Prior to making a booking, please read and understand the booking and
cancellation terms and conditions stated below.
Cancellation Policy a
General info
- In order to register, please arrive half hour prior to the course commencement.
- You are required to bring your own personal trade tools: combs (tail, cutting,
basin), sectioning clips, scissors, brushes, blow-dryer and thermal styling equipment.
- All KEUNE courses provide a light meal and refreshments.
- KEUNE reserves the right to cancel, postpone or change the venue for any course
due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case participants will be notified
immediately on the provided salon contact number or after hours contact number, if
provided.
This policy applies to courses in the Technical chapter.
- If a cancellation is made within 7 working days of the course date or if a
participant fails to attend, the entire fee will be forfeited.
- for complimentary courses, a $40 plus GST cancellation fee will apply for
cancellations made within 7 working days of the course date or if a participant fails
to attend.
- for courses booked using KcE Points, the course fee will be charged to the account
for cancellations made within 7 working days of the course date or if a participant
fails to attend.

- Bookings for courses are chargeable at time of booking. Unfortunately, due to high
demand, no course positions can be held without payment.
- once a booking is placed, charges are made automatically to your KEUNE
account. If you would like to pay by an alternative method, please inform your

In 2014, we are thrilled to be celebrating 92 years of KEUNE! We have travelled a long way
from our humble beginnings, emerging from the backroom of a chemist shop in downtown
Amsterdam, to becoming one of the world’s leading professional only hair care brands,
distributed in over 80 countries. KEUNE Australia has recently moved into a purpose-built new
facility in Sydney, improving our operating efficiency, while incorporating a large education
centre, allowing for further expansion in the future.
To this day, KEUNE remains one of the last family-owned hair care brands of its size, still owned
by the original, founding family. The son of the founder, Mr George Keune Snr, and grandson,
Mr George Keune Jnr, are actively involved in the day to day operations of the business and
continue to ensure that its family integrity and culture remain as one of the cornerstones of the
business. In our industry the dedication to life-long learning and education is a must, to stay
ahead of the latest fashion and technical developments. The KEUNE Academy has planned
another year of exciting and inspiring classes, educational and business events, to assist you
in your professional development.
Our new business initiatives include a free online KEUNE shop for each individual KCE
member salon, fully paid for, managed and maintained by KEUNE. This will take away the
upfront and ongoing expenses, plus the hassle of running and maintaining an online store –
leaving you free to focus on and run your salon, without missing out on the latest technological
retail developments.
Being a professional only supplier, I like to note, that without you, none of us at KEUNE

KEUNE was founded in 1922 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and is now available worldwide in

KEUNE Australia and New Zealand was established by Hans and Theresa van der Velden in 1995.

KEUNE offers professional salons an extensive and complete hair system which has been developed in one of the
most advanced laboratories in Europe, using only high-quality and innovative ingredients. KEUNE prides itself on

Social responsibility plays a big part in the everyday culture at KEUNE, with the company’s strong belief in
assisting others and giving back to the community. In 1995, KEUNE Holland established an employment project on
its manufacturing line for people with a mental handicap, offering them not just a place of work, but another family
and support network. In 2005, KEUNE Australia established The KEUNE Foundation, a charitable organisation
providing support and financial assistance to families who have a child diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

Purpose-Built Facility
We look forward to welcoming you to our new home. After 18 years of operating in Australia, we are extremely
proud to have moved into a new purpose-built facility in Huntingwood, NSW. A short distance from Sydney’s
western motorways, this easily accessible facility includes a training salon with 5 basins and 16 stations for handson learning, a beauty training room, cafeteria with alfresco dining that can also host inspiring training sessions
for up to 60 people, and a state of the art warehouse.
In recent years we have also welcomed the Victorian hair and beauty training studio based in Mulgrave, where
we host a broad variety of Academy courses.

In 2013, KEUNE Australia and New Zealand launched its unique KEUNE Salon Online concept, which increases
a KCE salon’s profit and introduces them to new customers who could be converted into hair service clients.
The online retail arena is continuing to grow in popularity and demand, due to the convenience it offers consumers.
The KEUNE Salon Online gives salons a competitive edge, assisting them to enter into an industry that they may
not otherwise have been able to compete within due to costs, limited time and limited resources.
KEUNE Salon Online has been developed as a convenient mechanism for Australian KCE clients to sell KEUNE’s
retail products directly to their regular and new customers via a well-supported online portal that is fully maintained

Paraphenylenediamine or PPD is a common ingredient found in hair colour. It has been cited as a
contact allergen and has been shown to produce symptoms of irritation when coming in contact with

In front of a 500-strong crowd, Keune presented its biggest hair and fashion gala, the Day with KEuNE,
at the Hilton Sydney in June. The inspiring event launched new initiatives and showcased innovative
techniques by three renowned stylists, Ilham Mestour, Jeroen Struijlaart and Justin Teague,
who presented more than 35 models on the runway. Models were dressed in 12 Australian designers,

Studio 54, the famous celebrity haunt of the late 70s, was recreated at the 9th Annual KEuNE
Foundation Ball, raising funds for children diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

attracted nearly 1,200 spirited supporters from across Australia and New Zealand, who dressed

The KEUNE Academy has provided education to more than 6000 individual students and runs close to 400
courses annually throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our academy is dedicated to providing you and your
salon with the highest calibre of training, support and inspiration. Courses offered are created by some of the
world’s most outstanding hairdressers. KEUNE is devoted to providing salons with first-class technical support
and training.
Available exclusively to KEUNE clients, the Academy offers Business, Technical, Inspirational and
Specialist courses. We uphold a strong commitment to providing intimate and structured team-learning
environments, as we strongly believe this will allow students to build confidence through group contribution, as
well as enable them to gain independence through their one-on-one time with the KEUNE Educators. Students can
work towards achieving the status of KEUNE Master Colourist and KEUNE International Master Colourist, where
the last destination is a 3-day course held at one of KEUNE’s global offices.
Our courses and events have been designed to stimulate creative minds by arming all participants with the tools
to perform at their peak, where it counts most – in the salon. Course materials cover the necessry skills in theory
and practical knowledge, from basic to advanced, technical to creative, and also include some of the best
international artistic techniques.

THE KEUNE eduFOLDER
The KEUNE Academy provides every student with a complimentary eduFOLDER at the attendance of their first
class. The folder has been designed to house all course documents used by the academy. Each folder will contain
general course documents including a quick reference guide, colour wheel chart and tabs for each course, which
will divide the folder appropriately to reflect the KEUNE Academy structure.
At each KEUNE course, enrolled students are provided with a course pack that includes all the necessary
information, so remember to bring your folders to file packs under the appropriate tab.
The eduFOLDER keeps all your important academy documents neatly together. It will also help you track your
progress through the KEUNE Academy. The folder is a great education tool, providing you with structure and a
quick reference guide to refresh your memory and refer back to your key learnings at a later stage.
You will be required to bring the folder with you to every enrolled course.
The folder is yours to keep and thus is your responsibility. We suggest you place this folder in a clean and safe
area in your salon for easy access.

modern art form. The word Origami comes from ori meaning “folding” and kami meaning “paper”. The

With more than four decades’ experience and an
influential status in many industry arenas, it’s little
wonder Maureen Harding is known as hairdressing
royalty. She’s actively involved in education, sitting
on the Vocational Training Tribunal (VTT) board,
judging various competitions such as World Skills,
developing internal training programs for staff, acting
as an educational advisor and running workshops for
salon owners. She is also a strong advocate for trade
recognition, sitting on the Service Skills Australia
(SSA) board and the NSW Wholesale Retail And
Personal Services (WRAPS) board, as well as being a
member of the national Industry Advisory Committee
(IAC) and Hair And Beauty Association (HABA).
Maureen supports a holistic approach to education,
starting from day one of an apprenticeship. She has
been operating salons for 33 years, at one stage
overseeing 3 salons and over 30 staff members, and
she continues to work in salon today so her training
reflects modern trends and experience.
Kevin’s specialty is pre‐contemporary and instinctive looks.
Being a late starter in the hair industry, Kevin has always had
an eye for hair and is constantly dreaming of the latest hair
and fashion trends to re-create his own signature styles. Kevin
describes himself as a colourist and stylist. He believes you can
have fun with colour by creating, mixing and matching shades,
and can change someone’s complete look with just a few simple
highlights. With 10 years industry experience, this overachiever
has been in management positions for a number of years and
runs his own salon, Broken Glass, south of Sydney. Among
Kevin’s achievements was being named the winning senior
finalist in the 2010 Tinta Color Trophy competition.
Neville lives and breathes men’s cutting and will bring men’s
fashion session styling to the next level. This well-known talent
has owned his business for 30 years and has spread his wealth
and knowledge to many through lecturing at TAFE, teaching VET
programs, apprentice classes and men’s cutting courses. He even
presented at Hair Expo’s business seminar in 2010. Not only is
Neville a stylist, he also developed a Men’s Cutting Manual for
salons and training colleges, which became the first privately
published book in WA. This workshop is designed to give you
confidence in men’s haircutting, teaching the skills necessary to
master classic barb as well as the industry’s latest trends. Neville
injects his unique personality into his vision and will give you an
insight into his creative mind and meticulous techniques.

promotional events.
Debra Moodie - Upstyle

Gregson recognises the need for passion, diverse techniques and
up to the minute styling in order to satisfy the public’s demand for
inspiring hair. Gregson enjoys styling both men and women’s hair,
but admits to a particular flair for male locks. In his 18 year career
he was voted finalist for the AHFA’s Australian Men’s Hairdresser
of the Year (2010 and 2011), winning the PPS Qld National
Senior Stylist of the Year 2006, winning the Qld Men’s Division
L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2006, collecting the IHS National Men’s
Face of the Year 2005 and demonstrating and compering for Toni

With over three decades as an elite stylist and salon owner in Adelaide, Tony brings

smooth charm emulates throughout his workshop, guiding you through the restructuring

Glenda won her first competition at the age of 16 and has gone on
to win many more since. She has been a competition judge for the
International Hairstylists Society (IHS) in Australia and is a qualified
professional workplace trainer. Glenda was also a Guest Artist at the
Day with KEUNE in 2009. Glenda has dedicated over two decades
of her life to hairdressing. She is great fun and a very approachable
educator who presents a well-structured course, allowing her students to
understand specialist techniques with ease.
With a passion for creativity, a craze to set new trends and a desire to inspire others,
Simone strongly believes education is the key to creative and financial success. Simone
practices what she preaches and shows this through the great success she has achieved
whilst working in the industry for the past 20 years. Simone offers students a diverse
amount of experience and insight. She has been involved in product development, been a
finalist in many national and international competitions, worked with countless luminaries
most recently including Rose Byrne, Miranda Otto, Alicia Vikander, Ewan McGregor
and Lisa McCune, and is currently the Creative Art Director of Hair and Makeup for six
international fashion weeks. He’s worked with some of the industry’s greats, but with a career spanning more than
two decades in salons, television, film and runways, Justin Teague’s on the path to
becoming known as one of the greats himself. With an innate ability for styling, the
Melbourne-based artist has worked in the television industry for over 15 continuous
years, styling real life, modern day and periodic characters. His recent work includes
hairstyling for the feature film, The Menkoff Method. Keeping in touch with his roots,
Justin has never lost sight of his salon work, having maintained a popular presence
among salons in Melbourne, Italy and Canada. He has presented his skills overseas and

Norman Ironside, Soignee, NSW
Trainer of three world hairdressing championship teams, Norman is
one of the leading stylists internationally. His expertise has been sought
out by magazines and he was named as a member of the Hairdressing
Hall of Fame. Norman has owned his successful and prestige salon,
Soignee, for decades and has achieved countless awards, including
Hairdresser of the Year on three occasions, multiple Salon of the Year

We’ve all experienced that spark of inspiration when absorbing the glamour of the
movies, but now you can go one better, with tutelage by one of Australia’s best
stylists. The man behind-the-scenes of many Australian films and television shows,
Justin will reignite your passion and vision, as you invent new ways to upstyle and
manoeuvre hair for dramatic, avant-garde results. He will cover the art of quick
styling, through to the more complicated processes that are sure to capture attention
each and every time. Using hairpieces and unique pin, sew and glue techniques,
Justin will have you brimming with ideas, which is especially handy for participants
entering the Tinta Color Trophy competition!

CanCellaTion PoliCies
Prior to making a booking, please read and understand the booking and
cancellation terms and conditions stated below.
Cancellation Policy a
General info
- In order to register, please arrive half hour prior to the course commencement.
- You are required to bring your own personal trade tools: combs (tail, cutting,
basin), sectioning clips, scissors, brushes, blow-dryer and thermal styling equipment.
- All KEUNE courses provide a light meal and refreshments.
- KEUNE reserves the right to cancel, postpone or change the venue for any course
due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case participants will be notified
immediately on the provided salon contact number or after hours contact number, if
provided.
This policy applies to courses in the Technical chapter.
- If a cancellation is made within 7 working days of the course date or if a
participant fails to attend, the entire fee will be forfeited.
- for complimentary courses, a $40 plus GST cancellation fee will apply for
cancellations made within 7 working days of the course date or if a participant fails
to attend.
- for courses booked using KcE Points, the course fee will be charged to the account
for cancellations made within 7 working days of the course date or if a participant
fails to attend.

This policy applies to courses in the Business, Inspiration and Specialist chapters, as

Courses from these chapters are:
- Bookings for courses are chargeable at time of booking. Unfortunately, due to high
demand, no course positions can be held without payment.
• No free list
• Non-refundable
• Non-transferable to another course, though tickets are transferable to another
person from the same salon
- once a booking is placed, charges are made automatically to your KEUNE
account. If you would like to pay by an alternative method, please inform your
representative at the time of booking (i.e. cash, cheque, credit card or direct
deposit).
If any cancellations are made after 7 working days from the date of the invoice, the
full investment (fee & KcE Points) for course ticket is immediately forfeited.
