The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us pray. Lord of life, submitting to death, you conquered the grave. By being
lifted on a cross, you draw all peoples to you. By being raised from the dead, you
restore to humanity all that we had lost through sin. Throughout these fifty days
of Easter we proclaim the marvelous mystery of death and resurrection. For all
praise is yours, now and throughout eternity. Amen.
Please be seated

The First Lesson
Acts 9: 1-19
Bob Perry
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm 30: 1–12
Responsively
I will exalt you, O Lord, because you have lifted me up
and have not let my enemies triumph over me.
O Lord my God, I cried out to you,
and you restored me to health.
You brought me up, O Lord, from the dead;
you restored my life as I was going down to the grave.
Sing to the Lord, you servants of his;
give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness.
For his wrath endures but the twinkling of an eye,
his favor for a lifetime.
Weeping may spend the night,
but joy comes in the morning.
While I felt secure, I said, “I shall never be disturbed.
You, Lord, with your favor, made me as strong as the mountains.”
Then you hid your face,
and I was filled with fear.
I cried to you, O Lord;
I pleaded with the Lord, saying,
“What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the Pit?
will the dust praise you or declare your faithfulness?
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me;
O Lord, be my helper.”
4
You have turned my wailing into dancing;
you have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy.
Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing;
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
The Second Lesson
John 21: 1-19
The Sermon
“Turn it Over”
the Rev. Dr. William B. Rolland
The minister will ask you to stand for the Creed
The Creed
We believe in God,
Who has created and is creating,
Who has come in Jesus to reconcile
And to make all things new.
We trust in God,
Who calls us to be the Church;
To love and serve others,
To seek justice and resist evil,
To proclaim Jesus, Crucified, dead and risen;
Our judge and our hope, In life, In death,
In life beyond death, God is with us:
We are not alone, Thanks be to God. Amen.
—A Statement of Faith from the Iona Community
The Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

Announcements
The Offering
A warm welcome to one-and-all to this service of worship. We gather with the
promise that “wherever two or more are gathered in God’s name, there God is in
our midst…” and in our very souls. So, with joy and expectation, let us worship
God together.
If you are a visitor, please know that the doors of this church and the hearts
of the congregation are wide open to receive you and, if you would like to know
more about what it means to belong, please feel free to talk with one of the
clergy and he would be only too happy to help. Take a moment and fill out the
visitor card and then place it in the offering plate as it is passed to you. If you
have a prayer request for the prayer circle, please use that same card for that
purpose. After church, stay for awhile and enjoy fun, food and fellowship. We are
grateful to Judy and Bob Fletcher for our refreshments this morning.
The flowers at the altar are given by Arlen and Cindy Lackey, “In celebration
of Spring!”
We are grateful to have Erasmo Aiello, our Sicilian connection and favorite
Italian tenor, as our musical guest this morning
Our Nominating Committee will be meeting soon with the intent of presenting
names of those to serve on one of the following: the Church Board, the Nominating
Committee, and the Fund for the Future Committee. Please take a prayerful
moment to consider who might best serve the church in one of these capacities, and
then jot it down on the back of the visitor card and place it in the offering plate—or
you may forward the information to Sherry at the church office.
We are always looking for those who would like to serve God in the worship
services—reading the lesson, ushering, acting as crucifer, performing altar care. If
you can help, it would be appreciated. Just sign up on the announcement board or
speak to Sherry or one of the ministers.
Spring Breakfast (the best in town) is planned for May 1, at 8:15 am at
Stevenson Dining Hall. The cost is $15, which includes the tip. Sign up today on
the bulletin board or contact the office to reserve your space.

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your
servants as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom
and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of their
lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

After the alms are gathered, the congregation rises and sings the Doxology

Following the hymn, the minister continues and you may sit or kneel
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance;
Govern and uphold them, now and always.
Day by day we bless you;
We praise your Name for ever.
Lord, keep us from all sin today;
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.
Lord, show us your love and mercy;
For we put our trust in you.
In you, Lord, is our hope;
And we shall never hope in vain.
T h e P r ay e r s
The minister will lead the prayers and conclude each prayer with:
We pray to the Lord.
The congregation will then respond:
Lord hear our prayer.
Concluding prayer in unison
Almighty God, through your only Son you overcame death and opened to us
the gate of everlasting life. Grant that we who celebrate our Lord’s resurrection,
may, through the renewing power of your Spirit, arise from the death of sin to
the life of righteousness; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Please stand for the hymn on the opposite page—the service concludes below
