The sharing, passion, generosity and
caring of our local business community
has built true relationships between our
Partners and our schools.
Every day, Partners make it possible for
teachers to present innovative programs
with mini-grants. Partners make it possible
for students to get the one-to-one mentoring that can spark a life-long love of
reading or the tutoring to master multiplication. Partners guide students in careers,
volunteer at school cleanups and deliver
pizza to an English class as a reward for
hard work.
Our Partners are as diverse as our students. We have mentors from Fortune 500
insurance companies and tutors from local
banks. We get financial support from real
estate agents and elevator companies.
Donations come from ice-cream shops
and scientific research companies.
Students learn about careers in hospitals
and auto repair shops. In many ways, every single day, our Partners make contributions that make a real, lasting difference in
our schools – and have a life-long impact
on our students.

This year, we celebrate another QPS
tradition of twenty plus years of the Quincy
School ~ Community Partnership.
Our system is grateful for the commitment
and dedication of these partners who provide financial contributions, student and
site support, and connect our students
with career opportunities.
Our Partnership Pathways provide
multiple ways for businesses to become
involved in our schools, enhance the educational opportunities of our students, and
support our dedicated professional staff.
Businesses and community partners gain
positive exposure in the community and
students gain valuable insight into business and community practices.
Our partners’ investments support the
academic and social success of our
students and are an
integral part of their
development into
productive citizens and
involved community
members.

’Tis The Season…Symphony & Song:

Quincy School ~ Community Partnership’s
15th annual ‘Tis the Season…Symphony
and Song concert will be held Thursday
December 3rd at Quincy High School in the
Lloyd Hill Performing Arts Center. This
event is sponsored by Granite City Electric
Supply.

Over 300 elementary school students, their
parents, teachers and principals attend as
a result of
the generous contributions by the following QSCP
Platinum Sponsors: Quincy Education
Association, Arbella Insurance Group, NAGE
(National Association of Government Employees), Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance,
Quincy Credit Union, Wessling Architects,
Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts, Quirk Auto
Dealers, Harvard Pilgrim Health, and Bluefin
Robotics.
In total,
an audience of 750 guests will be treated
to a delightful evening of holiday music
and song.
The evening is highlighted by the performance of the Quincy Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yoichi Udagawa along
with the QPS John Adams Orchestra and
the Combined High School Choral Group.

Mini-Grant Award Ceremony
November 12, 2015
The Quincy Public Schools / Quincy School ~
Community Partnership Teacher Mini-Grant Award
Ceremony will be held on Thursday November 12,
2015 in the Atrium of Honor at North Quincy High
School. Eighty-two creative mini-grants totaling
$30,000.00 will be awarded to Quincy Public
Schools professional staff members. $297,000.00
has been awarded in total since the mini-grant
initiative was created 15 years ago. The grants
are gifts from Boston University, George G. Burke,
Esq., David Ezickson, Fund for Excellence in Teaching, and members of the
Quincy School~Community Partnership Platinum and Gold QSCP partners will
be on hand to present the recipients with their awards...

15th Annual Fall Gathering
November 19, 2015
The 15th annual Quincy Public
Schools Fall Gathering will be held on
November 19th at the Tirrell Room in
Quincy. An expected standing room
only crowd of school department
employees will have the opportunity
to make a difference and enjoy each
other’s company. Each attendee, as
their admission ticket, is required to
donate 4 non-perishable food items
to the event.
Through the expected generosity of
the Quincy Public Schools staff, it is
hoped that 125 boxes of non-perishable foods items, as well as 2100
cans of soup, will be distributed to
Quincy’s food pantries; Germantown
Neighborhood Center, Interfaith
Social Services, Quincy Crisis Center,
and Southwest Community Center.
Special thanks to the following organizations, as the event would not
be possible without their support:

The Quincy School~Community
Partnership welcomes several new
partners.
DST Systems, headquartered in
Kansas City MO, with a satellite
office here in Quincy, has become the
QSCP’s newest Platinum Partner.
DST delivers industry experience,
technological expertise and service
excellence to help our clients process, communicate and safeguard
the critical, high-value information
their customers need to manage life’s
most important business.
South Shore Bank, with a branch on
Franklin Street here in Quincy, presented the partnership with a check
for $2,500 to be used for technology
upgrades within both high schools.
The check was presented to John
Fagerlund, Coordinator, Quincy
School~Community Partnership by
James Dunphy, President and CEO
of the bank.
National Fire Protection Agency has
re-established itself as a Platinum
partner. NFPA will be working directly
with the Wollaston School to upgrade
technology as well as offer lecturers
at the high school level for students
eager to pursue a career as fire safety
engineers.

QSCP Hosts New Professional Staff
Orientation September 2nd & 3rd
The annual New Professional
Staff Orientation took place on
September 2nd and 3rd at Quincy
High School. 45 new professionals
were introduced to the system by
numerous guests and QPS administration. The event was sponsored by QSCP partners MetLife,
Quincy Credit Union, Montilio’s
Bakery, and the Quincy Education
Association.
QSCP Welcome Back Reception Held
September 10th
On September 10, 2015 approximately 45 QSCP partners attended
the First Annual Welcome Back
Reception held at The Common
Market. QSCP Partner Greg McDonald of the Common Market hosted
the event. This event gave everyone
attending an opportunity to meet the
Superintendent’s Leadership Team
and network with one another and
talk about their particular involvement
and contribution to the partnership.

Quincy School ~ Community Partners Present
2000 Backpacks to Elementary School Students
On September 10th and 11th, 2015, the students at three Quincy Public Schools
were presented with backpacks filled with school supplies to begin the new
school year.
On September 10th, Harvard Community Health Care, in conjunction
with partner Cradles to Crayons,
presented a backpack to every
Grade 1 through Grade 5 student
at the Snug Harbor Elementary
School. School Principal Maureen
MacNeill welcomed the volunteers
from Harvard Pilgrim and introduced
Superintendent Richard DeCristofaro, Brenda Cole, HPHC’s VP of Customer Service, Janelle Woods-McNish,
Ashley Hackett and Andrea LAST NAME?, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation’s Community Involvement Managers. Also attending this annual event were
Quincy School Committee members, Kathryn Hubley and Paul Bregoli.
The afternoon presentation took place at the Clifford Marshall Elementary School
where QSCP Platinum Partner, Quincy Credit Union, distributed 600 colorful
backpacks filled with school supplies to every Grade 1 through 4 student. Judy

A school-wide distribution took place on September 11th at the Lincoln Hancock
Elementary School. WB Mason Corp. and NAGE (National Association of Government Employees) donated 400 backpacks filled with school supplies. Present
for the event were Bill O’Malley from WB Mason and Kevin Doyle from NAGE.
