THE ANNUAL APRIL
NEIGHBORHOOD PICNIC
We had a great time with our
neighbors. We are very thankful for
Captain Jenny Smith joining us,
answering questions, and
making herself available to
all of us.
MARCH
NEIGHBORHOOD
MEETING
Everyone had a great time at our March
neighborhood meeting! Thank you Artur
Davis for sharing about your plans for
running for Mayor of Montgomery. And
we enjoyed hearing from Chief Finley as
well.
We hope to see everyone at our upcoming
meeting on June 18th at 5:30!!
Meet the Lee’s!
Jon Lee, along with his wife, Rebecca, and 2 small children, just recently moved
into the neighborhood on Brentwood Drive. Jon Lee is a new minister at
Morningview Baptist Church. Learn more in this interview with Jon Lee:
1) What do you do for Morningview Baptist Church? I serve in an unusual capacity. For Morningview Baptist Church I am the Minister of Facilities and
Administration. I make sure the building is running smoothly. However, my primary role will be to
be the incoming principal of Cornerstone Classical Christian Academy that meets on the
Morningview Baptist Church campus.
2) How did you know you were called to go into ministry? I began serving at the Baptist Campus Ministries at AUM while in college. It was through serving
young men and women in that capacity that the Lord really warmed my heart to the idea of
vocational ministry.
3) Why did you choose to live in Morningview/Eastbrook Neighborhood?
We wanted to have as short of a commute as possible to both work and church. 4) What do you love most about our neighborhood?
We were able to live in Morningview for several months back in 2012. During that time we grew to
love that the neighborhood had lots of children, was relatively quiet, and was friendly. Now that we
have small children, we are even more grateful for those things.
5) What is your vision for the neighborhood?
We hope to see the neighborhood remain a warm, friendly, safe place where anyone can feel
welcome.

Meet Brantley W. Lyons
Mr. Lyons is a Candidate for Montgomery City Council, District 2. He will be a guest at our next
neighborhood meeting. We asked him to give us some background on himself.
“My parents moved to Montgomery in 1962. I was born at Saint Margaret’s Hospital in 1964 and raised in
Montgomery. I attended the Montgomery County Public School system namely Dannley Elementary, Goodwyn
Junior High and Jeff Davis High School graduating 1983. In the summer of 1983 I started a landscape contracting
business while attending night school at Troy State University, Maxwell AFB . I received a BA in Business
Administration & Accounting in 1989. I attended Jones School of Law (at night ) receiving my Juris Doctorate degree
April 1994. I’ve lived and worked in Montgomery my entire life. My father David E. Lyons, owned and operated
Gaylord’s Pharmacy between mid 70’s to the mid 80’s. I believe my life experiences can contribute to my vision for
District 2. I’ve been a small business man beginning at the age of 19 years old operating a landscape & irrigation
contracting company. In 2003 I studied for and obtained my Alabama Home Builders License . Subsequently, I
merged my landscape/irrigation business into Lyons Construction Company managing residential and light
commercial construction, renovation & landscape projects in Montgomery, Pratville, Deatsville and Wetumpka
including my Mother-In-Law’s barber shop in Eastbrook ( Kut-N-Go) . I am currently employed as a controller and
general counsel for private business. I am a hard working and small business minded individual. I look forward to
meeting everyone on June 18th!”
