality hotels
are also important and we take great care in selecting
the hotels that we use. Some are longstanding family-run
favourites such as the Royal York and Faulkner in Sidmouth,
the Marine in Paignton and Torquay’s Corbyn Head Hotel.
Others are part of well respected groups like the Maritim
Hotel in Stuttgart or the Bath Hilton. Then there are traditional
seaside hotels - the Queens Hotel in Penzance and the
Chesterhouse on the Isle of Man - not quite as smart perhaps
but still with comfortable rooms, good food and service.
We continue to work with Warner Leisure Hotels who have
fabulous entertainment and a wide range of leisure activities.
This year we will be visiting three Warner properties, Thoresby
Hall in Nottinghamshire, Alvaston Hall in Cheshire and, for the
first time, Sinah Warren in Hampshire.
We feature four fully escorted tours this year. Blue Badge
Guide Paul Fisher will be travelling with our group to Historic
Bath and Bristol in April. Tony Pragnell will accompany
Lake Annecy & Haute-Savoie in May and the holiday to the
Salzkammergut region of Austria in October. And in August
we are offering another chance to experience Jersey’s
colourful Battle of the Flowers.
Whilst including destinations that have been popular with our
clients in the past we always like to introduce something new
each year. 2015 sees our first ever “Fly-Coach” holiday to the
beautiful Fjords of Norway, and a visit to Potters, the fivestar holiday village on the Norfolk coast. In October you can
explore one of England’s attractive waterways on a Historic
Canal Cruise aboard the Edward Elgar.
Roadmark Travel’s latest touring coach
is an Irizar I6 with 48 seats, delivered in
Summer 2014.

THE MENTON LEMON FESTIVAL & NICE CARNIVAL 2015
MONDAY 16TH FEBRUARY FOR 8 DAYS
RE
Q
We last arranged this tour to the French Riviera in 2013 and are
pleased to offer another opportunity to experience the unique Lemon
Festival in Menton and colourful Carnival in Nice, each among the
largest events of their kind in the world. You will stay in the attractive
town of Diano Marina on the Ligurian Riviera, set in a wide sweeping
bay with a colourful palm-fringed promenade and charming old centre
with cafés and shops to explore. The region is known for its mild
climate, and temperatures are generally higher than in other parts
of northern Italy, making it an ideal place to visit early in the year.
THE MENTON LEMON FESTIVAL
The Fête du Citron dates back to the 1930s. The whole town bursts into
a riot of colour for the annual citrus-scented celebration. The theme
for 2015 is an intriguing one – “Tribulations of a lemon in China” and
will need to be seen to be believed! Visit the Casino Gardens which are
decorated with enormous structures covered in lemons. Admission to
the Citrus Exhibition is included and you will have a seat for the Moonlit
Parade with its colourful floats, bands, musicians and dancers
THE NICE CARNIVAL
The Carnival in Nice is the Riviera’s main winter event and one of the
largest carnivals in the world. In a unique setting on the Promenade des
Anglais the elegant “flower battles” take place as the giant colourful
floats work their way up to the Place Massena. The theme for 2015 will
be “The King of Music” and traditional papier maché figurines will be
paraded to the accompaniment of street theatre and music groups from
all over the world

THE CORNWALL SPRING FLOWER SHOW
FRIDAY 27TH MARCH FOR 5 DAYS
Known as “The Little Chelsea of the West”, the Cornwall Spring
Flower Show attracts 10,000 visitors annually to Boconnoc House
near Loswithiel. This country estate and deer park provides the
perfect setting for a flower show, for spring arrives here earlier than
anywhere else on the British mainland. This year we have based the
tour at the comfortable Jurys Inn Hotel in Plymouth.
ITINERARY
DAY 1 Taxi pick-up from your home to the coach. We make our way
through The New Forest, Dorset and Devon to arrive in Plymouth by
late afternoon.
DAY 2 We drive across the Tamar Bridge to the Boconnoc Estate,

Cornwall Garden Society, the Show is a sensory exploration of Cornish
gardening where exuberant displays guarantee a colourful spectacle.
The large estates such as Trewithen, Heligan, Mount Edgcumbe,
Caerhays Castle and Trewidden all take part and visitors can drool
over magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias, while there is one
area entirely devoted to daffodils. There are lots of nurseries selling
plants, and plenty to eat and drink including tasty traditional CORNISH
PASTIES.
DAY 3 This morning we visit THE GARDEN HOUSE, set in a tranquil
Devon valley and steeped in history. The 8-acre garden is several
gardens in one, from the beautiful Walled Garden to the more recently
created areas in the Long Walk. Later we take you on a scenic coach

HISTORIC BATH & BRISTOL accompanied by Paul Fisher
SUNDAY 12TH APRIL FOR 5 DAYS
Following visits to York and Chester with Blue Badge Guide Paul Fisher
we are delighted to welcome Paul back for this new tour exploring
two of our finest cities in the southwest. We have chosen to stay at the
Hilton Hotel, right in the centre of historic Bath, providing an ideal base
from which to explore all the sights of this fascinating city, founded by
the Romans in the 1st century AD and now a World Heritage Site.
ITINERARY
DAY 1 Join your Tour Manager, driver and fellow passengers on
the coach then drive through Hampshire and the Savernake Forest to
Marlborough. This elegant town has fine Georgian buildings and one of the
widest main streets in the country. Your guide will introduce you to some
of Marlborough’s historical features and there will be time for lunch. Reach
Bath late afternoon and check in to the Hilton Hotel for 4 nights.
DAY 2 We spend the whole day exploring Bath. Paul will take you
where it all began, at the amazing Roman Baths and Pump Room. The
Baths were constructed around a natural hot spring and the remains,
which you will see on your visit, are remarkably complete and among
the finest in Europe. An orientation coach tour will show you some of
Bath’s fine architecture and Georgian terraces and we shall also visit
the Costume Museum with its collection of garments from 1750 to the
present day. The Museum is housed in the magnificent setting of The
Assembly Rooms where, in Georgian times, more than a thousand
people would gather for grand parties and balls.
DAY 3 Today we shall head for the once thriving port of Bristol.
A coach tour will introduce you to the most significant sights and
buildings and we will take a drive through the classy district of Clifton
to view Brunel’s famous Suspension Bridge over the Avon Gorge.
Lunchtime will be spent in the City Centre with the option of eating at
the Llandoger Trow, a historic public house dating from 1664 associated
with Daniel Defoe and Robert Louis Stevenson. An afternoon visit takes
us to Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s ss Great Britain, one of the most
important ships in the world, launched
in 1843 and now fully restored in her dry
dock next to Bristol’s floating harbour.

JERSEY “THE BATTLE OF THE FLOWERS”
WEDNESDAY 12TH AUGUST FOR 5 DAYS
Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, lies in the Bay of Mont
St. Michel just 14 miles off the French coast. It is rich in natural beauty
and there are views of the sea from virtually every point on the Island.
We use a local coach operator to provide transport on Jersey and
the holiday will be accompanied by a representative from Roadmark
Travel. First staged to celebrate the Coronation of Edward VII, the
Battle of the Flowers is one of the largest floral carnivals in Europe.
In the early days the floats were horse-drawn and it was traditional for
flowers to be torn from the float and thrown to a lady in the crowd, in
the hope that one would be thrown back. Hence this is how the ‘Battle’
got its name. Today floats are up to 45 feet long, and horses have
been replaced by motorised transport.

culture of the autonomous state of Catalonia.
Santa Susanna is situated on the north of the Costa de BarcelonaMaresme, between the sea and the mountains near the MontenegreCorredor National Park. The resort has a mild climate, a long golden
beach and fragrant pine groves. Nearby Malgrat is an old Catalan
town with narrow cobbled streets, closely packed houses and a busy
weekly market.

Travelling past Reims and through the Champagne region we reach
Dijon and stay overnight at the Novotel Marsannay la Cote with buffet

ANDRÉ RIEU
IN CONCERT
THE GREAT ESCAPE
– SPRING 2016
We have had a number of
clients ask about André Rieu
concerts and are pleased to
say that we are looking at the
possibility of a short European
tour which will include one of
his famous performances.
A Dutch violinist, André Rieu is best known for creating the waltzplaying Johann Strauss Orchestra which has turned classical and
waltz music into a highly successful concert touring music act.
Tickets for his concerts are always in great demand and need to be
purchased well in advance. We are compiling a list of those clients
who may be interested in joining us.
In 2016 we are planning to
repeat one of Tony Pragnell’s
most interesting tours……THE
GREAT ESCAPE! This 10-day
grand tour will take us to
BERLIN, DRESDEN, MEISSEN, POTSDAM and COLDITZ.
THE SCINTILLATING
SCILLIES
Having overcome wartime devastation, Dresden is now restored as the
beautiful capital of Saxony. This captivating city created by King Augustus
the Strong is clustered by the riverbank, dramatic yet compact, the sights
are within a stroll of our hotel.
The Scilly Isles are a place
like nowhere else in England.
Outstandingly beautiful,
uncrowded and unspoilt, this
Island archipelago lies just
off the coast of Cornwall but
seems like a world apart. We
shall be staying on the main
island of St.Mary’s, and there
will be the opportunity to visit some of the “off Islands” like Tresco
with its tranquil ruined Abbey and world-famous gardens. We have
a provisional date of July 27-August 2.
Berlin
We have a guided tour, and leisure time exploring the history either side
of the defunct borders of East and West. We have a free day as well, with

Elbe by historic paddle-steamer and a visit to Cecilienhof Palace where the
allied powers held The Potsdam conference. We visit Mohne Dam, scene of

You have a duty to take reasonable care to answer questions fully and accurately, and that any
information you volunteer is not misleading. This applies both when you take the policy out and
at any time during the policy period. If you do not do so, the underwriters reserve the right to
void your policy from inception.
Because an insurance policy can only provide cover in respect of accident, illness, loss or damage
for an event/occurrence which is sudden, unforeseen and beyond your reasonable control, you
must also tell us if you are aware of any circumstances at the time you purchase this insurance,
or at any time afterwards, which could possibly result in you having to make a claim; otherwise
you may not be covered.
We reserve the right to charge an additional premium, amend the policy terms, or decline to offer
cover if we feel that the information you give us changes our assessment of the risk involved.
CANCELLATION RIGHTS
If your cover doesn’t meet your requirements, please let Roadmark Travel Ltd know within 14 days
of receiving your policy document and return all your documents for a refund of your premium.
Any premium already paid will be refunded to You providing you have not travelled, no claim has

We are grateful to
all our customers
who wrote or
emailed following
their holiday with
Roadmark in 2014.
Here are just a few
of the nice things
you told us…
“Colin was a
superb driver, good
tempered and friendly
over every journey”.
Tony’s programme of trips
was varied and interesting;
ancient caves, glorious
gardens and majestic
chateaux….Our Best
Western Hotels were
superb – faultless
in every
respect”
“I feel I must write
to say how extremely
well planned the WWI
Battlefield trip was last week. It
was obvious that a lot of careful
thought and organisation had
gone into the planning detail of
the tour and the fact that we
had such excellent guides each
day helped to widen our
knowledge of events that
took place all those
years ago”
“We would just
like to say how much
we enjoyed our holiday
to Lancashire. Mark, as
always, gave 100% and made
sure everyone was happy. Les
deserved a fee for his excellent
piano playing in the evenings
and everyone enjoyed the
sing song on the coach
coming home”
And you sent us hundreds of super photos...

David for all the safe driving
and you folk in the office who
arranged everything. The

of Man & Belfast”
“We have just returned
from a fantastic Roadmark
holiday in North Wales. Thank
you so much for our 50th
Wedding Album, we will fill it
with memories of our trip. It was
