Unique to the industry, Gray-Nicolls grows only the best English willow
for the production of their cricket bats. Salix Caerulea or Alba Var
varieties are grown and harvested by the Company in a willow
replenishment programme pioneered over 50 years ago.
The willow is air dried for approximately 6 weeks to ensure perfect
moisture content for the very best performance, we very carefully
oversee every aspect of the bat making process, guaranteeing a
product of exemplary quality.
All bats are given a final quality control inspection. Performance is
tested using a Lignum Vitae mallet. It is in this way that the world
renowned quality and performance of Gray-Nicolls bats is ensured.
Since 1876 Gray-Nicolls have continued to manufacture cricket bats
to the very highest quality, in Robertsbridge, England.
Gray-Nicolls superior handle technology dates back to the ultra
successful “Steel Spring” which was introduced to the World Market
in the 1960’s.
The fantastically successful “Scoop” bats were introduced by GrayNicolls in 1972.
The Millennium saw the equally successful introduction of the GrayNicolls Reinforced Titanium and Carbon Fibre Handles.
2007 saw the launch of the ground-breaking Fusion handle. This
totally hollow carbon handle dramatically reduced the weight of the
bat allowing huge edges and a massive profile never seen before.
In 2009 Gray-Nicolls unveil the super stiff Atomic handle, reducing
twisting of the blade and maximising the power from the players bat
speed.

Grays were selling their cricket balls in Cambridge as early
as 1891. Having acquired the famous brand of Hitchcocks
of Hildenborough in 1941, Our balls were used by many of
the English Counties – notably Yorkshire.
