During the Oregon State Park’s Discovery Season,
October 1—April 30, you can rent campsites at
reduced rates, and yurts and cabins are available
at regular prices. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the
crisp colors of fall and the coziness of winter
holidays. Enjoy all of Oregon’s winter delights, from
ocean storms at the coast to snow sports in central
Oregon, and the clear, bright skies of eastern Oregon.
All yurts and cabins come with lights, heating,
and furniture.
It’s also a great time to rent special facilities,
like the conference center at Silver Falls, or the
ballroom at Wolf Creek Inn.

Yurts. Cabins. Tepees. This is camping lite, Oregon style: camping that’s outdoorsy but
comfortable, where everybody can get a good night’s sleep and the kids aren’t swatting mosquitoes
all night. This special kind of camping is great for our “Discovery Season,” October 1—April 30.

Yurt Choices on the Coast
Deluxe yurts (at Umpqua Lighthouse)
are 24 feet in diameter and include beds with
mattresses for seven, TV and VCR, refrigerator,
microwave, bathroom and shower, covered deck
and barbecue.
“Yurtin’ for Certain!” is the motto of
veteran yurt enthusiasts, and their
numbers swell every year. It’s hard to
keep up with the demand, but with 190
across the state, we’re trying. What is
it about these things anyway? Maybe
it’s the privacy and security of lockable
doors. Maybe it’s the convenience of
no equipment to lug around. Maybe it’s
the cozy, denlike feeling of a family of
five snuggled in their warm beds. Heck,
maybe it’s their name.
