Brian Head Snowtubing Park: Two tubing hills located at both Giant Steps and Navajo
Mountains, this winter activity is great for the whole family. Two-hour sessions,
beginning on the even hours, include snow-tubing and surface lift to the top of the hill.
Season is generally mid December thru mid April, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, extended hours

Bryce Canyon National Park: Guided nature walks, hike the Navajo Loop Trail (2 miles
round-trip), photography, horseback rides, and beautiful scenery. In the winter time rent
cross-country skis or snowshoes for a winter excursion along Bryce Canyon’s rim. $25.00
entrance fee is good for seven days. Located 90 minutes east from Cedar City, 435-834-5322.

Kolob Canyons-Zion National Park: Enjoy beautiful scenery, picnic areas, and guided
nature walks in summer and fall. Hike Taylor’s Creek Trail (5 miles round-trip) or the
Timber Creek Trail (one mile roundtrip). $25.00 entrance fee good for seven days, includes
entrance to all of Zion National Park, including the Main Canyon. Located 20 minutes south of

Cedar Breaks National Monument: Enjoy guided nature walks in summer and fall, wildlife
viewing, picnic areas, and beautiful scenery. In winter rent cross-country skis or snowmobiles
and take a tour through Cedar Breaks for a spectacular winter view. Road is open late May thru
mid November to regular vehicle traffic. $4.00 per person entrance fee is good for seven days.

Zion National Park: Guided nature walks, hike the Emerald Pools Loop (two miles round-trip),
photography, horseback rides, beautiful scenery & the Zion Canyon Giant Screen Theater. $25.00
park entrance fee includes entry into Kolob Canyons and all of Zion National Park including
Main Canyon. Shuttle is required through the Main Canyon (April - late October). Located 90

Navajo Lake Area, Dixie National Forest: Stop at the Zion Overlook, hike the
Bristlecone Pine Trail (1/2 mile) or Cascade Falls Trail (1 mile), mountain bike the

Navajo Lake Loop Trail (12 miles), fish at Navajo Lake, Duck Creek and Aspen Mirror

Lake, and explore Mammoth Cave. Located 22 miles east of Cedar City on Hwy U-14.

Parowan Heritage Park: Features a natural spring, several bronze monuments and
statues. Interpretive plaques tell the history of pioneer settlement in the southwest. Free.

Garden
Parowan Old Rock Church: The oldest church building in southern Utah, and currently
used as the home of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum. The museum is a
history center for descendents of early settlers and features one of the largest collections
of pioneer photographs and artifacts in southern Utah. The adjacent Jesse N. Smith Home
is also interesting to explore while visiting Parowan. Free. Located in Parowan Town
Square, 100 South and Main Street. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day, Monday Saturday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Check with the Parowan Visitors Center, 73 North Main,

Parowan Urban Fishery & Dr. Meeks Pioneer Farmstead: The homestead buildings
have been restored to when it was a working pioneer farmstead by local heritage groups
and agriculture students. Guided tours of the cabin, barn and outdoor learning center are
available through the Parowan Visitors Center 435-477-8190. The urban fishery is open to
the public, Utah fishing regulations apply. Free. Located at the corner of 100 North 400
West, Parowan.

Parowan Gap Petroglyphs: Features a superb gallery of ancient Native American
petroglyphs. Recent studies theorize that it is also an ancient solar calendar. Pick up a
Parowan Gap Petroglyphs brochure at the Iron County or Parowan Visitor Centers. Free.
Travel north on Hwy U-130 from Cedar City for 13 miles, turn east on paved road for 2.5
miles or from Parowan Main Street, travel west on 400 North for 10.5 miles to the gap.

Scenic Byway Loop: Take Scenic Byway U-14 from Cedar City through scenic Cedar
Lake
Canyon to the high elevations of Scenic
Byway U-148 through Cedar Breaks National
Monument to National Scenic Byway Powell
U-143 through Brian Head Resort town, then down
the Parowan Canyon to I-15, and back to Cedar City. Due to Scenic Byway Hwy U-148
being closed mid November to late May, this scenic loop is not
recommended in winter months.
Three Peaks Recreation Area: The rolling hills and volcanic rock formations provide a
fantastic location for camping, bike riding and off-road vehicle use. Also features several
picnic areas, fire rings, and restroom facilities. Two covered pavilions are available for
groups to reserve in advance, 435-865-5325. Travel west on Hwy U-56 from Cedar City
to Lund Hwy, then north for about five miles to Mid-Valley Road, then west for about two

Wood’s Ranch Recreation Area & Kids Pond: A nice area for picnics, volleyball and
hiking (Virgin River Rim Trailhead). The Kids Pond is available for kids 12 and under to
fish for free accompanied by an adult with a valid Utah fishing license. Two pavilions are
available for groups to reserve, 435-865-5325. Reservation forms are available at the
Iron County Visitor Center, 581 North Main Street, Cedar City. Open late May through
September. Located 12 miles east of Cedar City on Hwy U-14
Yankee Meadows/Vermillion Castle: Vermillion Castle has unique rock formations,
hiking and picnic area. Yankee Meadows is a beautiful reservoir at the base of Sydney
Peaks. Enjoy fishing, photography, OHV riding and camping. Road is located five miles
up Parowan Canyon along National Scenic Byway Hwy U-143. Closed in the winter.

66) Coal Creek Paved Walking Trail:
Perfect for
roller-blades, bikes, strollers, or just an afternoon walk
with a loved one or a pet. Exercise stations are also
available along the trail. Located along the banks of
Coal Creek and weaves up into Cedar Canyon for 3.5
miles. Access points include Bicentennial Park, Iron
County Visitor Center, Veterans Park, and Cedar

Quaint shops, galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, a
unique music store, an old time soda fountain, antique
stores, and regional arts & crafts shops. Historical
buildings in the district include the Old Post Office, the
Rock Church and the Union Pacific Railroad Depot. Most
shops are open Monday – Saturday. Shopping District
includes the area of Main Street and 100 West from 200
North to University Boulevard.

Visit the outdoor Adam’s Memorial Theatre courtyard,
simulating the atmosphere of Stratford-upon Avon; the
Greek themed Eccles Coliseum featuring statues, towers,
