HOW TO REGISTER FOR OUR CAMPS:
The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is dedicated to building
a team of full-time camping professionals and seasonal
staff who are dedicated to creating safe, fun and
memorable camping experiences. At the YMCA of
Simcoe/Muskoka, we pride ourselves in hiring the
most qualified camp staff. Seasonal staff hold current
First Aid and CPR certification and have been trained
in risk management, healthy childhood development
and are skilled in serving the variety of populations we
welcome. All lifeguards hold current National Lifeguard
Service qualifications. In addition, our outtripping staff
hold Wilderness First Aid Certification.

debit, cheque, Visa or MC.

Barrie YMCA Day Camps
FAMILY COMMUNICATION:
Open communication is just as important to the YMCA of Simcoe/
Muskoka as the delivery of high quality camp experiences. For that
reason, we strive to communicate with families before and after every
session. At the end of the first day of each week, we send home a weekly
newslettter outlining all of the weeks information; outtrip information,
special guests, weeks highlights, and tips on being safe at camp. If you
have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your camp staff
team. All contact information will be listed on the newsletter.
EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM:
Innisfil and South Simcoe
Day Camps
Collingwood and
Wasaga Beach Day Camps
Gravenhurst and
Orillia Day Camps
Each location offers extended care from 7:00-8:30am and 4:30-6:00pm;
each of these options cost $20.00 for the week.
THE YMCA CAMPER CODE OF CONDUCT:
One of the goals of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Day Camps is to
provide healthy, safe and secure environments for campers. To help
ensure this goal is met, campers are expected to follow the YMCA
Code of Conduct and to interact appropriately. Our Code of Conduct
is based on our five YMCA Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect,
Responsibility and Inclusiveness.
As a camper, I pledge that:

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS:
Requests for refunds of paid camp fees must be made at least
7 days prior to the camp week commencing in order for a refund to
be considered.

Cancellation requests made less than 7 days prior to the camp week
must have an attached medical note in order to obtain a refund.
Refunds will not be issued in an instance where the participant is removed
from the camp program at the choice or request of the participant or
participant’s parent/guardian or due to behavioural issues.
Camps may be canceled due to low registration. If this is the case, you
will be given a call at least 2 weeks ahead of time to choose a different
camp option for that week.

The YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka Summer
Day Camp Program works to promote
and facilitate full inclusion in camp
activities by providing opportunities for
additional support to ensure your child
experiences success at camp. As well,
YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka Day Camps
aim to help all campers develop to their
fullest potential and gain the necessary
skills and abilities to maintain a healthy
and active participation in leisure and
recreation activities.
WHAT SERVICES ARE OFFERED
The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Day Camps is pleased to provide
additional support service to campers with special needs, whether
it is developmental, physical, cognitive, emotional or behavior. Our
Day Camps Inclusion Counsellors may assist in 1:1 or 2:1 settings to
provide the necessary support your camper may require to have
a successful camp experience. Our counsellors are trained with
strategies to ensure camper safety while facilitating participation in
camp activities, redirecting behaviors as needed, provide necessary
breaks (whether sensory, emotional, etc.) and providing personal
care assistance.
INCLUSION OPTIONS:
Transition Week: The YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka can provide a 1:1 or 2:1
Inclusion Support Counsellor who will work directly with the camper(s)
in our Day Camps. The cost of the support counsellor is covered by
the YMCA for one week per summer per camper. Registration opens
November 1st and spaces for this program are limited.
AIR COUNSELLOR (ACCESSIBLE INCLUSIVE RECREATION):
you may hire a YMCA inclusion counsellor in a 1:1 setting at the cost
of $360/week
ADDITIONAL MEDIATOR SUPPORT: the YMCA is pleased to
welcome any additional support workers into the camp environment,
should you request it. All external support workers need a current
Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening in order to
attend camp with your child.

Program Descriptions
Please note: not all programs are offered at each location; please refer to your
communities’ program schedule in this guide to determine availability in your community
CAMP EXPLORERS (6-8 YRS)
Explorers will participate in classic camp games, swimming, active games, crafts
and have a weekly special event of field trip. This camp is for the kids who want a
little bit of everything.
CAMP TRAILBLAZERS (9-12 YRS)
Trailblazers’ camp will allow campers to learn and develop confidence and help
to increase their self-esteem through the daily camp activities. Trailblazers will be
exposed to more skill based activities and have some choices throughout the week
through our Campers Choice program to select activities and skills that they would
like to develop. Swimming, team sports, water activities, daily outdoor exploring,
weekly special events or field trip, and crafts are just some of the programs that
may take place over the week.
*ARTRAGIOUS CAMP (6-8 & 9-12 YRS)
Artragious Camp gives budding artists the opportunity to study and experiment
in a variety of artistic mediums. Your artist will try their hands at such things as
sculpture, painting, printmaking, clay, pastels and drawing. Campers will create
and take home a variety of mixed-media projects. Traditional camp activities such
as swimming and outdoor games will also be included throughout the day.
*The Barrie and Midland Artragious programs are in partnership with the MacLaren Art Centre and
Quest Art respectively.
HORSE CAMP (8-14 YRS)
In partnership with Lonesome Acres Stables, your opportunities including
grooming, theory instruction and riding. Traditional camp activities such as crafts
and swimming will take place at the YMCA each afternoon.
BALL HOCKEY (6-8 & 9-12 YRS)
In partnership with Orillia Ball Hockey League (OBHL) your camper will learn a
variety of Ball Hockey skills, proper stretching, warm up techniques, sportsmanship,
and True Sport Code of Conduct.
An exciting finale to each camp week will be Friday Game Day when your camper
will be able to participate in a full game and show off some of his or her new
found skills. Family members are welcome to pay a visit to cheer the campers on!
Traditional camp activities such as swimming and outdoor games will take place
in the afternoon back at the YMCA.
ADVENTURE CAMP (6-8 YRS & 9-12 YRS)
Our Adventure Camp is based out of the beautiful YMCA Geneva Park. Campers
are split into age groups and participate in a full day of outdoor programming;
swimming in Lake Couchiching, outdoor exploring, team building, crafts, field
games, canoeing, special events & guests, hikes & more. On Thursday during weeks
2,5 & 7, a one night sleepover option is available.

BASKETBALL CAMP (6-8 & 9-12 YRS)
Campers will develop fundamental basketball skills through both individual and
team drills. Emphasis on fun, fitness, fundamentals, fair play and friends. Camp days
will also include a variety of traditional camp activities such as swimming, team
building and other outdoor activities.
Program Descriptions
SOCCER CAMP (6-8 & 9-12 YRS)
Campers will develop fundamental soccer skills through both individual and team drills. Emphasis on fun, fitness, fundamentals, fair play and
friends. Camp days will also include a variety of traditional camp activities such as swimming, team building and other outdoor activities.
TRIATHALON CAMP (6-8 & 9-12 YRS)
Triathlon Camp has been designed to help campers develop skills in swimming, biking and running in a fun and safe camp environment
using games, team challenges, relays and more. Campers will learn a variety of physical skills alongside of bike safety, warm ups, stretching
and healthy food choices. On the Friday, the campers will participate in “Tri @ GP”, a timed event where the campers will put their skills to test.
LEADERSHIP CAMP (13-16 YRS)
A three week leadership program that focuses on building young people into leaders. The leaders will be expected to help plan a theme day
and also volunteer with the younger age groups. This camp is great for teens ready to take a step to becoming a leader in their community.
VOLLEYBALL CAMP (8-12 YRS)
In partnership with Sandzone, campers will do a half day of volleyball skills and drills on the outdoor sand courts. In the afternoon they will
do traditional camp activities such as swimming and games.
NEW DISCOVERIES (6-8 YRS)
Set in the beautiful backdrop of Springwater Provincial Park, this is a traditional camp experience in a great new setting. Campers will get
to experience nature activities, arts and crafts, sports, songs and games. With the time outdoors, kids will get to explore nature and learn
to love it. Each week will include a trip to a local beach for swimming.
YOUNG NATURALIST (9-12 YRS)
At Springwater Provincial Park, this camp is building on campers’ interest in the outdoors. It will focus on nature based programming with
traditional camp activities throughout the day. This older age group of campers will have more freedom to delve into programs that excite
them. Each week will include a trip to a local beach for swimming.

Since 1910, YMCA Geneva Park has provided an idyllic setting
for children, youth and families to grow in spirit, mind and body.
Located on Lake Couchiching, Geneva Park offers youth and
family programs throughout the summer, focusing on leadership
development, water-based programs, creative arts, tennis and
environmental awareness.
ADULT YOGA
YOGA AND RELAXATION RETREAT
Located at Geneva Park, this is the ultimate weekend for rest and
relaxation. Our certified yoga instructors and program staff aid
participants in relaxing, rejuvenating and connecting. Participants
choose from many different yoga and meditation classes as
well as art and other physical challenges like rock climbing and
hiking. No experience is required. This weekend on beautiful Lake
Couchiching will be a relaxing change from your regular routine.

FAMILY CAMP JUNE 18 - SEPT 3
For 100 years, families have been spending quality time together
while enjoying YMCA Geneva Park’s beautiful setting and valuesbased programs and activities. Summer Family Program offers
traditional camp programs designed with families in mind. While
you are here, you can partake in canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing,
swimming, crafts, nature activities, archery, tennis, stand up paddling,
sailing, fitness classes, music lessons and rock climbing. In the
evenings, gather round the campfire for a sing-along, bring out the
family for a game of soccer, or meet up in Copeland Hall for Bingo!
Need some time to relax and do your own thing? We have a variety
of children’s programs offered throughout the day. Our caring
Children’s Program staff offer age-appropriate programming for 3-5
year olds in the morning, and 6-17 year olds in the afternoon.
WINTERLUDE DEC 29 - JAN 1
Experience an annual tradition that offers family and friends three
days of Fun and Activity in a beautiful, natural, winter wonderland.
Winterlude at YMCA Geneva Park is an all inclusive experience
offering ample indoor and outdoor activities for all ages including
New Year’s Eve Celebrations for children, youth and adults.
Family and friends return year after year to spend quality time
together while enjoying the beautiful winter atmosphere.

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka offers youth leadership programs at YMCA Geneva Park. Participants will live, learn and have fun in our
Leadership Development Program. The YMCA Youth Leadership experience provides youth with a great opportunity to meet new people,
develop individual and group skills and build confidence in a safe, inclusive environment. In partnership with the Simcoe County District
School Board we are excited to be offering a Secondary School Credit with our Young and Advanced Leader programs.
YOUNG LEADERS (15 - 16 YRS)
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CAMPS
JUNIOR LEADERS (13 - 14 YRS)
Located at YMCA Geneva Park, this overnight summer leadership
program offers youth 13-14 (having completed Grade 7 or 8
an introduction to leadership programs. They will learn about
teamwork, self-awareness, self-esteem, the value of volunteering
and participate in a canoe trip.
Fee: $640
ADVANCED LEADERS (16 - 17 YRS)
In conjunction with the Simcoe County District School Board,
YMCA Geneva Park offers students an opportunity to earn a high
school physical education credit (Healthy Active Living - Outdoor
Education PAD30) here at camp. This program focuses on hard
skills like canoeing, sailing and rock climbing as well as soft skills
like problem solving, communication and decision making. The
program includes a 5-day canoe trip, first aid/CPR training, lifesaving
training (bronze medallion/cross) and the afore-mentioned school
credit (not to mention loads of fun and lifelong friendships).
Fee: $2,150
Located at YMCA Geneva Park, this program is designed to provide
a challenging and personally rewarding leadership development
opportunity, exploring topics like how to trust and be trusted, service,
goal setting, and event planning. Advanced Leaders work with Geneva
Park staff to create and deliver camp programming for family camp
participants. Over the four weeks, the Advanced Leaders can earn
a Grade 11 Ontario Secondary School Credit (Leadership and Peer
Support GPP3O) offered by the Simcoe County District School Board,
participate in Bronze Medallion/Cross lifesaving lessons, standard first
aid with CPR C and experience a 5-day canoe trip.
Fee: $2,150

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
• All deposits are non-refundable after May 1, 2016.
• Written cancellations prior to May 1, 2016 are permitted. Applicants
will receive a full refund, less an administrative fee of $200.
• Cancellations after May 1, 2016 will be granted for medical
reasons only. To qualify for a full refund (less an administrative
fee) a Medical Certificate must accompany written notice of
cancellation. No refund of any amount will be granted for
non-medical cancellations received on or after May 1, 2016.
• Refunds will not be issued in an instance where the participant
is removed from the camp program at the choice or request
of the participant or participant’s parent/guardian or due to
behavioural issues.
• The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka reserves the right to cancel
registration if the camper’s medical information is not completed
and if the authorization is not signed by the parent/guardian
and returned to the YMCA Camping Office prior to the
commencement of the camp session.

Over 95 years of traditional
overnight camp experiences
on Georgian Bay.
Since 1919, YMCA Camp Kitchikewana has been serving children
from the Simcoe/Muskoka area and beyond. An accredited
member of the Ontario Camps Association, Kitchi is a skillsbased camp with a focus on water-based activities, creative arts,
environmental awareness and aboriginal history. Kitchi is uniquely
located on Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay Islands National Park.
With clean water, sandy beaches and access to over 22 kilometres
of well-maintained hiking trails, YMCA Camp Kitchikewana is
perfect for exploring and educating children about the natural
world. Campers have the opportunity to take CYA sailing levels,
ORCKA canoe and kayak levels, YMCA swimming levels, and
Lifesaving Society levels while at camp, as well as performance arts,
arts and crafts, archery and guitar lessons. Campers stay in recently
rebuilt cabins with a minimum of two counsellors and a support
staff team that is committed to a “camper first” environment.
REACH FOR THE RAINBOW
Reach for the Rainbow is a unique organization which allows
children with disabilities to take part in summer camp programs
throughout Ontario. Reach for the Rainbow provides training for
the camp staff team, consultation with parents and campers, and
a support system for each child’s camp experience. YMCA Camp
Kitchikewana is proud to be in partnership with Reach for the
Rainbow. Applications for campers with special needs must be
processed through the Reach for the Rainbow office in Toronto.

KITCHI OPEN-HOUSE JUNE 18 & 19, 2016
Please join us in June for YMCA Camp Kitchikewana’s annual
open-house. This event gives campers and parents the
opportunity to connect with the camp and to begin preparations
for the summer season. During each of the two days, Camp
Kitchi staff and management will be available to provide
site tours and to answer any questions relating to your
child’s stay at YMCA Camp Kitchikewana. To attend
our open-house, please call the YMCA Camp Office
(705) 325-2253 to schedule your boat transportation time.
Pick-up and drop-off for this event is at the Honey Harbour
Boat Club.

WATERBUG CLUB (6-9 YRS)
A perfect introduction to camp life for first time campers! The
Waterbug Club program places special emphasis on creativity,
developing friendships and having fun. During the week-long
program, staff introduce campers to traditional programs, land
and water activities, games and sing-songs. Waterbug Club
campers participate in a different skill area each day – preparing
them for choosing skill area specialties when they return to Kitchi
for the Traditional two-week camp experience. The Waterbug Club
is an exciting way to start your child’s summer camp experience.
Fee: $855
TRADITIONAL CAMP (7-14 YRS)
Our Traditional two-week co-ed camps are divided according to
age and gender. Each section offers a blend of skill instruction,
interest groups (Power Play!), cabin choice, section programs,
all-camp activities and outdoor pursuits (Out Trips). Special
programs such as the Lumberman and Voyageur Games, Kitchi
Olympics, our 4th session Annual Musical and Sailing Regattas
assist in creating a well-rounded camp experience.
Fee: $1,500
SAILING CAMP (12-14 YRS)
Participants will take part in extensive sailing lessons with a focus
on racing and will have exposure to different types of sailboats
and teaching practices. Campers will participate in most aspects
of traditional camp programming. The highlight of this program is
a sail around the south end of Beausoleil Island.
Fee: $1,570
LEADERSHIP ONE* (15 YRS)
Leadership One is the first stage in the YMCA’s residential camp
leadership program. This program provides opportunities for
participants to build self-esteem and experience personal growth.
This four-week experience focuses on skill development, personal
leadership and communication. Participants will learn the
fundamentals of trip leadership planning through participation
in a five-day canoe trip. Program participants will also focus on
advanced skill development in one of Sailing (CANSail 3 or 4),
Canoeing (Lakewater 1), or Lifesaving (Bronze Medallion or Bronze
Cross). Leadership One participants will also have the opportunity
to obtain a secondary school credit from certified teachers onsite
(Outdoor Education, PAD30) in partnership with the Simcoe/
Muskoka Catholic District School Board.

LEADERSHIP TWO* (16 YRS)
Leadership Two program has an overall focus on positive
community involvement. Some of the topics covered in the
program include group dynamics, instructional techniques,
counseling skills, camper characteristics and local heritage.
A series of placements will allow participants to practice their skills
and leadership styles under the supervision of experienced camp
staff. Leadership Two participants will also have the opportunity
to obtain a secondary school credit from certified teachers onsite
(Leadership and Peer Support, GPP30) in partnership with the
Simcoe/Muskoka Catholic District School Board.

TRANSPORTATION POLICY
All Campers must arrive and depart by bus or private boat
transportation. Program participants travelling from destinations
north of Honey Harbour may be granted an exception to this
policy by contacting the YMCA Camp Kitchikewana Office.
Supervised bus service is available with pick-up and drop-off
points at the following locations:
• Barrie YMCA (22 Grove Street West)
• Collingwood YMCA (200 Hume Street)
• Midland YMCA (560 Little Lake Park Road)
• Orillia YMCA (300 Peter Street North)
• LEON’s Vaughan Hwy 400 and Bass Pro Mills Drive
Airport pick-up and drop-off service is available at a cost of
$150.00 (round trip). Please contact the YMCA for additional
information or to arrange this service. A complete transportation
guide will be mailed upon registration.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (17+ YRS)
Youth will assist in the operation of the camp by volunteering their
time to support the camp’s maintenance, food service and children’s
program areas. Admission to this week long program requires a
cover letter outlining why you would like to be a volunteer at Kitchi,
along with a resume discussing your work and volunteer experience.
Applicants will also be interviewed by camp administration to ensure
they are the right fit for the program. Although this program is open
to all ages 17 & up (turning 17 in 2016), priority admission will be
given to high school students as this is a great opportunity to obtain
the required 40 hours of community service. Please send your cover

Please note that the buses will only wait for 15 minutes for late
arrivals. Beyond this time, the bus will leave and it is the responsibility
of the parent to provide transportation to camp. Please contact the
camp office at (705) 756-4002 if you are running late.
For parents of campers in the Waterbug program, please be
advised that due to the small numbers in the program, some
buses may be cancelled. Should this occur the camp will contact
you with alternate arrangements.
CABIN MATE REQUESTS
YMCA Camp Kitchikewana will make every effort to accommodate
one mutual cabin request per participant. Cabin requests
should also not be greater than a one year age gap (ie. a 9 year old
can only request an 8 or 10 year old). In order to promote positive
cabin cohesion, YMCA Camp Kitchikewana is unable to honour
multiple cabin requests.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
• A $400 deposit is required with each registration.
• All deposits are non-refundable after May 1, 2016.
• Written cancellations prior to May 1, 2016 are permitted. Applicants
will receive a full refund, less an administrative fee of $200.
• Cancellations after May 1, 2016 will be granted for medical
reasons only. To qualify for a full refund (less an administrative
fee) a Medical Certificate must accompany written notice of
cancellation. No refund of any amount will be granted for
non-medical cancellations received on or after May 1, 2016.
• Refunds will not be issued in an instance where the participant
is removed from the camp program at the choice or request
of the participant or participant’s parent/guardian or due to
behavioural issues.
• The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka reserves the right to cancel
registration if the camper’s medical information is not
completed and if the authorization is not signed by the parent/
guardian and returned to the YMCA Camping Office prior to the
commencement of the camp session.

SENIOR WOMEN ON THE MOVE PROGRAM SEPT 6-9
This adult program combines recreation, fitness, personal
challenge, group activities, relaxation and fun! Seniors reside in
the Treasure Leadership Lodge and camper cabins. Participants
must be 55 years or older.
Fee: $175
WOMEN’S WELLNESS WEEKEND SEPT 16 - 18
This program is specially designed to provide a relaxing environment
which promotes the development of spirit, mind and body. Staff
and a variety of guest programmers will offer workshops, fitness
classes and activities specifically for women. Massage therapy and
aesthetician services are available (additional fees apply).

COUNTDOWN TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY:
40s/50s/60s/70s ALUMNI REUNION SEPT 23 - 25
Were you a Kitchi Camper, Kitchi Staff Member, or Kitchi Friend
in the 40s, 50s, 60s or 70s?? If so then please join us at camp for
a weekend celebrating Kitchi’s 100-year history! The weekend
will be packed with traditional camp activities and recreational
opportunities. Options available include hikes, canoeing, kayaking,
sailing, swimming and traditional campfires. You can register
individually or with your spouse, and can request to share a cabin
with other alumni attending the event. Don’t miss the perfect
opportunity for alumni and friends to reconnect with Kitchi and
celebrate its 100-year legacy! Please refer to page 3 in guide
to register.
Please note that an additional 13% HST will be applied to all programs at YMCA Camp Kitchikewana. A $400.00 deposit is required with all applications.

or video of the persons named on the application form for its
promotional program and social media.
PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOSS AND THEFT
YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is not responsible for any loss or theft of a
participant’s belongings or money. Parents/guardians will be responsible
for reimbursement of any willful destruction to site and/or equipment,
including graffiti, incurred as a result of their child’s actions.
PROGRAM EXPULSION
Intentional participant behaviour that puts the participant or others at
physical or emotional risk may result in immediate dismissal from the
program. In addition, consumption or possession of alcohol, tobacco
products, weapons and illegal or harmful substances will result in
immediate dismissal from the program. Any expenses incurred because
of program dismissal will be the responsibility of the participant/
parent/guardian. Parents/guardians or a suitable designate must be
available to pick up participants should the participant be dismissed
from his/her program. No refund will be given to campers leaving
camp prior to the end of the session due to disciplinary action.
SPONSORSHIP APPLICATIONS
Through gifts made to our Annual Giving Campaign and we are able
to provide sponsorship for Day Camp, YMCA Camp Kitchikewana,
YMCA Geneva Park to campers whose families cannot afford the
full cost of camp. Sponsorship Application forms are available by
contacting the Camp Office and will be accepted on or before May 1,
2016. Completed applications should be returned to the YMCA Camp
Office and will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.
OUT OF PROVINCE LEADERSHIP PARTICIPANTS
Please note there may be additional fees for leadership participants
wishing to achieve high school credits at Geneva Park and
Camp Kitchikewana.
