PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hey folks, hope all are well, staying warm and enduring this unruly winter we have had so far. And by that I mean,
having to wear long pants instead of shorts and maybe a spring jacket instead of a t-shirt. Is it really February? From
a guy who loves snowmobiling this has been an awful winter. To most others I talk to, it has been glorious! If I can’t
have snow, then can I at least have more daylight? We have only used the 1946 Ford Marmon Harrington 4x4 dump
truck to plow once, a measly 10” in Andover that I’m pretty sure melted as fast as it came.
We had a nice meeting at Harold’s shop in January, seeing some good friends and meeting new friends. Many things
were discussed at the last meeting as you’ll see in the minutes but I want to drive home the point that we have the
potential at our fingertips for some serious club growth with a little bit of effort. As the schedule of events comes
out in this newsletter along with events from other clubs, people are starting to mark their calendars with events they
will plan to attend. Showing some club participation in some of the local car shows, truck shows, and other events
for like-minded individuals will help to get our name out. I am working on the social media side which has passed
the 255 followers mark. If a few members want to get together and go to an event, let me know and we will set you
up with some newsletters, magazines, and other propaganda to help get our name out there. Cruise nights are great
for that as well. If you can’t attend an event but feel it has great potential for meeting people, let us know and we’ll
find someone to attend for sure!
Speaking of events, before we know it our own truck show will be upon us. Sadly, I will be unable to attend this
year. It will be the first time I have missed a show in a long time. I would change my prior engagement, except that
my engagement to my fiancé would likely become null and void. Courtney and I will be on our honeymoon during
that day so I’m hoping someone can send me pictures long distance. Our Brooklyn Show has been a great event for
many years, long before I was here and I have full faith in our team that this year will be no different. That said, if you
have any ideas or suggestions, let us know as we always strive to improve. Most importantly, if we have any
connections at the weather station to influence the weather, you need to stand up now. Please and Thank you!
Next meeting will be at Pfahl’s Mack and Antique Truck Restoration in Bethlehem, CT which was a big hit last year. I
highly recommend that you all attend to see the beautiful work that is accomplished there. Take a look at the MayJune newsletter from last year for some good pictures. Also, bring a few bucks as we are now going to be running a
50/50 raffle at each meeting. You buy a raffle ticket and the winning number gets half the pot and the club gets the
other half. There is no obligation to buy, just a fun and friendly way to fund-raise a few bucks to support the club.
That’s all for now, see you in March!
-Jonathan Yeomans
Directions to March 13, 2016 Meeting at Pfahl’s Antique Truck Restoration located at 73 East Street, Route 132 in Bethlehem,
CT (203-266-6455)
Members are asked to bring a snack or dessert to share with fellow members. Matt will provide the rest including beverages.
Take a scenic drive to Bethlehem, check your map or GPS to get directions from your home.
Consider car-pooling with a fellow Chapter member or guest. Come early to see antique trucks and buses being restored and
look at Matt’s memorabilia. Wear your 4 x 4 boots as the “bone yard” out back could be muddy.
Here is a suggested route:
I-84 West to Exit 17. At first traffic light, take Right on to Route 63 North. Continue thru Watertown Center and follow
Route 63 for approximately 8 miles. Turn Left on Route 132 (Bethlehem/ Judd Farm Road.) You will see 2 “Entering
Bethlehem” signs. Watch for Bethlehem Elementary School on the Left. Pfahl’s Restoration (Green sign) will be on the Right.
Red Building behind house at 73 East Street.

NUTMEG CHAPTER
MINUTES OF MEETING
January 10, 2016
Call to Order: 2:10 PM by Nutmeg Chapter President Jonathan (Jon) Yeomans.
Opening:
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Chapter President. Jon extended a heartfelt thank you from the
Club members to Harold and Cynthia Foskett for their genuine hospitality in welcoming the Nutmeg Chapter members to once
again hold the Club meeting at Foskett Equipment.
Thirty Club members were in attendance. Bob Manchester brought a long-time friend & guest, Richard Jakowski. Also, new
Nutmeg Chapter member Lance Dimock from Bolton, CT was introduced.
Secretary’s Report:
A motion was made to accept the Secretary’s Report of the November 8, 2015 meeting as it appeared in the Newsletter. The
motion was seconded and the members voted unanimously to approve the report.
Treasurer Report: Period from November 1, 2015 – December 31, 2015: Tom Bachand
1. Regular Club Account Activity:
Deposits: Thanks Giving dinner ticket receipts, dues, tee shirt sales and a donation.
Expenses: BTS Graphic bills for the past two Newsletters, postage for the Newsletters and Matthews Catering bill.
2. Show Account Activity:
A donation from the Nutmeg Chapter was made to the Haul of Fame Museum.
3. Tom stated that this financial period report reflects good ending balances for the Club’s accounts.
4. Tom presented the Annual Report to the Board and obtained necessary officer signatures. He will mail the Annual Report
to the ATHS as required.
Membership Report: Elizabeth Robertson
165 Club members have paid dues. Eighty-seven members have paid the 2016 dues and twenty-three of them owe
the $5.00 balance reflecting the increase in membership dues to $15.00. Forty-eight members are delinquent in
payment and six have paid through 2017. There was an opportunity to pay dues at this meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Past Members Memorial Plaque: Harold Foskett
The printer is dealing with font changes in the engraving process between original names listed and names to be
added. Harold continues to work diligently to bring this plaque up-to-date.
2. Social Media: The Website & Facebook
Jonathan continues to develop the Nutmeg Chapter Facebook page. He reported that the Chapter has 238
followers on Facebook. The Website, on the other hand, needs more development and members’ participation.
4. The Newsletter
Don welcomes chapter members’ contributions to the Newsletter in the form of stories, pictures, “for sale & wanted” ads
as well as business card advertisements.
NEW BUSINESS
1. New Year 2016 Nutmeg Chapter Growth Goals
Club Promotion: Jonathan has Newsletters and material for members to bring to future events and activities to
promote the Nutmeg Chapter and to help membership grow. Please check your calendars for future social events
at which material could be distributed to tell others about our organization and the annual show. Mike Rondeau
mentioned the possibility of a truck presence at the 300th Anniversary Parade in Palmer. He will let Jon know
further information as it develops.
2. Nutmeg Chapter History
Jon is looking for help in identifying trucks and people in pictures from the Club archives. These are vintage vehicles that
have a story and discussion may help to chronicle these pictures and trucks. Jon is planning to make a display of these
pictures and will bring it to the meeting, as well as put it on the website to invite wider participation in this identification
process.
3. Brooklyn Truck Show, June 26, 2016
The following suggestions were made:
4
a. Print more of the smaller posters, fewer of the larger ones to assure room for hanging at businesses.
b. Design the posters with big letters and color
c. Use stiffer poster paper for the smaller posters
d. Include the web address and Facebook address
e. Create a Square for android and smart phone users on the poster
f. Upload the poster to the web page in a PDF format so that members can print their own posters
g. Distribution should start now, not in June
h. Facebook page should have the date of June 26, 2016 for the Brooklyn Truck Show (free advertising)
i. Get the date of the Brooklyn Show on the ATHS Schedule in a timely fashion. ATHS will accept this
information after the Annual Report is submitted.
OTHER BUSINESS
1. Don presented a framed photograph of the original 1982 signing of the Nutmeg Chapter Club Charter. This
picture will be displayed at the Haul of Fame. He is requesting help in identifying those pictured.
2. On behalf of the Haul of Fame, Denis expressed his gratitude to the Nutmeg Chapter for the 2015 donation.
3. Lance Dimock has frame and stake truck bodies for sale.
4. 50/50 Raffle: It was recommended that the 50/50 Raffle format could be utilized by the Nutmeg Chapter to generate more
funds in the form of miscellaneous donations. The 50/50 Raffle would be held at each meeting and the drawing would occur
at the close of the meeting. Raffle ticket cost would be $1.00. Discussion ensued.
Motion: A motion was made and seconded “Have a 50/50 drawing at every meeting. That would be six times a year, beginning
with the March 13, 2016 meeting.”
ACTION: By a show of hands, fifteen members voted in favor of the 50/50 Raffle, eight members were opposed.
Jon will pick up raffle tickets at Wal-Mart. Tom noted that it would not be a bookkeeping issue.
5. Future Meetings:
a. Matt Pfahl has invited the Club to hold the March 13, 2016 meeting at Pfahl’s Mack & Antique Truck
Restoration in Bethlehem, CT. Members are asked to bring desserts and sides. Matt will provide grinders.
b. The May meeting location will be announced. Jon will speak with Rob Coutu.
c. Jon Treat of Bolton, CT has invited the Nutmeg Chapter to have the July meeting at his family farm.
d. The ATHS National Convention dates are May 26 – 28, 2016.
6. Mike Pietraroia is dealing with health issues at this time and is unable to get to the meetings. Mike and Bev’s
address is: 15 Foster Lane, Windsor CT 06095.
STORY TIME
1. Harold Foskett shared some Nutmeg Chapter club history. He spoke of the meetings that began twenty years ago
and how Foskett Equipment began hosting the January meetings after the passing of Roger Gardner. He then told the
membership about another recent inheritance. Bernice West recently bequeathed Bob West’s metal chairs that had
seated the chapter members at the West’s garage and picnic grove for every May and September meeting so
graciously hosted by Bob and Bernice.
2. Jonathan shared a bit of history that he recently learned. It has to do with Mike Pietraroia who has artistically given us
the Mystery Trucks in the Newsletter as well as the sketches of the featured truck of the Brooklyn Show. Mike is a
long-time Nutmeg Chapter member who had a career at Combustion Engineering. Through work associations, Jon
has heard high praise for Mike’s technical talent with mechanical drawings that provide such intricate detail. Mike is
highly respected in his field and praised for having such a rare skill set. His reputation has earned him renown at Combustion
Engineering, now under the dome of General Electric, the company where Jonathan is employed.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 3:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Betty Jay
Secretary

Eugene Wochomurka, Nutmeg Chapter
Member
From Movin’ Out Dec 2015 Issue
Eugene Carl Wochomurka, 86, of Tolland, beloved
husband of 29 years and best friend of Shirley (Tluck)
(Turek) Wochomurka, passed away peacefully on
Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Woodlake at Tolland with
his family by his side. Born on December 27, 1929, in
Rockville, CT, son of the late Edward and Louise
(Kimmel) Wochomurka, he grew up on the family farm in
Tolland. After attending Howell Cheney Technical School,
he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean
War. “Gene” worked for many years for John Limberger
Construction (Ellington), Stephen D. Williams & Co.
(Tolland), and other local contractors as a heavy equipment
operator. He was also an honorary volunteer fireman with
the Tolland Fire Department, and he was a member of the
American Truck Historical Society and the ATHS –
Nutmeg Chapter for many years, for which he proudly
displayed a treasured 1939 Ford dump truck.
Eugene took immense pride in his home and gardens. He
enjoyed working on his trucks, rebuilding old tractors, and
cutting fireplace wood using the saw-rig that he had built.
He enjoyed traveling and listening to Country Western and
German music. His greatest pleasures were being
surrounded by family and friends to whom he would rattle
off hundreds of jokes. Gene’s gifts to us were his timeless
optimism, his loyal and lifelong friendships, and his true
dedication as a father and husband.
Besides his devoted wife Shirley, he leaves his daughter
Cheryl Looke (Stephen) of Broad Brook and his grandson
Fred Yates IV, of Boston, MA. He is also survived by his
step-daughter Karin Turek and step-sons Karl Turek of
Manchester and Dr. Paul (Ashley) of Beverly Hills, CA
and their children. He is also survived by his sister, Mary
Clough (Warren) of PA
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at the
Burke-Fortin Funeral Home in Rockville, CT, with burial
at East Cemetery in Manchester. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Tolland Fire Department, P.O. Box
827, Tolland, CT 06084.

FROM THE EDITOR’S LOG BOOK
CARES & CONCERNS
Mike Pietraroia, of Mike’s Mystery Truck fame, was hospitalized for a few weeks in December. Luckily he was home before
Christmas. Mike is improving each day and hopes to attend our March meeting at Matt Pfahl’s. Mike can be contacted at
860-688-1709 or by email at [email protected]. Glad you are on the mend!
Jon is asking for assistance in developing the Nutmeg Chapter’s ATHS website. Whether you are a
long-time member or a new member, YOU can be an important part of Jon’s quest to develop the Club’s history
for the website. Each member can be a tremendous resource of information that will help Jon in his quest to
put the Club’s history “on the Net.” Why not jot down a memory or two and bring it to our March meeting.
Together we can get our Chapter’s website up and running for all to visit!
Do YOU have any photos, short stories on your restoration project, the history of your antique truck or “road stories” to
