Failure
Grandma sent me a
newspaper clipping
recently. She was
heartbroken to hear
about and to—eventually
—witness my smoking.
But, she seemed even
more heartbroken by my
apparent “failure” to quit,
and by “failure” I mean
my gradual switch to
vaping. To Grandma,
who’s approaching 90,
I’m still smoking. This is
even after an exhausting
but patient explanation of
what I was actually
inhaling, its generally neutral effects, and the fact that I hadn’t smoked an analog
cigarette in months. Even after the technology, the scientific studies, the ingredients
and the growing popularity as an alternative to cigarettes, I was still smoking. Dr. Oz
told her so and, now, was trying to tell me so.
This Dr. Oz article’s (“Dr. Oz: Can electronic cigarettes help me quit smoking?”)
main point of contention is that e-cigs are responsible for perpetuating the cycle of
nicotine dependence. Nicotine, on its own, isn’t terribly harmful; the 4000+
carcinogens in cigarettes are. Oz apparently doesn’t know the difference, and I don’t
think that his article would hold up if it didn’t also make a jab at the fact that the FDA
doesn’t regulate e-cigs, so “no one knows for sure what’s in the water vapor that
drifts out of them.” You hear that? No one knows. Are the only people qualified or
capable of finding this information part of the FDA? Must be.
Oz also doesn’t mention and/or isn’t aware that the ability to regulate (and, thus,
reduce) nicotine levels exists within juices formodified e-cigs. I won’t deny that I am
still physically addicted to nicotine, but I can say that, after several months, I’ve
decreased the nicotine level in my juices from 24mg to 6mg (and just ordered a batch
of 0mg). Undeniably, e-cigs can work to gradually reduce nicotine dependence—if one
wants them to.
And if one wants them to is an important question. If you want to quit smoking,
you can quit smoking. Try some, try ‘em all! Most quit-aids are proven to work in
various degrees. The article offers some standard lifestyle solutions to quitting,
includingdiet upgrade and daily exercise, which I don’t disagree with as a
supplement. But, he also strongly emphasizes “stick[ing] with patches and gum for
smoking cessation.”I’m reducing my nicotine dependence the same way I would with
either. A friend of mine has been chewing nicotine gum for seven years. Seven years!
What excited me about vaping was that I didn’t have to give up the activity of
smoking while I reduced nicotine dependence. I didn’t hate smoking, I hated the
consequences of smoking. I hated the cough, the cost, the smell, the dulled senses,
the remarkable health risks, and any other negative tagalong tobacco included. For
me, vaping mimicked smoking, which was something I loved to do.
As a nicotine addict, I might find any reason to stay on the drug. Some vapers
will vape for the rest of their lives, just like some gum-chewers will chew gum for the
rest of their lives.Yes, vaping can perpetuate nicotine dependence, but it doesn’t have
to. The responsibility lies with the vaper.

It only takes one puff or pinch for the
habit to start. At the age of 12, Rick Bender made a decision that would change the
course of his life. Back then Bender was an
all-star baseball player who looked up to
advertisements to “take a pinch instead of
a puff,” touting chewing tobacco as a safe
alternative to smoking. A lot of his friends
were smoking at the time, and Bender
didn’t want to smoke because his mom
would have smelled the evidence. So, he
took up dipping/chewing—since profes-
sional athletes were endorsing it, it had to
be safe, right?
Bender ended up smoking over time
as well, and easily was dipping a can a day
and sometimes a pack a day of cigarettes
when he was trying to quit dipping. Then
at 26—life changed. He developed sores
in his mouth that would come and go,
and then one day one didn’t go away.
“I laid off tobacco and Christmas of
1988 the sore metastasized. I bounced
around a couple of doctors who didn’t
know what it was, and then I found an ear,
nose and throat doc who did a biopsy on
a bump on my tongue,” Bender said. “It
was the worst week of my life—waiting.”
Bender ended up going in for surgery
10 days before his 27th birthday. After a
12 and a half hour surgery that took part
of his tongue, his jaw and lymph glands in
his neck, Bender was left without part of
his face and a doctor that told his family
he would be lucky to reach the age of 30.
“I’m still here. I’m ultra lucky. I can’t
lick my lips, and it’s amazing I can speak,”
Bender said.
As for the hype of tobacco as the safe
alternative, Bender said he thinks people
fall for it because tobacco is smokeless.
In fact, it includes 28 known harmful carcinogens, more than cigarettes, nicotine
being one. Bender fought to quit tobacco
for his entire smoking/dipping life—until
he found the ecigarette.
“The ecig has four chemicals in it, none
with known carcinogens. One is nicotine,
but it can be without. That’s why I can get
behind it,” Bender said.
Bender now is a cessation advocate
who gives speeches across the country to
high school students and other groups.
Once he started getting hit with questions about the ecig about 18 months
ago, he decided to do his own research.
He wanted to be educated so when the
time came to talk about vaping, he was
prepared. However, a lot of his groups are
under 18, so he has to be careful not to
glamorize vaping. He said he’s still working on how to approach the subject, especially with all of the contradicting research.
“I basically for whatever reason was
being lied to by the people that I was
working with (about the ecig). I saw 15 or
so of my buddies just flat out quit (smoking/dipping) with the ecigarettes,” Bender
said. “Half the time I had the patch on and
I was battling with it, so I got one and I
tried it. I haven’t had an inkling to go back
to tobacco since.”
When Bender started vaping, he didn’t
want to go with the traditional stick ecig
and he wanted to control what he was
putting in it. He came across the Volcano
brand and liked the juices and the way
the ecig worked for him.
“I found it to be a quality based company that was really concerned with producing a quality product,” he said.
“I’ve been talking about tobacco for
22 years, and I think in getting behind
the ecig I can throw some weight around
there,” he said.
He said that the ecig attacks three
main issues with quitting tobacco: the
nicotine addition, the oral fixation and
the visual cues of smoke/vapor.
“When I started the ecig I was bumping 32-24 mg of nicotine and now I’m
down to eight mg and actually mix even
lighter stuff. I found I wanted the flavor
back and half been self-reducing on my
own,” he said. “I wanted the pleasure that
vaping can bring and the taste that goes
with it. There’s a commitment that has to
be made, but it’s nowhere near anything
else on the market when it comes to cessation.”
When Bender is asked the question
about quitting tobacco and the egic, his
standard answer is that if a person uses
the ecig, they are probably going to increase and improve quality of life.
“The bottom line is if you want to quit,
you have to make up your mind you want
to do it. The beauty of the ecigarette is
that it gives you that crutch that you are
trying to lean on when trying to quit tobacco,” he said. “Wean yourself down. You
are in total control in to what you are putting into the ecig.”
SEEING THROUGH THE SMOKE
More Than a Lifestyle
By Steven Konowe
Myself and many others that I know started the vaping journey about two years ago. At
that time there were very few forums to seek and ask for help pertaining to mods, juice
accessories and other pertinent items that a vaper needed. There were no communities to join
and talk about vaping, and everyone was in their own little world trying to figure out this
relatively new thing called an e-cig.
Because of the fact that there was not a lot of assistance, we as vapers spent hundreds
of dollars on wasted items or bad juice that just did not do it for us. When I personally
started this journey, I promised myself that I would read, learn and research all I could
regarding the e-cig market. At some point I would create something that we could pass on to
new vapers so they would not have to go through the trials and tribulations that we did.
Two years later, a lot has happened. We now have vaping communities, radio shows, various forms of assistance and new
and upgraded products that have revolutionized the market. We have groups such as The Consumer Advocates for SmokeFree Alternatives (CASSA) to ensure that we have a leg to stand on when there are many organizations against us to keep ecigs alive. The vaping lifestyle is a community of forums and formats that come together in unique and different ways to help
assist and inform vapers, so that they can make informative decision on vape gear and what to buy. It is a bond that is
created like no other, a quit smoking forum in which we all share a true passion for life, better health and happiness. We also
have vape meets, expos and social media to get our positive message across to vapers that they are now not alone. For
those not yet in the know about the vaping lifestyle, it is our job to inform them about e-cigs and current facts.
The best part about our lifestyle is that we get to share experiences and talk vaping in a way that makes us feel great
about ourselves. We get to show pictures of our mods, juice and gear and in return can comment on others. This community
has come a long way in two years, and the fact that we can pass information on to the new vapers is a testament that we
really are one, even if we are far apart across the country or in different forums.
One of the many positive outcomes of vaping, in my opinion, is the health factor. I can now taste things better; I can walk
up steps and not be winded, I can go to the doctor and get better reports; and my clothes and car doesn’t smell. In most
areas, vapers can vape inside on a rainy day or a hot summer’s day or a freezing winter’s day. We can trade juices and gear
and talk about the best mods. Our community is one that overcomes obstacles. The key is a positive approach. The vaping
lifestyle is one that I personally am proud to be a part of through good, bad or indifference.
If you are interested in learning more about the vaping community, Vapers Helping Vapers is one that assists vapers in
need that are in financial distress. It is also provides a wealth of informational support and caring. Linda Mandaro, Marci
Holland, Nate Volz, Melanie Page, and Debbie Guardino have put a lot of hard work and effort into this community. Lisa
Ciarlone also must be acknowledged for going above and beyond for our community. I also want to mention that as a
community it is key to sign petitions and get involved with some groups that help us fight the good fight every day.
Everything is possible in numbers.
In closing I will say that depending on the state you live in you will over time see a difference in savings from analogs. Just
remember it does take time to see these financial savings, but in the long run the health benefits will outweigh any other area
of vaping from analogs. We also are grateful to Vape Magazine for allowing us a true format to share our thoughts and
opinions. Remember the accomplishment of helping a new vaper transfer to vaping from analogs in a non-overwhelming stepby-step way is the best gift you can give.

IT’S A
Interview with
Jwraps founder Alon Dotan
Interviewed by Matt Schramel
VAPE: How long have you been in business
and how did you get started?
Alon Dotan: Jwraps, LLC has been in business
since August 2012. It is a sister company to
JSigns and Graphics, a full print shop that has
been in business since 2000.
I’ve been vaping since 2008 and had purchased
many devices, including some high-end devices. I wanted a way to protect and customize
my devices, so I consulted my nephew (now
my business partner) Jeremy White, and together we developed our first device templates
for the Provari, GGTS and iHybrid. I took pictures and showed them to friends on several
vaping forums that I belonged to, and people
went crazy for the concept. Jeremy and I
decided to form Jwraps, LLC soon after and
our company has grown in leaps and bounds
since then, becoming an internationally
recognized company.
VAPE: What sets you apart from other companies in
this industry?
Alon Dotan: We invented the mod wrap concept for electronic cigarettes (have a patent pending) and pride ourselves in
having the largest selection of designs and device templates
in the industry. Jwraps has close to 100 devices wrapped,
as well as tank wraps, unique mod stands and more than
160 designs. We take customer service very seriously and
partner with our customers to constantly improve our products. We also are very involved in the vaping community by
sponsoring online vaping networks and hosting giveaways.
We always are looking for creative ways to promote vaping
awareness.
VAPE: Do you create your wrap designs?
Alon Dotan: Yes, we push ourselves to be innovative and accurate
in every design we make. Our graphics department is dedicated
to creating new and custom designs for customers daily.
VAPE: Can people submit their own designs? Have
you thought about
creating a creative
community, similar to
many T-shirt companies, where designers
can submit their own
designs for sale on
the site?
Yes, we welcome
customers to submit
custom designs that we
apply to our mod templates. We offer royalties to graphic designers
that submit custom
graphics to us that we
approve for distribution
on our website.
VAPE: Are there mods that can’t be wrapped?
Yes, some devices have unique shapes and contours that
even our high performance vinyl won’t adhere or conform
to. We have a very meticulous process in testing mod wraps
for each of the devices that we obtain to ensure that it
meets the high standards we set for quality, durability and
ease of application. We strive to have 100 percent customer
satisfaction, and we know that our customers have come to
expect excellence from us.
VAPE: Tell me about your truck and the wrap job.
It definitely was more challenging than wrapping an e-cig
device! Jwraps was born in a sign and graphics shop that
has been wrapping vehicles for years, so wrapping the truck
was something that we knew would compel a great deal
of attention at vape meets and other events. It’s a sizable
truck, so the installation took two days, three guys and
about 50 feet of vinyl, but we enjoyed every minute of it.

The Vivi Nova, for many vapers, is a tried and true clearomizer. It has a
large ml capacity, looks cool, is easy to fill and rarely leaks. It’s also
rebuildable if you’re handy. First, determine what you want to use to
create the wick. Silica string is standard, but it can be rebuilt with anything
like stainless steel, bamboo thread, ceramic wick and even cotton. Braided
cotton candlewick is highly durable and rather inexpensive. This rebuild
uses cotton, but the same directions would work for all of the other
materials.
Fold the wires over the edges of
the atomizer ensuring they are
not crossed or touching each
other in the center cylinder.
You’ll need a Vivi Nova head that
has had its coil removed, a
length of wick and Kanthal and a
sturdy object like a large, thick
paper clip straightened.
Wrap your Kanthal wire around the wick and sturdy object. With
the object still in place, arrange the coil neatly and space it as best
you can. Five to seven coil “lines” will be around 2.0 to 2.4Ω.
Place the rubber
grommet around one of
the coil lines and press
it in, trapping one wire
between the rubber
and the outside.
Replace
center pin,
trapping the
other wire
between the
grommet and
the center pin.
With your wick and coil completed, trim it to
the desired length and then, using the same
sturdy object, unbraid the ends allowing the
liquid to wick more easily.
Grab your atomizer hardware. Pull
out the metal pin and the rubber
grommet. This leaves you with three
pieces. Also, remove the object from
your wick and coil.
40
Place your new wick and coil in the
hardware and feed the Kanthal lengths
down through the center cylinder.
Place the whole unit straight up
and down between your thumb
and finger. Grab the wires and
turn them like you would a crank.
They will snap neatly off.
Replace the rubber cap and put it in the Nova.
Fill and vape!
Caution: It is NOT recommended to ever
dry burn cotton. Ensure the wick is fully
saturated before attempting to fire.

I
n a market full of electronic cigarettes it’s
tough to differentiate between quality and
what is just the current cool device that will
break in a few months. I have been a vaper
for more than three years and have seen a lot
of devices come and go. One trend that I truly
believe will stick around are devices that use
wattage for the power to the atomizer. Namely, we’re talking about DNA 20 devices.
If you are interested in the world of wattage but do not understand what it is, here is a simple analogy. Adjusting a device’s
voltage is like driving a manual transmission car; you need to fine
tune the voltage output to find the performance that you desire out
of your atomizer. Devices with wattage are like having a car with
cruise control; you set the device to what you think tastes the best
and forget it. In most cases, you can take any atomizer, clearomizer
or cartomizer and put it a device and it will, theoretically, vape the
same. even if the “toppers” have different resistances (ohm).
Now, with a general understanding of how wattage can be beneficial for you, you now can search for a device. Your search will bring
up a plethora of devices such as a Darwin, Opus D, -Z-max, etc. As
an enthusiast vaper, I have used an array of devices at one time or
another and I would recommend that you to look to the modding
community for a device solution that is equally as good, if not better, than the mass produced devices for about the same price.
Matt Olmstead or Fazed is a modder who has turned his passion
for the exploration of electronic cigarettes into a business with a
whole lineup of devices that use the evolv DNA 20 chip. One conversation with him will have your head spinning with all sorts of new
terminology to ponder. I have the FZ-mini, which he sells on his
site, www.fazedboxmods.com, for $200. Considering the fact that
many DNA-based devices sell for more than $250 a pop, Olmstead’s
devices almost are a bargain for the quality craftsmanship and technology. He even has a cheaper DNA20 device that takes two 18650
batteries being offered at only $135.
the FZ-Mini is of a very simple design, constructed of a small
durable aluminum case with
black hard plastic bumpers
around the top and bottom. It
features: two buttons, a screen,
a rugged 510 connection, a
“fire” button and a mini uSB
charger on the bottom. the
two buttons on the front are
simple and have one purpose—
to adjust the wattage up or
down. the screen cut out is
large enough to read the entire
DNA20 screen, which a few
devices have failed to do. the
510 connection has a sturdy
feel with a rugged metal look.
every “topper” I have used fits
beautifully on the device. the
“fire” button is a stainless steel
button that is very tactile with
a reassuring click, something
many vapers prefer in a device.
And finally, the charging port.
the mini uSB port is placed on the bottom of the FZ-Mini
which can make it a turn off for vapers who like to have
their mod stand up while charging. I personally like it on
the bottom because it allows me to charge and continue using the device while I am using my Galaxy S3 car
charger without having a cable in the way. the device
is powered by a 1900 mAh LiPo battery, which may not
seem like a lot of mAh, but with the power usage of the
DNA being so efficient, I have noticed a very long battery
life out of the FZ-Mini.
As for the actual DNA 20 chip, its simplicity puts
other advanced personal vaporizers (APV’s) to shame.
the DNA20 works similar to an eGo battery. Five-clicks
on and five-clicks off. When you “turn on” or unlock the
device, you are ready to go. everything you would ever
want to know is right there on the DNA-20 screen. No
more menus! the screen displays your wattage setting
as the larger number, while also having the resistance
(ohm) of the “topper” you have on the device next to
it. When you actually fire the device it shows you below
the resistance reading what voltage is being pushed to
your topper of choice. Honestly, that stuff doesn’t really
matter. I usually tell people who are new wattage device
users to just move the wattage up or down based on how
its tastes to you. Is it a little burnt? Give it a few clicks
down. A little weak? It’s as simple as a couple of clicks
up. the FZ-Mini is laid out to allow you to be able to adjust to taste in an instant.
As you can see, a DNA 20 device is a very simple yet
complex device. Simple in the aspect of being able to
“set it and forget it” and complex because it is a “newer”
technology for most vapers. I have found that new technology generally scares people away, but this is something that you should not pass on.
My time with my FZ-Mini has been absolutely fantastic. It has become my all-day device demoting my
Provaris and mechanical mods to the vape shelf. I have
personally been getting anywhere from one to two days
of usage off one charge with
varied wattages for different
“toppers.” I have used the
FZ-Mini with many different
topper with each performing very well. Some of my
favorite setups were: with a
protank set to 7.0 watts. this
setup worked flawless and
because it was at such a low
wattage I got an extremely
long battery life for a 1900
mAh battery. My second
favorite setup was a Grand
Vapor trident dripping atomizer using dual coils at about
.9 ohms set to 15 watts. this
setup gave me amazing performance with the security
of knowing if anything goes
wrong, the DNA-20 will shut
itself down unlike the current
trend of low ohm unregulated vaping. I even enjoyed
it with a simple atomizer to
taste new e-liquids. At the
price point of $200, it is a
large purchase, but I feel like
this device will be versatile
enough that it will be all I
need in vaping for a long,
long time.
If you are interested in
the FZ-Mini or want to check out other mod’s Olmstead makes, check out www.fazedboxmods.com.

Juices are rated on a scale of 1-5 based on flavor, vapor production and throat-hit.
CLEVER VAPE’S BROOKLYN POP
Clever Vape’s Brooklyn Pop, presented in a glass eye dropper bottle with an eye-catching label, won me over before
I even tasted the juice. I am a sucker for unique labeling and packaging and Clever Juice has provided a strong case
in this area. Brooklyn Pop, true to its description, is a refreshing cola juice with a subtle black cherry tone. It tastes
fresh and light and may become a staple in my juice rotation.Vapor clouds were gorgeous and satisfying on this
50/50 mix while throat hit was above average. You can grab a 30ml bottle for $14.99 or flavor boost it for an
additional $4 at clevervape.com.
VAPE VERDICT = 4.6
Flavor=5, Vapor=5, Throat Hit=4
FLUID’S TANGSICLE
Fluid’s Tangsicle is a tasty orange dreamsicle juice that is more reminiscent of Hi-C than Tang with a cream accent
on the backend, most noticeably on the exhale. If you like orange this juice is pretty tasty. Some folks at the table
found the orange a little overpowering while others found it spot on in terms of its name and description. Our tester
bottle was a 50/50 mix of PG/VG and vapor clouds were large and chewy. T hroat hit was average. A 30ml bottle
costs $15.99 and vapers can select PG/VG mix or add menthol at no additional cost at fluidvaper.com.
VAPE VERDICT = 4.0
Flavor=4, Vapor=5, Throat Hit=3
FANCEEJUICE’S CLOUDARITA
It took a little bit of vaping and some at the table never got it, but this juice does taste exactly like a lime
margarita. The flavor is there, but at first it was a little faint. Toward the end we could nearly taste the salt on the
end of the drip tip. This was an overall very tasty juice and receives high marks in the flavor category. Vapor
production was stellar with voluminous clouds pouring from a fresh cartomizer. The only area it was average in was
throat hit. On their website vaper scan select cloudiness, (PG/VG mix) and they also offer a margarita box where
you can get a big juic e of Cloudarita and blueberry, lime, watermelon, strawberry and mango mixers to mix a perfect
margarita in the atomizer.FanceeJuicetouts their juice as premium e-liquid, and it costs $20.99 for a 30ml bottle.

AVAIL’S PIÑA COLADA
If you like Piña Colada and getting caught in the rain … I can’t recommend getting it from Avail. This juice tastes like
it’s large batch created, rebranded and resold. In a word, it’s gross. It only tasted marginally like coconut to one
person at the table while others mentioned that it was unvapeable. Vapor production is average and we cannot say
why as the bottle did not represent the mix of PG and VG. Throat hit was nonexistent. Their site currently is in
launch status and has no pricing information. But, you can view their other juices, which are hopefully better, at
availvapor.com
VAPE VERDICT = 1.6
Flavor=1, Vapor=3, Throat Hit=1
VAPOR SHARK’S ICE TART
Vapor Shark’s Ice Tart is a mentholated Pixie Stix juice. The jury is out on this one as the menthol is not very fresh
or crisp and fades very quickly while the Pixie Stix flavor is very muted. Vapor production is average and the bottle
did not represent the mix of PG and VG. Throathit was average for a mentholated juice. While vapers can choose
the level of nicotine on the site it does not appear you can select the mix of PG/VG. A 30ml bottle is approximately
$14.99 and is sold at vaporshark.com.
VAPE VERDICT = 3.0

VOOPING NOT POOPING

which we live. These are not necessarly those men. They're Dude and Bro, and they're Vooping NOT Pooping...

The Genesis style atomizers are
known to many as the "cream of
the crop" in the vaping world due
to the amazing flavor and big
clouds they can produce. With that
comes the rumored terrors of
building coils, leaking tanks and
dry wicks.
The Rebuildable Stainless Steel
Tank (RSST) is the light at the end
of the tunnel for novice and
experienced vapers alike.
It's not only easy to set up, but
has all of the features vapers could
want in their first rebuildable,
including:
An insulated wick hole to stop
vapers from shorting out the coil
on their decks.
A plastic tank that can take a fair
amount of abuse compared to
glass, which most Gennys come
with.
A spring kept positive post
connection, so vapers do not bend
wicks when finishing their coil.
The RSST from
SmokTech is a great
way to take the dive
into the world of
rebuildable atomizers,
and for approximately
$30 vapers are not
breaking the bank to
break new ground on
exploration to find
the perfect vape.
"VapeBash, where do I begin?
First thing that comes to mind is
"EPIC" I mean so many amazing
people, tons of vaping gear and
E-Liquids, the reviewers we all
watch via YouTube, the hosts of
our favorite vaping networks, our
favorite modders and devices. I
mean it's on the verge of vaper
overload! All that being said, the
best part for me was finally
meeting some of the people that
I interact with through the web.
The only thing I regret is not
having enough time to spend
with everyone, but
hey, there's always next year!

"VapeBash was a fantastic success. As far as I can tell, there were
more vapers in attendance than any other large meet. The list of
vendors was impressive and the room accommodated everyone
well. The Windy City Vapers did an amazing job and their
dedication shows in the level of organization they bring to these
meets- registration table, etc. Completely outside of their control
was the way the hotel changed their stance on vaping midway
through the event. That was disappointing. Of course, that is
nothing to dwell on. WCV hit a home run!"
Keith Mautner talks about his
products at VapeBash 2:
"We are the inventors of the
infamous Drip Shield. We also
came out with the Empire Mod,
a telescoping bottom button
tube device which made in very
limited runs. We have been
selling them and they utilize the
901 atomizer standard native
connection. We have a premium
901 made for them and comes
with them as well which is well
known for great flavor and
vapor production. The drip
shield was made around the
901 atomizer but also will work
for 510 and 306 with a 510-510
sealed adapter or raised
connection like a eGo battery."
" Generally, I am positive about the entire industry's future. I
believe there will be regulation, but it will be somewhat reasonable
and malleable. Vapers need to be vocal and refuse to be classified
into an existing bucket- this is new territory and with that comes
uncertainty. But generally, I am quite positive. On a more micro
level, I see a return to more mechanical mods with an emphasis on
rebuilding coils- within the community, of course. E-cigs can be
found all over our town now- from the grocery store to the gas
station. Sure, they aren't what I vape but who knows- that will
slowly evolve as well." - Adam Knudsen

"I thought
VapeBash was
incredible, I did
attend last

definitely 3
times the size!
I have 2
partners in
Honest Vapor,
my boyfriend
Luciano
Manente ,who
is also the sole
owner of the
largest Vaping

and his sister, Rosanna Manente. We are an online store
and hope to have a brick and mortar store before our 2nd
Anniversary of HonestVapor. What separates us from
other vendors, aside from the fact that our juice is made in
a sterile lab (which is SLOWLY becoming more common) is
the fact that our bottling and packaging not only meet but
EXCEED the standards of what is expected from an ejuice
company. As well as the fact that our liquid is made with
much attention to detail and only the top quality
ingredients are used to create each and every one of my
flavors."
MORE QUOTES
"VapeBash was Amazing! Great People and tons of them
Over 1600 in Attendance! I met lots of great friends and
met many of our existing customers." - Jason Cornfeld,
President of ElectronicStix Corp.
"Vapebash 2 was a great experience for me in general.
This was my first actual Vape Meet that I attended. All of
the fellow Vapers I meet were very nice and really seemed
to be enjoying themselves at the meet. I am a
blogger/reviewer of sorts and also host a weekly spot on
VapeTv.com (9pm PST Fridays) and I had many people
come up and say high and also thank me for my YouTube
videos (youtube.com/crashvapes). I got to meet Mike
from houseofhybrids.com (Zen) and that made me very
happy. I am a hybrid Genesis style vaper and without him
we may not be vaping the way we do because he really
was one of if not the first guy to make a Genesis style
device publicly available." - James “Crash” Vapes
"Vapebash 2013 was truly an event to set the bar for
next year! Being in the business for over 4 years this
years Vapebash was the biggest. As a business owner
and has attended previous vaping events, this hands
done was not only the best, but done 100% perfectly.
The WCVC crew organized and ran the event without a
hitch! The only thing I regret is that we have to wait
another year for vapebash 2014! Vapebash and other
vaping events help my business by getting us not only to
promote in states and locations we may not be known,
but to also get to meet our online customers face to face.
Which honestly meeting your customers is one of the
highlights of this business." - Chris Ray, founder/owner
of Cigtechs
"We were blown away from the turn out this year, HUGE
jump from the 600 they had last year. Events like Bash
allow us to talk to customers who we normally only
interact on line with. We like the pre event gatherings
because as a vendor its our chance to hang out with
everyone and not be behind our table." - NatureVaper
RIGHT: "VapeBash was an amazing experience
for the Mister-E-Team. We all had a wonderful
time and meeting all the wonderful vapers at
Bash was out of this world. There were so
many people! We released a new juice called
Blue Voodoo which became very popular as we
sold out, in a matter of hours the first day.
Apparently the Vapebash released Blue Voodoo,
was so popular that a customer came up to us
on day 2 and discretely showed us his 36ml
bottle, (which was already half gone)
mentioning he was worried about getting
jumped if someone saw the bottle of delicious
blue juice! " - Dan Lawitzke, Mister-E-Liquid

NEW YORK CITY ORDINANCE WOULD BAN FLAVORED E-CIGS
About 40 vapers met outside of the city council building in downtown Manhattan. Some were
holding signs as a peaceful protest for NYC's consideration for banning flavored juice. About 10
vapers testified before the council members. Spike BaRBAIAN from The National Vapers Club
and Greg Conley, an attorney with CASAA played a big part in getting all this together.
New York City has introduced ordinances to ban flavored e-cigarettes, define e-cigarettes as
tobacco products, require tobacco licensing, and ban the public display of e-cigarettes and smokeless
tobacco (Int 1020-2013 and Int 1021-2013).
On May 2, 2013, members of the New York City Council's Health Committee heard testimony from
twenty harm reduction advocates. CASAA Legislative Director Gregory Conley testified on behalf of
CASAA.
Early in the hearing, a representative from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
clarified that they had no intention of trying to regulate electronic cigarettes. There appeared to be a
great willingness on the part of the Department of Health and the members of the New York City
Council to amend the ordinances so that they would not impact e-cigarettes.
If enacted, these ordinances would:
Redefine "tobacco products" under New York City law to include e-cigarettes and related
components, parts, and accessories (both ordinances)
Ban the display of e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco in retail stores. (Int 1020-2013)
Ban the sale of e-cigarettes or e-liquid in flavors other than tobacco, menthol, mint and wintergreen in areas other than an agerestricted "tobacco bar." New York City law prohibits "tobacco bars" that were not open in 2001, and thus even an e-cigarette
store in New York City would be prohibited from selling flavored e-cigarettes. (Int 1021-2013)
Mandate that e-cigarette products and parts, components, and accessories only be sold in their original packaging. (Int 1021-2013)
These ordinances only apply to New York City.
SOUTH CAROLINA BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN E-CIGARETTES
The South Carolina House Ways & Means Committee met Tuesday, May 28, to discuss and possibly vote on H. 4074.
If enacted, this bill would:
Tax sales of e-cigarette products containing nicotine ("vapor products") at 5 cents per milliliter of liquid.
Require e-cigarette retailers who import nicotine-containing products from other states to obtain a license to sell tobacco products
and abide by lengthy regulations.
Make it a criminal offense for consumers to buy untaxed e-cigarettes online unless they file a tax return with the South Carolina
Department of Revenue by the 20th of each month.
At an earlier committee hearing on the bill the RJ Reynolds VP of Public Affairs spoke to the legislators. One of our biggest
concerns about this legislation is that it is a part of a demonstrated pattern by R.J. Reynolds to get bills introduced in state
legislatures (including RI, NC, and OK) that seek to give the e-cigarette industry to large tobacco companies. The three major
tobacco companies -- Philip Morris (PM), Reynolds, and Lorillard -- already have contracts with all licensed tobacco retailers for sales,
prime display shelf space, discounts, advertisements and promotions -- while very few e-cigarette companies do.
The outcome of the meeting wasn’t known at the time we went to press. For more information check out the Consumer
Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association at www.casaa.org. The entire bill is available at www.scstatehouse.gov.
