Why New Orleans? Really, the question ought to be, "How can
we NOT go to New Orleans?" When I want to escape, I want to
escape to a place nothing like home. I'm a history buff, so I
want a place that tells a great story. New Orleans is loaded
with history and we're staying right in the heart of it in the
historic French Quarter. I love great food. New Orleans
cooking is legendary and you'll taste some great examples
during our time there. But the bottom line is that my Great
Escapes have to go to places that are FUN, and New Orleans
certainly fits the bill there as well. From our Swamp Tour, to
our cooking demonstration, to taking in some great New
Orleans jazz, this city truly does have it all. Wanna go? It's
going to be a blast. But hurry -- space is limited!

Day 1: Thursday, May 26, 2016
Enjoy airport transportation from Milwaukee to Chicago
before your non-stop flight to the “Jazz Capital of the
World,” New Orleans.
Day 2: Friday, May 27, 2016
Get to know the city’s famous French Quarter on a
walking tour featuring the majestic St. Louis Cathedral,
one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Continue
on to the bustling French Marketplace where you’ll
explore Pirates Alley, the Cabildo, the Presbytere and the
Pontalba. Stop to taste a true New Orleans favorite –
beignets at Café Du Monde. Tonight, roll up your sleeves
and prepare to discover how to cook New Orleans-style!
During a unique cooking demonstration at the New
Orleans School of Cooking, your chef will indulge you in
everything that Louisiana cuisine has to offer. Following
dinner, discover why New Orleans is known as the
“Birthplace of Jazz” when you take in a spirited jazz
revue at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse. (B, D)
Day 3: Saturday May 28, 2016
Set out on a drive along New Orleans’ historic Esplanade
Avenue. Then, journey through Louisiana’s swamp on a
cruise narrated by your captain. Learn about the history

and ecology of this fascinating ecosystem while keeping
an eye out for wildlife including bald eagles, herons,
turtles and alligators! You’ll also see houses of the local
Cajuns who have made their homes here in the bayous,
which are accessible only by boat. Return to New Orleans
and spend the remainder of the day at leisure to discover
this great city your way. (B)
Day 4: Sunday, May 29, 2016
This morning, enjoy a panoramic tour of New Orleans
with a local guide. Begin by touring St. Louis Cemetery
#3 which opened in 1854 and holds some of the most
elaborate crypts found in the city’s cemeteries. Then,
relax during a drive along the shoreline of Lake
Pontchartrain. This romantic road eventually leads to St.
Charles Avenue, where you’ll find gorgeous mansions as
well as Tulane and Loyola, two world-famous universities.
Return to the French Quarter this afternoon. Tonight,
enjoy our fairwell dinner at the Court of Two Sisters, one
of New Orleans’ most famous restaurants. (B, D)
Day 5: Monday, May 30, 2016 - Memorial Day
Your tour of this captivating city comes to a close. Your
non-stop flight will have you home in time to tell tales of
your New Orleans adventure over dinner. (B)
